Aaron Dessner (pianist) is friends with Bon Iver. Taylor is a HUGE Bon Iver fan but was too embarrassed to ask him to be on this song. So Aaron asked him and he didn’t even hesitate. He came up with the bridge. Taylor thought she was in an alternate reality where Bon Iver is singing with her. She didn’t want to get too excited about it until it was totally finished. It’s a FANTASTIC pairing of their harmonies. I could listen to this song all day, too.
Welcome to the rabbit hole..... She is a far better singer than most people give her credit for. And she is pretty much the greatest lyricist working today.mm
Joe Alwyn wrote the first verse, and was playing piano, singing it. She asked if they could flesh the song out. She then spoke with Jack Antonoff about it being a duet. He suggested Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, which is who she wanted to sing it with but was too nervous to ask him. They sent the song to Justin, he wrote the bridge, recorded it and sent it back. All that ended up in a song that was then nominated for a Grammy. I really hope they sing together again in the future as their voices are incredible together.
On point, except she talked to Aaron Dessner who produced 11 of the 17 tracks on the album. He’s the one who connected Taylor and Justin (Bon Iver’s leading vocalist/writer) and the ended up writing Renegade, The Birch and a couple of songs with The Nationals (Aaron’s band), Coney Island on Taylor’s Evermore and The Alcott on The National’s album. Justin also appears in Taylor’s Evermore on the title track.
They filmed this during covid, which is why Bon Iver was in another location. Highly recommend My Tears Ricochet from Long Pond next. It’s about her original & long-term producer who owned her original masters. They were incredibly close when she was a teenager and getting started. He knew she wanted to buy them when the opportunity came up. But to get more money, he sold them to someone he knew she detested (a real industry scum bag named Scooter Braun). Never offered her the chance. And it gutted her that this man she knew so long, someone she considered family, would do that to her. This is why she is re-recording all her old albums and re-releasing them. Basically taking control of her music and the masters. And in the process, greatly reducing the value of her original masters now owned by Scooter. Most people who are aware of this, will ONLY listen to the Taylor’s Version of albums once she re-releases. She has 2 left to do, but it’s a powerful story.
Actually, Scott gave her a chance, he offered her that for every new album she would receive one old one back, essentially tying her to Big Machine for quite some time. Of course, Taylor said no deal and as soon as her contract was up she left, so Scott lost his cash cow and got greedy selling Big Machine with her first 6 albums to Scooter.
Scooter Braun has also previously been involved in cyberbullying her after the Kanye-phone-call incident which contributed to her hate of him. When she exposed his sketchy history and went fully public to create the Taylor’s Version catalog, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and I think (can’t remember if it was confirmed) Justin Bieber all dropped SB as a manager. So he lost all their stuff plus Taylor’s once she released the TV of each album. She has a few songs about SB, mostly on Midnights.
As you travel the Taylor Swift road you will come to realize she is special...a generational talent who is arguably one of the best story teller/songwriters in the business.
One of the most special things about her to me is the fact that she is basically genreless at this point. I mean she won AOTY at the Grammy's 4 time and every single album has been a different genre.
Just a hint: When you watch the My Tear Ricochet video, please watch to the very end of the video. Sometimes people stop the song with a couple seconds left and they don't hear the sigh at the end. That sigh has become a bit legendary and lots of swifties will have to post little sad faces if you miss it. 😉
I think you'd probably enjoy all of the Long Pond sessions, based on what you said about this one. They are recordings of the songs from the Folklore album.
Bon Iver is a music band, the main vocal artist named Justin Vernon, "exile" is a track from album "folklore", in this album, none of the songs is about Taylor's own life, they are all from Taylor's imagination. People always said she can only write break up songs, actually, that's just the public's prejudice against her.
That is not true, there are songs that are about Taylor's life "my tears ricochet" the jewels I gave you, they were the albums that went gold, platinum, and diamond, "my stolen lullabies were her albums that Scott sold out from under her. The Great American Dynasty, the last part of it is where she bought Holiday House in R.I., "Invisible String" is about Joe, and "the lakes" is about her "isn't it romantic that all elegies eulogize me", "I've too far for some name dropping sleaze tell me what are my words worth". I have to ask are you a new Swifty?
