From the USA here, yeah I'd be ditching a USA shirt in Finland, too. They are too smart to tolerate D. Trump. Finland is new to NATO, which DT wants to undermine for his buddy Putin.
We’ll see. Many of my American friends support Trump but they’re wealthy. Here in Finland people mostly think about the US foreign politics, which may often not be important to the Americans. In Finland the president doesn’t have almost any interior policy power anymore but the prime minister and government parties are responsible for the interior and EU politics. We have a lot of parties in the parliament. Don’t try to memorize this. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Everyone: Finns are quiet and reserved and don't like to talk too much to strangers. Robert at the Mestis game: 8:08 --> :D My dad took me in Jokerit game when I was probably 3-4 years old in '95-'96 and been a fan (not this enthusiastic tho) ever since. In 2014 they went to journey to KHL under part ownership with Russian oligarchs and after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine they decided to fall off from KHL and the future was very uncertain. When they announced their comeback as fully Finnish organization, playing on the home soil I was so happy and immediately booked tickets with my brother and father to go see and support them. Those jerseys are also the one they used in the '90s and bring back so many memories. I also like to point out we see The Americans i.e. US citizens often arrogant and loud but find Canadians very polite and modest, almost like us. For me you are two totally different breeds.
I was lucky to enjoy an Olympic hockey game years ago. It was Sweden vs Slovakia and I sat in a huge section of Slovaks. I felt like I was at a soccer match instead of a hockey game. They cheered and sang the ENTIRE game. Half the cheers were for Jagr lol. Very cool European Hockey experience i wont forget and on a Canadian sheet of ice😎
Almost 30 years ago I went to a game in Freiburg Germany, an old small arena, I don't even know what the league the team played in. It was packed, everyone was standing, constant cheering and chanting. If I go to a junior game here in Canada, the stands are empty, everybody just sits there, the only cheering is when a goal is scored.
@RobertGreeley In a sense, its a shout , honor the colors !!! ( team colors ) in my case yellow and green. Im from Tampere and I flag for Ilves (Lynx) .
I did love those Old Jokerit jerseys. White and red. So beautiful. What's the point of these new colours? I know. The era of Selänne, Lind, Janecky and so many others. Just stick to the original.
Fans are a tribe. That's why they stand behind a team. Doesn't matter if it's a Jokerit, Ottawa Senators or Manchester United - there's always a tribe who support the team. People like to belong in a like-minded group. So, now you know the answer, if you ask "Why do you support Jokerit (or whatever team), and what's so special about them? Simple; It's tribalism :)
I have never been in watching even one game, well I actually find hockey pretty boring to watch. One reason might that around here hockey teams are small that do badly on bigger leagues.
He should go see small liiga club games how they fan work. Small teams fans have more ❤heart❤ how to fans own clubs they not just fan it if it play good like in most big clubs. If big club start play bad they just lose alot fans we call em ''onnenonkiat'' = lucky charms. Like jukurit we are smallest club in 1st legue but us fans are what you have to come see.

In the early days. Before the time of Selänne.
Thanks for the info!
Miksi ei ole Sulanderin nimeä katossa?
next time go to saipas game
@@MatiasKaltiainen noted!
TPS from Finland🤪❤️
Hope you enjoyed the video!
@RobertGreeley really did👍
I was so confused why you kept calling them "jokeritch" but then I realized their team name is jokerit hockey club so maybe there was some confusion there
The city rival HIFK, unsure if you have covered a game of theirs before...
I haven’t, this was my first ever time in Finland, only got to spend 3 days in Helsinki!
You first walked the wrong way. I know becasue I live in that street
When did I walk the wrong way?
@@RobertGreeley From the start of the video you walked Urheilukatu to south towards fottball arena when you should have walked Norderskjöld street to east. but if you did it only for filming video. It's a long way to go around those football fields if you wen't ice hockey arena from the backdr´oos near parking lots.
Everyone: Finns are quiet and reserved and don't like to talk too much to strangers.
Robert at the Mestis game: 8:08 --> :D
My dad took me in Jokerit game when I was probably 3-4 years old in '95-'96 and been a fan (not this enthusiastic tho) ever since.
Thanks for sharing this story, safe travels back to the next game you get to see!
kiekko espoo!
u come to finland to watch icehoykey and u go to B series to watch it XD
Nothing wrong with watching hockey throughout different leagues!
Go to ifk game!

Thanks for sharing!
JOKErit😂😂😂😂
I once went to one too or twice, and it was horribly loud, i got irritated, not going anymore. Theyre like the most loudest finns i ever met
Tunnusta väriä !!!
That's a team in Finland right?
@RobertGreeley In a sense, its a shout , honor the colors !!! ( team colors ) in my case yellow and green. Im from Tampere and I flag for Ilves (Lynx) .
I'm sorry, I keep hearing you say "Jukurit" instead of "Jokerit" and that's completely different team. :D
Liiga cup is called Kanada malja for respect of origin of hockey. 👌Robert
Interesting, thanks for letting me know!
It's called Kanada-malja because it came from Canada. It was donated by the Finnish community in Canada.
Go watch a SaiPa game

I did love those Old Jokerit jerseys. White and red. So beautiful. What's the point of these new colours? I know. The era of Selänne, Lind, Janecky and so many others. Just stick to the original.
When did they wear white and red?!
"Nothing worse than being confused as an American".
:( ouch
Nah, most of the Americans are very cool, nice, and helpful… I lived there for 5 years
And then take him to see some mestis team against a russian national league team nice choice
Jokerit🔴🟡
A great club!
Another great video but gotta work on your pronunciations…it’s not ‘Jokeritch’
Glad you enjoyed!
Best kind Bye
Love it!
Come to Germany, it's way better
Brother I've been to Germany more times than I can count 😂
I have never been in watching even one game, well I actually find hockey pretty boring to watch.
One reason might that around here hockey teams are small that do badly on bigger leagues.
What sports do you like wathcing?
That is not JOkers halll. THAT IS HIFK! so you are going to wrong game.
Go watch Helsinki IFK game instead much better

He should go see small liiga club games how they fan work. Small teams fans have more ❤heart❤ how to fans own clubs they not just fan it if it play good like in most big clubs. If big club start play bad they just lose alot fans we call em ''onnenonkiat'' = lucky charms. Like jukurit we are smallest club in 1st legue but us fans are what you have to come see.
Would love to get out to more games!
