it's kinda like if you've ever used stretch wrap to package a box, you go for maximum stretch coming out of a bend, not pre-stretching then rounding a corner

The technique actually makes a lot of sense but for solo wrapping it looks like it’d be difficult to do

I assume you do it solo by going slowly with smaller triangles with your technique

I've been doing this for 10 years now. Not revolutionary at all, just seems normal to me, especially when wrapping with calendared film.