Taylor herself said Folklore came from her imagination. She made up characters and stories. Maybe you're the new swiftie if you can't take Taylor at her word and respect her work for what it is. @@Violet316
What i love about Taylor is that she has done so many genres now that literally ANYONE could find something they like. They just have to be willing to try. Im happy to see you find your appreciation in songs like this and thanks for opening your mind 😊
Welcome!!! I’m not surprised you got an amazing reaction in the first vid. Swifties favorite pastime is watching other people turn into swifties. We’re here for the journey if you want to dive in!!! We will devour ALL the content 😅
Here we go again with people discovering taylor’s songs (I love it). So, you need to hear all folklore album. It’s a very emotional one. And the short film of all too well.
I was at the 3rd concert in Sydney and it was how you described mayhem on the roads as all roads lead to Accor stadium to see Taylor, she played this in the surprise songs on the night and there wasn’t a dry eye around me, welcome to the Swifties
Appreciate your genuine Taylor Swift reactions - Bon Iver is the name of the band - Their frontman is singing here His name is Justin Vernon -Subscribed
Her range of music is imcomparable! So many diffferent styles and genres. She has an incredible gift of writing songs that in mere words paint pictures for her listeners. She is also an absolute bad ass for overcoming all the hate she got with the kanye dramas and then not to mention having her label sell off her masters. But she is such a boss for taking matters into her own hands and rerecording her masters. What an absolute legend. She also has an incredible relationship with her fans and brings joy to so many people globally. Enjoy the ride!
So you’ve watched one of her videos, this song(long pond session), now try T sawift live..a good intro to that is Ready for It from Reputation tour..you will quickly understand why she is selling out stadiums all over the world. Have fun and enjoy the journey!
I heard this song for the first time a few days ago. My reaction to would have been 🤬🤬🤬 The words are so haunting. I loved hearing each person's perspective. It really was like listening to a couple explaining their breakup
I’m sure you have a million suggestions already but All Too Well, the 10 minute version from the vault is what made me a die hard swiftie. I highly recommend the lyric video first to get the full impact of the story, and then the Short Film after, which she wrote and directed, and just adds to the depth of the song. I’m loving your TS reactions so far! (Also the Falcons shirt!!)
Bon Iver is Justin Vernon's project; he lives in Wisconsin (state has a border w/Canada). Bon Iver is his joke on _bon_ _hiver_ which translates to Good Winter. Bon Soir: good evening. Bon Voyage: have a nice trip Bon Jour: hello, or Good Day. Film is recorded during the lockdowns in 2020. Vernon had a camera person; Taylor had pre -positioned cameras in Dessner's NY studio.
You should react to the full Long Pond Session including the Interviews they do before every song - its just beautiful! Taylors discography is very versatile, but i think you will LOVE Folklore especially in the Long Pond Sessions
@@Violet316i think, renegade was a song for Joe !! I think that is when Joe and her were having problems and she wanted to write a song about it because she has said in the past that songwriting helps her get through life. The "collab" with big red machine was just a facade to hide what she was going through at that time....
Wow!!! Such a good reaction. A lot of new fans came on board with her folklore and evermore albums. You may want to check out the song evermore from the evermore album. It also features Bon Iver (Justin Vernon). On a personal level, I was having a dark time last year, suffering from depression, feeling hopeless and listening to evermore changed something in my brain- even though I'd heard it many times since 2020. I can't explain what happened, but i just didn't feel alone anymore. I felt seen. It's a testament to the power of music, and specifically the power of Taylor's writing. If you continue your Taylor journey, you're going to hear lots of stories from Swifties that are similar to mine. I'm a near 50 year old Gen Xer and I can't compare her connection to her fan base with anyone else. Very excited for you to discover the versatility and creativity of Taylor's full catalog. Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts!!
