I never really comment but I had to on this one, I'm so glad this popped up in my reccommended. As a guy from Fredrikstad who's gotten into hockey at a later age its quite amazing to see the behind the scenes, how this amazing city is like for visitors etc. Even seeing some old classmates in the dressing room as pro hockey players, quite mind boggling. Thank you!
Woah! Love this comment, thanks so much for sharing!! I'm glad you enjoyed, truly loved my time in your city!
Do they still have the nuclear bomb shelter cave in the center of town? I.m from the US and played there in the late 1970's. They had us stay in the cave /bomb shelter, which actually was pretty nice. It even had an indoor swimming pool. One night, we got locked in, as it had a large vault door. Military had to rescue us.
@@sevelo321 what a story! Thanks for sharing, I didn’t hear much about that when I was there so not sure!
@@sevelo321 thats awesome! we do have a lot of bomb shelter caves in the city still but as far as I know none of them have a pool, most of them now are being used for parking. I'll make sure to ask my grandpa next time I see him if he knows about a bomb shelter with a swimming pool :D
Fun fact: Urge was introduced as a test in Norway by the Coca Cola Company in 1996. It was a success here as a competitor to Mountain Dew. They lauched it in the US under the name Surge, but it never took off there, and was taken off the shelves in 2003.
I was hooked on that stuff in college 😅
Hahaha no way! Thanks for sharing 🙌
@@RobertGreeley U may know it as Surge
Awesome video! As a Canadian hockey goalie having played in Finland, it's really cool to see what things are like in Norway. Very interesting to see your perspective as a fan. Also love the dedication to see you travel so far to watch a game and make these videos!
Thanks so much! All credit to my friends honestly for playing the sport they love at a high level and letting me tag along!
What team you played for?
@@RobertGreeley Awesome! It's nice to have great friends who support you and your videos. Keep it up! :D
Love this. Great insights! There's something about smaller leagues, the more local game, that realness, authenticity that's lost in the big money leagues, no matter what sport.
There’s definitely more to any sport than just the major league for sure! Thanks for the kind words!!
That was interesting to watch!..It just goes to show the passion these guys have to continue to play hockey and also how few actually make it to the NHL.
Thanks for the kind words!
you can feel the atmosphere in this club, great video.
Thank you!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the Scotland and Manchester videos 👍🏻
Thank you!! They’ll be coming soon!!
I love those smaller barns! Love how it feels the fan are right on top of ya cheering you on!
For sure!
Great insight into Norwegian hockey! Seem like a good bunch of guys 😊
They were great! Loved being there!!
Country looks so inviting, clean, and beautiful.
It's a special spot for sure!
amazing video! great cinematography, super cool to see these pro players lives.
Thanks so much!!
That is an incredible rink!!! Full of character
For sure!
Dominic Is one of my favs I loved when he played for the Royals in Reading
Hope you enjoyed the video!
@@RobertGreeley yes I did!
@@RobertGreeleyI Also have his reading royals hoodie in the beginning of the video 😊
What an awesome channel!!! I love this style of a day in the life of hockey players! New sub here for sure! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Great video! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks Jason!
This showed up on my recommended... Glad I was recommended.
Glad you enjoyed!!
Great video! Hope you are still in Norway to cover the preparations and the match tomorrow against arch-rival Sparta Sarpsborg.
Thank you! Unfortunately, not I’m back in Canada now! But would love to be back someday!
awesome video! and quite spooky timing too, I only first heard of Dom yesterday as it's rumoured he'll be joining my hometown club! hopefully its true, seems like a great guy and a top player!
Haha I may have some insider information about that but only time will tell, spooky indeed! Thanks for the kind words!
@RobertGreeley well, he's looking good so far my friend😁
@@thomthulbourne2336 love to hear that!
Such a top class d man in the eihl this year hope he can stay with us for another year at the steelers
Glad to hear! I’m hoping he does to so I can get out to the Steelers and do another piece!
Nice! Wish I made more videos when I was playing.
Honestly same!
Nice video! One thing I've been curious about is if pro players have their gear washed by the equipment staff to prevent it from getting funky. I'm sure a handful of guys would avoid it for the traditional hockey superstition, but I've always wondered if teams generally just wash the pads and gear to keep it from smelling like a dumpster fire.
For the most part yes, pro teams take care of the maintenance, of your equipment, which includes washing!
@@RobertGreeley Nice! Some of the college club teams I've smelled could certainly use that option.
You could smell those teams rolling in across the rink.
Beautiful area.
It really is!
Im surprised there are not more pro Hockey players from Norway. Such athletic people too
Especially with how good Sweden and Finland are to!
Hard to compete with cross-country skiing and biathlon in Norway.@@RobertGreeley
@@martinsundland7614 as in funding to be allocated to each sport?
No- as in having to compete for interest from young Norwegian men brought up in the skiing tradition. They are to skiing as Canadian guys are to hockey.@@RobertGreeley
As Zucarello said in an interview not long a go "Norway is a shit country and it is not well enough organized for children and young people throughout the country" also in sweden they have around 360 ice rinks and finland has 270 Stockholm alone has more ice rinks than Norway who has 47
great vid man! I did find it hilarious that you showed him throwin up a pizza at 3:30 though lol
Hahaha can’t believe you’re the first to catch that, if it was in a game I wouldn’t but practice gotta show the mistakes sometimes eh
You should come all the way up North too Narvik and watch Arctic Eagles! :D
I'll make a note!
