Justin Vernon's vocal range is just incredible. One of the best really. Taylor has always had such a pretty tone and as a fan I can tell how she's worked on her vocal over the years. She doesn't have the strongest voice (idk what the technical terms are) but feels she knows how to play to her strengths

i think they're singing it in slightly different ways because they were recorded separately. I'm guessing Bon did his part after Taylor. If they were together in the same room, they likely would have played off each other and brought their level of intensity more in line with each other. Just my opinion.

I agree bon iver's voice is beautiful jaw dropping. I love a deep singing voice with range. My only compliment is he miss is queue on "So step right out" it was a little awkward there because he had to rush it to catch back up. But this is one of my favorite songs on the album.
Think its so good because its almost like two people in an argument and he's getting all stressed and angry and speaking over her and she's staying calm in the way she's talking, sounds like a real discussion between two ex lovers