I’m sure you have a million suggestions already but All Too Well, the 10 minute version from the vault is what made me a die hard swiftie. Great review, insight and reaction to this masterpiece. I loved it the first time I heard it. One of my favorites of hers. The folklore album got me through major surgery and Covid lockdown. If you like this song, check out Fortnight and Down Bad on TTPD. There are many other songs on the new album I love….and still processing them.
You would enjoy every performance from the Long Pond Studio sessions. They’re so great. Best live vocal performances in my opinion are from her Live in Paris concert - Cornelia Street, Death by a Thousand Cuts and Daylight
One of my faves! Justin Vernon's voice is incredible! Love the Long Pond sessions. I highly suggest "Epiphany" written during the pandemic for heros in war and medical field. gets me crying every time. I am new here. I need to see if you have already done it.
Anything from the long pond studio session sounds perfect for you. Be sure to watch the ones where she gives a short explanation of the songs before hand.
I love the long pond version of this song more than the album. I adore this song too. I listened to it on repeat for a month. It’s so beautiful their voices together is amazing. Great reaction! ❤
Hell yeah get these swifty views bro. Taylors got something for everyone depending what vibe you like. ❤have fun going down the rabbit hole. Make sure your listen for lyrics, she's a story teller first and foremost.
I'm so glad you reacted to this song. I feel like we can all relate to it and it's a beautiful beautiful showcase of their voices, I love it. Thank you for being respectful♥
Good to see you enjoying exploring Taylor's catalogue, there's so much range. You can look at how her album tracks have exceptionally detailed and considered production, how her live performances can completely transition a song and even it's genre, and can vary from stripped back like this, to full on arena choreographed showpieces, and how her videos are exceptional storytelling and movie quality. So much to examine to understand why she has earned her popularity.
If you enjoyed him (Bon Iver/Justin Vernon) in this and it's your type of music, def check out his self-titled first album and "For Emma, Forever Ago". He has an EP called "Blood Bank" that is a particular fav. "The National" is the band Aaron Dessner (on piano) is part of. Their stuff is similar and also incredible (High Violet and Trouble Will Find Me, great albums!)
Great reaction!! Recommending Long Sessions of: Epiphany and My Tears Ricochet and This Is Me Trying! There are interviews for each song that give a little insight if you’re into that.
And knowing some background about her record label and what happened with her catalog should be included before My Tears Ricochet because it hits deeper when you know the history there.
This was filmed during Covid hence the masks. Her boyfriend at the time helped write this as they like writing sad songs. In all honesty, I think whether she is doing it consciously or not, she is speaking of her relationship with Joe. They were together for 6 year until early last year. I'm sure they were heartbroken, but the relationship was not going to stand the test of forever.
If you wanna hear vocals, I would suggest either I don’t wanna live forever live (preferably from the Eras tour) or Cornelia street live from Paris… both incredible!
Jump in! The rabbit hole is deep, but comfy ✨🧚♀️✨ The Long Pond sessions are great! There are explanation excerpts, prior to each song that describe the head space She, Aaron & Jack were in while making the album. The entire Folklore album is amazing! Folklore was made during the pandemic & she has a sister album (Evermore) both are masterpieces! Taylor has grown up in the public eye, but her music is ever-evolving. She’s one of one ✨🧚♀️✨ I enjoyed both reactions you’ve done thus far. Keep digging. You still have a long road ahead. Enjoy! Subscribed 😎✌️
Love this! Welcome to the Swifties, we love newcomers! Some recommendations based on what you said you like: My tears ricochet long pond studio session (written in reflection of Scott borchetta selling all of her previous masters to scooter Braun who bullied her for years) False god live on SNL Willow from the eras tour Would’ve could’ve should’ve from midnights 3am edition (some people listen to Dear John from Speak Now with this one as they’re both written about John mayor and her experience dating him while she was 19 and he was 30) And of course, the easy fan favorite of all the swifties: All Too Well the 10 minute version the short film
Subscribed for the T Swift content lol. You are very insightful. The album Folklore is the album that really turned me into a fan. If this is your cup of tea, then I’ll recommend a few more from the Folklore Long Pond Sessions. My Tears Ricochet and This Is Me Trying are two of my favorites. I recommend watching the interviews that come before each song as they give great insight into the songs. Keep doing Taylor reactions and your channel will blow up.
