What if the reason Wybie looks so guilty, is because he caused the Joneses car crash? He might have crossed the road on his motorcycle at the wrong time. That mask of his might have obstructed his view and he didn't see them in time?

@@TheFangirlWatches Though that begs the question: if Coraline and her parents are in purgatory and none of them met Wybie while alive, did he die as well after them (bike crash?) and that's how he ends up in purgatory with them? The very end of the film, where everything is now colorful and peaceful as opposed to foggy and gloomy) could be the afterlife, with everyone able to move on.
That does explain it because, the mask might be his hiding place. To hide to show he is the one tomake them crash. But, i am sure she would know by now. But, what if he has powers. Think about it, he always apears randomly! From a therioe of him being a fariy!? Idk... Might be true! But, i like to think he is a good person! Cause, maybe he is nervous because, he is scaredfor coraline! Cause, he didn't believe coraline and called her "CRAZY!" Or he could be faking or he could not be, and scaredfor her.
@@Alastorsimp1933 Could also be that he needs to help Coraline to free himself of guilt, redeem himself and move on to the other side. Unfinished business is what causes a soul to be bound to the world of the living.
This is definitely a different take on Coraline. And who knows if this is what the creators intended, maybe the celebration at the end of the film is the jones celebrating that Coriline remarkably recovered from her injuries

@@Kaii2456 They replied to a now-deleted comment :) But even if it was a funeral, sweets wouldn't be uncommon! My family brings things like coffee and candy to keep our energy up to make room for the mourning. It's a common practice around the world :).
This actually also explains the behaviour of Coraline’s parents. In Coraline’s comastate, she subconsciously blames them and makes them into these horrible, neglectful parents to rationalize her ideas. When she comes back home at the end of the movie her parents are happy and doing the things she always wanted to do and enjoying their time with her. This would be something parents would do after their child almost lost their life and is finally back home from the hospital.
I also think the Beldam’s face in the garden could be a metaphor for the fact that what happened (the car crash and coma) will always be a part of the Jones’ lives even if everything passed a long time ago.
The ghost children could be acual ghosts in the afterlife or they could be a distorted view of other children in the hospital Coraline’s in. This explains their speech at the end. “It’s over forever. For us.” Their probably going home or they woke up from a coma themselves, therefor leaving the world Coraline has created.

Yes! I love this theory. It makes a lot of sense. Especially if you go and watch Claire Wineland's video of her experience in a coma, what Coraline experiences would make sense combined with a child's imagination.

While I don't like coma theories in general, yours aee actually really good, you actually back them up well, people don't like them cause most of them are just like "magic isn't real! Must be in a comma!". Like between thid theory and your don't hug me I'm scared one, you have really made me reconsider what a comma theory can be and that it's the maker's fault for being bad not the theory type's.
Well thank you! I try to back it up, but until I put out a coma theory with Don't Hug Me I'm Scared I had no idea how unpopular they were. But that video went over well so I did one for Coco (the evidence is really there imo) and people reacted so negatively to that I swore I'd never do another. The script for this video sat for 2 years before I finally made it lol

I found another point to support this theory- At the end of the movie, in the garden, we see that a white balloon is attached to one of miss spink's and forcible's dog..and from what I know,white is a symbol for the afterlife or death

I did a few Ghibli's before and ended up fighting copyright strikes, so I've been afraid to touch them again. But, now that I have the live-action format and barely show any images from the movies, it might actually more doable now! And I did just order The Wind Rises. You got 'guilty' from the way Wybie acted? I had the feeling that he was abused. Possibly mentally and emotionally, since he doesn't have any visible physical marks on him.
Wringing your hands and neck is more of a nervous reaction. Abuse could be in there too, but I doubt Wybie would be brave enough to steal the doll if it was an abuse situation.
@@TheFangirlWatches Do you think there's enough information to do a theory on whether or not Wybie was abused, either during the movie or maybe his parents were abusive and CPS placed him with his grandma? All I'm saying for sure is that parents who love their kids do not name them Wyborne or allow the other parent to name them that.

