Yeah that game was a big missed opportunity for me . It's weird cause most movie videogames need to stretch breif scenes into entire levels or areas, like in the spongebob movie videogame where the "now that we are men" song is stretched into an entire segment, whereas I feel that in the coraline videogame somehow they ended up doing the opposite, they just ommited a lot of stuff and only showed important scenes briefly while having a lot of filler in between. Honestly the game should have expanded more on the nightmare sequences they were by far the cooler and most interesting things. I really believe that since adapting the movie directly doesn't exactly work that well, maybe they should focus on the important side stories, which they do already to a level, but I think it could have been expanded upon to make the game much better. This would have also provided great theory fodder, but as it stands right now this is probably as far as we can go. Also random detail, why is the doll completely absent from the game? It's like they went half way Adapting the movie then took stuff from the book and ended up with a mess. Anyways nice video :)
I wonder if the game developers did rely more on the book. I don't know that changing scenes would be easy for Laika since they do stop motion, but maybe they cut out more scenes that we know and that's what the game just latched onto. It definitely gives you a nice way to have a new experience. Some games, Little Mermaid 2 comes to mind, were so cut and dry to the movie that they weren't even fun.
I *really* want a remake of this game for modern consoles. For one thing, graphics in video games these days look real. So we could go through a Coraline video game that looks like the movie. And they could do what they did with "Alice" on the PS3. They could make it a horror game and have unlockables that work as short "sequel cutscenes." So I think they should remake this... It would be amazing. Hope I'm not the only one.
@@oneupneko821 Id really like it too. Its really unlikely , but it would be really great, if we got a remake to see how modern game design philoshophies can make this a formidable expirience.
I think it was just a case of deadline disease. The poor developers probably got sucked to a pump to release anything in time. It's a shame because the character models and maps are beautifully done but the animations, gameplay and story itself are clearly some sort of beta/bare bones version of what they envisioned. In the last chapter Coraline doesn't even have any lines???? And the final battle with the hand is completely cut off from the story. They obviously were going for something, but had no time to fully complete it.
I watched a walkthrough one time, and not ONCE did they mention the ghost eyes until Coraline made the bet. If you don't watch the movie first, you will be completely lost!

So as someone who has watched Coraline since I was a very small girl I wanted to help point out a detail you might have missed. In the scene right before Coraline is thrown behind the mirror you need to look at the mantle of the fireplace the snow globes are already there not only that but the one that Coraline's parents get trapped in is already snowed over I think the reason the other mother did not freak out when Coraline escaped the 1st time was because she knew she would have to come back because she had already taken her parents
Thinking about it...What if at the end of the movie because Coraline saved her parents from being trapped in the snow globe both Coraline and her parents always were trapped in the Limbo pink palace and the parent didn't notice?
Yasss!! So exciting! Omgosh I didn't even know there was a Coraline video game, how cool! Interesting... I haven't played a video game since back in the day, so my fav game of all time is still Kingdom Hearts. Cheers, girl!
Okay so I know you're probably done doing theories about the movie version of coraline by now, but I realized not long ago when I was rewatching coraline for like the hundredth time, that maybe coraline didn't actually have to go through the door to get to the other world. It was just a way to make coraline think she was in the real world. I think that maybe coraline was actually transported to the limbo pink palace area in the other world at the very being of the movie when she threw a rock at the cat and then ran away because she got scared. She stepped inside the fairy ring and assuming you don't actually have to go down the well to be transported to the other world, she might have been transported without even realizing it. We don't even see wybie until after this happens, so I'm thinking he was just someone the beldam created somehow or copied from someone else who was in the real world that went into the other world through a portal and the whole time the beldam was controlling wybie. At one point coraline even says the neighbors in the other world are better, so it's possible the beldam even made wybie more annoying for coraline as a way to think the other world is better. I also think that if coraline went through the portal at the very beginning, the doll didn't really have any purpose besides to scare coraline and get her used to herself having button eyes and help her find the door leading to the beldam's lair. Especially since the beldam was able to control the doll in the supposed real world before coraline even goes through the door

I have the Coraline play station 2 and when her father said to water the plants I got what I thought was the water can and for a joke I walked to Coraline’s mother and moved around her and said, “Pour it on her mom!” Then I tried watering the plants and it didn’t work. Then my dad told me it didn’t work because it wasn’t actually a watering can... it was really a tea kettle! Lol 😂 so it wasn’t water it was TEA 🍵

I like that there is a tennis court in the game as there is also one in the book which says to me that the makers of the game must have draw inspiration from both the book and film.