@bryandaves1005 Forklore (Long Pond Sessions) was what got me listening to Taylor also. Watching it I think at the time either Netflix or Disney surprised me. I started listening to her different albums and it has been an amazing experience.
This is one of my favorite song of all times from her.. if you love this kind of style the album folklore and evermore are your album.. Midnight is also great a more mature record.. Once you start you can’t stop. She’s very versatile, and has an album for whatever mood you want.
Loved your reaction so much!! Please react to Taylor Swift - The Last Time (Taylor's Version) (Lyric Video) ft. Gary Lightbody, when you have time. I'm sure you'll love it. Thank u!!! 💕💕💕
Great reaction! It’s such a beautiful song that like you said, a lot if most of us can relate to! ❤ Hope you react to some more Taylor, us swifties would love to have you!❤
Justin Vernon is a bit eccentric. He said 'faces are for friends ' Weird because he does concerts. His band is a very popular indie band and he mostly uses his upper register
You got me with the “Aw, it’s over?” At the end. What a thoughtful reaction. If this is your vibe, I highly recommend listening to “This is Me Trying”. The link below has her talking with Jack, a long time producer of hers, about what the song means before they play it.So sadly beautiful and something we can all relate to. ua-cam.com/video/Z1yeJIn12KQ/v-deo.htmlsi=CKN-7Dgp4-g34Ur-
"This is me trying" off The Long pond Sessions and the acoustic versions of "Clean" "New Years Day" and "Long Live" off the Reputation Tour are incredible.
From what you said you like and if you really like this then the entire Long Pond Sessions is for you! A few other suggestions from these sessions are my tears ricochet, this is me trying, invisible string and really every other song from these sessions after that! 😊
@mikew2746 I don't know if you (mike) will see this but, if you do, I would love to hear your thoughts on Exile. Did you watch the video? Or did you avoid it because you saw it was TSwift? Obviously you don't like her, but I'm wondering if you have ever heard her music (aside from overhearing a few of her pop radio hits, which can be hard to avoid). I've been trying to test a theory that the only people who hate Taylor as much as you seem to hate her are people who don't actually know her music (or they hate her for for reasons other than music), so I'm genuinely curious to hear your thoughts so that I can test my theory. I know some people say they simply don't get into her music and that, of course, is fine. Art appreciation is subjective. But I sense that something deeper is going on with you, and that is what has made me curious.
@JenniferDomitrovits-xu9df it's because she came in as an all American clean cut young girl. Got huge off of these fans then turned into a satanic brainwashing dem0n. It's not just her. ItS almost the whole industry.
You’ve found a big rabbit hole to go down. She has so many sides to her, and she’s an amazing vocalist, songwriter, and performer!!
It’s really good isn’t it?
Thank you for sharing this story. So cool!
it was during the pandemic when this was recorded, he was in a different studio than them, that's why he has the scarf.
When Taylor writes a song fitting for a duet, she has a real talent for choosing the right artist.
Welcome to the rabbit hole..... She is a far better singer than most people give her credit for. And she is pretty much the greatest lyricist working today.mm
When Justin Vernon starts singing with his hands you know it’s getting serious 😂
😂
Joe Alwyn wrote the first verse, and was playing piano, singing it. She asked if they could flesh the song out. She then spoke with Jack Antonoff about it being a duet. He suggested Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, which is who she wanted to sing it with but was too nervous to ask him. They sent the song to Justin, he wrote the bridge, recorded it and sent it back.
It was not a producer who owned and sold Taylor's master recordings, it was Scott Borchetta, the head of her former record label, Big Machine Records.

Possibly the best in history, she makes words rhyme that you’d think shouldn’t.
Just a hint: When you watch the My Tear Ricochet video, please watch to the very end of the video. Sometimes people stop the song with a couple seconds left and they don't hear the sigh at the end. If you wanna hear vocals, I would suggest either I don’t wanna live forever live (preferably from the Eras tour) or Cornelia street live from Paris… both incredible!
thank you!
