I did the first half of my SEL training in tailwheels at a bush flying school. My crazy instructor used to swing the stick on short final sometimes, taking me out from over the grass and over the corn that surrounded the airfield. He would then say "you have the controls, and no go-around." Years later I was on a rental checkride and I got very bad shear on short final. The instructor crapped his pants and I simply moved over and put the plane down on the runway. There are flaws in the way modern flight training works. Life is not a stabilized approach and not every runway is built to accomodate the big iron. Definitely work on some SHTF drills like this and learn how to get out of a bad situation, and then go ahead and fly your stabilized approach as standard. Great video. Great idea.
Fantastic tutorial 👍. I’d love to see Wind-shear Microbursts simulated in MSFS, and have the likes of a PMDG 737 detect it on a short final. Be great to simulate the escape manoeuvre 😳