Yes, it seems like the game had notes and drawings from the creatives that didn't make it into the film. I would have loved to get more out of that barn as well.
i was always curious about the barn because i dont think it shows up in the other mothers lair, she never explored it, and we know they dont put things in without reason-was this also another one of her entry ways? but then why wouldnt it be in her world? was it hidden? this could also be one of the ways mrs lovat visited her to work out the deal (assuming we still think she did)
Hello. The Fangirl I have seen all your theory’s but have you thought about that the bedlam goes to the “real world” if you seen some part of the movie where she acts like the real mother she has eye and not button eye she can make thing look so real I hope this is a new theory for you to see
Nintendo 3Ds. And I own the game for Wii. I ended up getting stuck on it though, because some of the mini games were too hard. That was years ago though, so I do not know if I could beat it now.
I’m nearly 18, love Coraline the movie and the book and have done since it came out, and no longer get creeped out by it. This game looks creepy though.
Quick question if the ghost kids are kids but they claim that the beldam “ ate up our lives” does that mean that she killed them when they got older or did they die from the magic?
Hello I know I’m late to comment on this video I do believe that your pink palace limbo is correct, but another reason why I think Coralline’s parents are acting so nice is because since they know the book went well they don’t have that stress anymore and have more time to spend on Coralline. Also I love your videos😊
My best console is the Xbox 360. Sure it is old, but it introduced me to gaming. It got me in love with a game, Halo, and wanting all the Lego Games (an impossible feat).
I’ve been a PC gamer since I was two. My parents would put children’s games on our computer like Put Put Visits the Zoo and I’d play and replay those games for hours. Now I mostly play Skyrim, Undertale, and Nancy Drew games on there but I spent a full two weeks playing Kingdom Hearts 3 as soon as I got it. I just finished it yesterday and I will admit that I was a complete sobbing mess on the inside after I beat it. Tears of joy, sorrow, and relief since I was lucky enough to unlock the secret ending. Great theory btw. My dads friend Katie has a PS2, I might try and get the Coraline video game and see if she’ll let me go over and play it.
I was thinking for a while that coraline and here real parents are stuck in the pink limbo place realm. Because if her parents were in the real world, wouldn’t they be worried and be wondering where coraline was? Like any other parent? And if she was stuck in the pink limbo place realm, wouldn’t she want to be happy even though her parents aren’t there? Her parents start acting nice because they know that they aren’t in the real world but they don’t want to tell coraline because it would probably scare her. Just a theory i had. I don’t know if it’s true.
PlayStation for life!!! Favorite console from the series was the PS2! Every Friday I loved coming home and either playing games on it or watching my sis or dad play
The Fangirl Do you think you could watch the Japanese animated Mario Bros movie and see if you could figure out who the prince in the movie actually is? It's quite a mystery and the movie is here on UA-cam in English subtitles and someone did a dub..well I wouldn't trust the dub they were saying things not in the script. It would be really cool tho!😃
Actually the fact the rat enemies are spawning in the real world could be referencing how in the original novels the rats act as the Beldams agents. In the novel there was no doll the rats would relay any information they would gather in the real world to the other mother. Also in the movie you can the see the rats disguised as cute circuse mice going to the real world and lured coraline in the first night. There was also a rat who managed to steal the key from the other world. I don't really like the pink Palance limbo theory because I want coraline to have a happy ending, and this theory makes me upset at the notion she never really escaped.