or could completely be autism or adhd, cause be all of those things but i always thought of him as autistic with the stimming(sounds,motions, gestures ex:excessive rubbing, scratching head, holding hands together) and also his hard time with eye contact ( not in the other world), unique interest in slugs/his bike motorcycle thingy,or his social awkardness and anxiety talking to coraline.

when both parents said" welcome home Coraline we've been waiting for you" to her that means something and she's thinking hard about the car crash and being a coma still Coraline gets curious about the house and the place is new to her and is scared to go near the well.

I love this theory and despite the fact that I haven’t watched Coraline in a while, something I do remember is that (correct me if I’m wrong) but Coraline parents are always seen in the same clothes, except for the suit that Charlie is seen in when they go to town. Yea, it would be difficult to change their clothes every once in a while. but if Laika was willing to put Henry Selicks face on a dollar bill, as well as make separate outfits for Coraline, then I don’t see why they wouldn’t for her parents. What if her parents are never seen in different clothes because the clothes we see them in, are the same clothes that Coraline last saw them in. I mean, the clothes they wear aren’t exactly clothes I would think someone would wear repeatedly.
And if this theory doesn’t hold up, then it could work in with the theory that the Jones family is extremely broke. If your a parent and you can barely afford clothes, then I would think you would spend any money for clothes, on your kids clothes. But that’s just me.

I have even scarier theory I think. What if Coraline was a schizophrenic? Look. Her parents drive her to the Pink Palace, in theory - psychiatric hospital. Coraline is so alone. That why she imagine her parents as bad parents, to not feel so sad. Beldam is a nurse. She really loves Coraline, because she is just a kid and she needs love. But when Coraline discovers that she can't leave Pink Palace, she starts to imagine Beldam as horrifying witch. Cat is just a cat, door to the other world are the door made for children (they lead to the Beldam's office) to have more fun. Other Father is a nice doctor, Other People are just other patiens of the hospital. Ghost Children are the previous patiens that Coraline saw on the picture somewhere. Grandma and W-B are neighbours, W-B is a volunteer, who helps with "safe patiens" like Coraline. I would write more, but this comment is long enough 😂

The coma idea is pretty good. There was once a guy who got hit on the head at his graduation but for like 5 seconds lived a whole life and got married and had a kid and he still remembers it all today and has therapy because he genuinely believed it happened. Time works funny when you're asleep

I've noticed when Coraline plays the game of finding the ghost children's eyes, and her parents with the other mother. Coraline
looks into the middle of the triangle It shows an gray color in the garden, & Then shows the color of the ghost children's eye.
Could that mean the Other world
where the Other-Mother lives in,
Is some kind of Dead-World, Cause this was the place where The lost children was at Before they died, And they got trapped there forever, And they died with the buttons in their eyes. Is that Triangle stone Coraline got from The Old ladies In the basement

Aww your kitten is so cute! We have four cats, two of which we rescued as strays. The first one is a Siamese my parents found literally in the middle of the road (he wasn't hit by a car, he just got stuck there for a minute because he was trying to cross the road) that we named Hedwig, and the other is a Tabby/possible Tabby-Serenghetti or Bobcat mix we found outside our house about two weeks ago, and we are currently stuck between Echo and Shira for a name.

I like this theory.. It kinda explains why there are the big time gaps and other things. I don't know if we will ever find the solution to this film's mystery, but it's fun to think about these many possibilities. And if we never have the real answer or don't know it, everyone can have their own theory to be true. c:

Apparently I've been doing UA-cam wrong. People want to be depressed or freaked out, so I guess I should work more in that direction lol. Really though, I'm so glad you're getting such a response from this video. I wrote it 2 years ago and was so afraid of another backlash from a coma theory that I've just sat on it. It almost never saw the light of day 😂

I have another theory, maybe Coraline’s imagining everything about the other world, out of boredom, and since she is interested in going on adventures. Maybe that’s why her parents didn’t remember anything, because none it happened possibly. Coraline could’ve imagined this for months, so that could be why fall suddenly turns into spring in what seems like a few days have gone by at the end of the movie.
I can go with that cuz when i was sick once when i was 2 years old i thought up things that passed the time

Actually I don't think a coma theory is lazy in this case because it makes sense and there more evidence for this one than compaired to other coma theories. I really liked this theory! It also reminds me of the theories on Over the Garden Wall.