Some recommendations based on what you said you like:
My tears ricochet long pond studio session (written in reflection of Scott borchetta selling all of her previous masters to scooter Braun who bullied her for years)
False god live on SNL
Willow from the eras tour
Would’ve could’ve should’ve from midnights 3am edition (some people listen to Dear John from Speak Now with this one as they’re both written about John mayor and her experience dating him while she was 19 and he was 30)
And of course, the easy fan favorite of all the swifties: All Too Well the 10 minute version the short film
No turning back now, your down the rabbit hole and no way out
😂 it's a good place to be
Subscribed for the T Swift content lol.
I just love this song I'm like you I can just listen to it for hours back to back.
Welcome to the Swiftie club ❤
Such a great reaction! Excited for more Taylor content!
🙏
Enjoyed your reaction. Good work. Keep the Swift reactions coming❤❤❤
She wrote this song
I so enjoyed your reaction... and I'm here for it!
Thank you for listening!! More to come.
Love your genuine reaction!! Hope to have more!! Taylor is a deep well of deep songs! ❤
This is one of my favorite song of all times from her.. if you love this kind of style the album folklore and evermore are your album.. Midnight is also great a more mature record..
Once you start you can’t stop. She’s very versatile, and has an album for whatever mood you want.
You might like "Renegade"... another collaboration between Swift and Justin Vernon
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I’ve found that women are ready to leave well before the man is. Is it just me? If you want to hear her belt one out, listen to “Don’t Blame Me.”
If you want to see her range check out the all too well short film.. it's epic..
Just discovered your channel. Subscribed for more Taylor Swift! Love your reactions.
Thank you so much....more to come!
Justin Vernon is my fave artist. TS is a very close second
I need to check out more Justin!
Welcome! Looking forward to watching you t swift journey!
Loved your reaction so much!! Please react to Taylor Swift - The Last Time (Taylor's Version) (Lyric Video) ft. Gary Lightbody, when you have time. I'm sure you'll love it. Thank u!!! 💕💕💕
God bless 😊
you'll love my tears ricochet, it's about her old record label not a guy
Great reaction! It’s such a beautiful song that like you said, a lot if most of us can relate to! ❤ Hope you react to some more Taylor, us swifties would love to have you!❤
Justin Vernon is a bit eccentric. He said 'faces are for friends ' Weird because he does concerts. His band is a very popular indie band and he mostly uses his upper register
New subscriber here, excited to see your continued Taylor journey! :)
Do “All Too Well”- 10 min version with lyrics. Has over 1 million views. Amazing!❤
it was recorded during covid lockdown
👏🏻 Song w/Kendrick Lamar is the Bad Blood remix (audio for the music video, not the album).

But you should add that Jack Antonoff is also in the band "Bleachers".
Bon Iver is pronounced bone ee-VAIR which is the name of a band; the singer is Justin Vernon
❤ I subscribed.
Thank you!
Swiftie 🙋🏻♀️new sub
Thank you for listening!
❤️
Have you done all to well 10 minute version yet?
yes :)
"This is me trying" off The Long pond Sessions
and the acoustic versions of "Clean" "New Years Day" and "Long Live" off the Reputation Tour are incredible.
From what you said you like and if you really like this then the entire Long Pond Sessions is for you! A few other suggestions from these sessions are my tears ricochet, this is me trying, invisible string and really every other song from these sessions after that! 😊
If you like this song, listen to All Too Well…10 minute short film…
The bandana is about COVID.
Everyone is confused about the bandana like they forgot about the pandemic lmao 🤣
If you like a breakup song then you’ll probably really like ‘You’re losing me’ by Taylor Swift.
All Too Well 10 min version, if you like emotional songs. Longpond Sessions
Pandemic I think.
Unsubscribed for the taylor swift content.
Big Mike!
lol sad
That's ok. I subscribed for the Taylor content. He probably didn't even notice his numbers change.