You have to love the fans choreography with the claps.
A great talent!
Isn't he in the UK?? When I played in Europe we sometimes had to meet boosters in a big tent/building behind the arena after home games (Ger). The supporters would be in there having a beer or two and we'd come in and say hi. It was an obligation, but actually was usually pretty fun. There were also keg duties for certain members of the booster club/fans in the stands (for game time booze) - it was bizarre for us Canadians/Americans to see. Do they do that in Norway? You should post a vid if you have the footage. I think viewers would get a kick out of it if they do.
He started the year in Norway! Stuff like that varies team to team! I’ve got about 7 or so more of these videos ready and they did that in Germany and France!
Really fun video!
Thank you!!
Hot dog, waffle and strawberry jam!!!! 🤯
Hoodie was awesome too
It was so good, definitely a must try! Hoodie was awesome!
Cool video man, I live in Scotland, which team you going too? If you need any travel advice etc hit me up.
Thanks! All the videos are pre filmed so I’m back in Canada now but I was in Fife for the hockey game and spent a little time in Edinburgh!
@@RobertGreeley Ah you know what bud, I think I seen a little clip of that, which Fife game did you go to?
@@allanobrien91 they played Dundee!
@@RobertGreeley Ah nice man a local Derby, usually quite decent games.
look foward to the uk one
We got two!
Are you gonna make a video about the tilburg trappers?
Yup! That one is coming shortly!
My dad did play in stjernen and was the captin
No way!
Yeah he played he played also for many teams in Sweden and Denmark he played for like 8 years ago when i was a kid hos name was Rasmus Ericsson
4:57 🤘
Is the rink, NHL size?
Nope! Olympic size rinks!
It’s good that alternatives exist to play the sport
Yeah for sure, the NHL is not the only route to make a living that’s for sure!
Amazing
Thank you!
nice! you shuld go to sweden aswell
I’m working on a Sweden trip!
@@RobertGreeley Go for one of the classics: Djurgården - Färjestad, Färjestad - Frölunda or... AIK - Djurgården. The fans are more extreme in Sweden I must say. Also I have to comment on the "character" of Stjerne-Hallen, it pretty old, prb the oldest in EHL, they are building a new arena in Fredrikstad. Hopefully with a little less mold on the walls.
Just in time, he moved to Sheffield last month
lol yup, video came out like two days before he announced it!
looks like he went to shellfield
Yup! He made the move about two days after we posted the video lol
Other than that one corner where you were seated, there don't seem to be too many hockey fans here.
Smaller stadium but total attendance for that night was around 1,500 I think
ayy he plays with my buddy, Austin Cangelosi
He did yup! I got to meet Austin, great guy!
I am surprised how bad the facility is for a pro level and how slow the play is. The level of play reminds me of Junior B and most Junior B teams have a much better facility.
Nah Junior B comparison for level of play is way off, this isn't the best league in Europe but most of these players especially the imports are coming from the ECHL, NCAA D1 and top CHL programs. However, this arena is known as one of the oldest in the league and has been up for a renovation for years now but it's still an ongoing debate with the city!
Sup i love You Are my fav youtuber 😊
Thanks so much!
Top vid as per usual. 👏🏻👏🏻🤌🏻
Thank you so much!!
The last part in case anyone was wondering. "Not really that fucking good actually but good teams win on bad days"
Ah no way, thanks for that! I was going to hire a translator to get those couple of sentences but ended up running out of time!
STJERNEN WOWOOWOWOWOWOW
i live right next to it lol
Loved my time there!
happy to hear
@@RobertGreeley
I live in Fredrikstad. 50 dollars , 500 NOK for 1,5 hr with train is not "okay", thats a robbery. Way too expensive here in this backyard of a country.
I mean it’s definitely perspective but for a similar train ride in Canada I’m looking at $55-80 maybe sometimes as low as $40!
@@RobertGreeley Well id call that a robbery too :) But with Canada these days im not surprised. Funny to see you eat the dog in waffle like me, and not with ketchup like the majority. Almost like a second dessert.
beauty bud
Thanks bud!!
SPARTA ON TOP
STJERNEN ON BOTTOM
Lolol
It looked like this was going to be an interesting video, but I had to tune out less than two and a half minutes in because the "music" was driving me insane. I'd much rather hear what you have to say.
Sorry you feel that way, your feedback is noted!
It’s really sad to see how small their crowd seating is for professional hockey there. I can’t imagine they make much money.
I mean your housing is covered, team car, some food, your visas, and travel expenses. Basically, you're in a situation where you get to bank your salary no matter what cause you don't have any bills really
It’s just sad that the league is so small. Heia Oilers
Do you think they could expand to more teams?
@@RobertGreeley there has been debates to if they want to expand it to 12 teams but it looks like thats highly unlikely as they think that the smaller teams wouldnt be able to compete with the other teams and that would hurt the league and the interest in the sport
Hotdog with jam and waffle...
Don’t knock it before you try it!
Anyways your insanely underrated!
Vålerenga is norway most winning hockey team you should meet them instead
Maybe one day!

Why?
So Norwegians can play hockey now? --->Swede here
The Sweden v.s Norway rivalry is pretty intense eh?
No😂
Hahahah different than @trav4oilers