I subscribe to your channel for some time now and your honestly by far one of the best channel on youtube in my opinion, i ABSOLUTLY LOVE the way your theories uncover so much more than meets the eye in movies and animated movies, and i came today wondering if i might make a request. Would you please consider doing a theorie on Little nightmares ? The second opus is coming out in 2020 (january if i recall correctly) and yet there's so few we know about six's history (the protagonist of the game) and the hole Little nightmares universe in general. There's so many details and pieces of informations to pick up that i figured you'l like digging into it, and i'v been dying for some time now to hear your thoughts and theories on it.

Have you ever noticed the "small detail" that Wyborns head is cranked to the side so far? Did he get his neck broken? Maybe on that motorcycle?
your vids are so awesome the fangirl i would like to point something out, ok so remember how the water is brown?, well i think i know why that is i have read about cases where if someone hides a body/bodies in a water tank the water has a brownish tint to in depending on how long the body/bodies have been rotting away for, think about it we never get to see what happens to the bodies of the 3 ghost children.....and if u look at the room they are in when Coraline, is in the mirror the bed that they are on has dark water on it sooooo maybe another portal to the real world?

Made it to the end! Cool theory you brought up a lot of solid points. I don’t remember what car my dad had when I was 8 I just remember it was a blue ford and you had to push the seats forward to get in the backseat because there were only two doors. Anyway he let someone barrow it to get their kids and they got in a car reck on their way after a drunk hit them head on by driving in the wrong lane and according to my dad the damage was so bad that if the kids had been in the car they would likely be dead or in the hospital fighting for their life. He refuses to get any type of car with limited backseat space because of that, which given how many times me or my brother needed to be picked up from school for various reasons I can understand the logic of it now instead of pitching hissy fits because he wouldn’t get another cool looking car like when he had to replace the one his friend wrecked.

Yeah some cars are just super dangerous for more than 2 passengers. I think that's improved a lot in recent years, but my Beatle was a 2002 and not fit at all for a car seat.

They Are All Dead, Which Explains Why She Is Stuck In The “Other World”. AWESOME!!!
First off, Happy Birthday Fangirl/Megan. Coma theories are great when done right and you were fantastic. I have always theorized that Coraline made it out but not because she moved on. Instead, I believe there's a deeper destiny in play. I have my theories but most recently I had a huge parallel between Gotham (Fox) final season Bruce Wayne and Coraline. The Other Mother is Rahs Al Ghul, Coraline is Bruce but instead of pushing Coraline towards a said destiny, Other Mother is trying to stop it. Just a thought to add.
And here I am, having never watched Gotham, really wanting to go binge it right now! lol
what if Coraline is dead and Wybie is in fact her guardian angel trying to get Coraline on the other side so that she could be reunited with her parents again even Coraline's father says " we just want to keep you safe and not lose you again".
What if when the Charlie and Mel are captured by the Beldame, they have actually tried to make a deal to save their daughter’s life, but instead become another reason for Coraline to “play the game”. I love your videos ❤️❤️

Interesting theory. I've always thought that everything was kinda off. The movie felt like a bad dream or something. Also, I know this is probably different but in The Flash tv show, The speed force takes form of his dead mother. And the speed force is kind of an afterlife for speedsters. I don't know how to word it but, maybe the Beldam taking the form of Coraline's mother is kinda doing what the speed force is trying to do. I'm probably thinking too deep and I know this video was a long time ago, but it just seemed weird to me.