Just a question. Do you think the beldam dressed up as their victim’s family members when she catches them? Because she looks like coraline’s mother like a lot or maybe it’s just a coincidence?
Can you do an Epic Mickey theory, please? I’ve never seem a video about an Epic Mickey theory. Also, I don’t have a favorite console. I’m sorry for the weirdness of the edits.
My Coraline theory is that the cat is in charge of everything. Papa Legba is known as a trickster deity associated with the voodoo culture and so are dolls! He gives eternal life in exchange for the soul of an innocent child. I think that's what the cat is doing, calling all the shots, posing as a friend and ally but in reality he's just bringing them closer to her. The Beldam wanted eternal life but she didn't know the cost. That's why the Beldam doesn't like him, he's keeping her down there! He brings the key back up to the pink palace once the child is dead so the Beldam never gets to it and Mrs. Lovat made a deal with him to keep her grandson safe. That's why he stays with Wybie and that's why she invited Coraline's family to stay! It was all part of the deal. Just my theory.
hello Fangirl and I'm glad you also helped me possibly prove my theory right that's the changling video, your daughter, that one girl, the theorizor and you that confirms my theory... that I actually think Coraline is a witch and that the other world is not a diemontion but possibly a mirror world ... if you want to know my theory comment my comment and I'll let you know more and I'm a huge fan :)

I'm finally early!
Yay notification squad!
I'm pretty sure I remember there being a cheat code (?) where you can give Coraline button eyes 🤔
I must look for that now!
Well Done Team Alpha Gaming Certified ;)
Please make more coraline videos fan girl
I'll try!
Awesome and cool! ^_^
I just realized how come in the movie Mrs Jones new what key to use on the door to the other world
Just a question. Do you think the beldam dressed up as their victim’s family members when she catches them? Because she looks like coraline’s mother like a lot or maybe it’s just a coincidence?
Do a theory on this topic
Fangirl try to play the Nintendo DS Version of the game
I had the Coraline video game I think I still have it it was fun even though it was too hard for me to pass
my fav is the switch☑i love your vids by the way
Thank you! 💕 The Switch is an amazing system
Can you do an Epic Mickey theory, please? I’ve never seem a video about an Epic Mickey theory.
Also, I don’t have a favorite console. I’m sorry for the weirdness of the edits.
Ohhh that's a great suggestion! I know we had both those games, I'll have to see if I can find them!
The Fangirl thank you!
There is this other coraline game called coraline unlock the door that’s super fun but hard
the nintendo ds version of coraline was interesting too worth the look
Yeah I heard someone mention it's different so now I'm curious!
You get to see in the background the head of the girls on the chest when you go down to mrs forcibles and mrs spinks room
I NEVER KNEW
THERE WAS
A VIDEO
GAME?!!
It was not very popular (and not a great game), so now it's fairly hard to find.
My favorite console is PlayStation 4 I can play every kingdom hearts game on it.
That is a fantastic point! 😁 I think I'll make a KH theory next month. 🤔
@@TheFangirlWatches OMG thank you
hello Fangirl and I'm glad you also helped me possibly prove my theory right that's the changling video, your daughter, that one girl, the theorizor and you that confirms my theory... that I actually think Coraline is a witch and that the other world is not a diemontion but possibly a mirror world ... if you want to know my theory comment my comment and I'll let you know more and I'm a huge fan :)
I didn't know there was a coraline videogame!
Yes and it's very unique, like Coraline!
THE SWITCH IS AMAZING!
My favorite video game console was the PS1 but now is the PS4!!!
I wish the ps4 was backwards comparable. My ps1 isn't in great shape but I still have all my games.
@@TheFangirlWatches me too but I wish the ps4 had disc compatibility to play ps1,ps2, and ps3 disc games!!!
