Randy! I love the reviews you do. I'm cheap, I like audio, your the perfect reviewer for me. However, I'm Canadian. Not all speakers/gear are available (or affordable) in Canada. I know Canada has some excellent speakers manufacturers. Can you do a top ten/worst to first style video on affordable Canadian made speakers or gear?
A very versatile speaker for a multitude of situations. Thank you for this great review. I just may have to get a pair for height speakers. Great heads-up and good deal. Have a great week ahead, Sir.
I love my Airmotiv A1s. Bought them when the price dropped. They're small enough that they'll sit on top of my JBL L5 towers for ATMOS duty (with room to spare). The terminations for cabling not accepting a banana plug are the only complaint that I have. Super happy with them.
Great vid, Randy. I love the transitional music too. The Emotiva prices are crazy.
Awesome video, Randy! Love the Tudor Black Bay too!
Great review! One small nit to pick, the Polk XT90's are $199/pr, or $99.50 each. Keep up the good work!
Emotiva doesn’t disappoint @ any price range. It’s been awesome to c how how much they accomplished just since covid started!
Edit - In a car audio environment one can increase the loudness of their system by 3db+ just from excellent sound/acoustic dampening/insulation.
I use four OMW3s (White) on my ceiling for Atmos.
Im using these as height speakers in my home theater...very high quality and worth the investment
Looks like a great value especially at the price. Sweet !
Great video as always!
I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a "best receivers per $$$" video like you've done for stereos, amps and subs? Center Speakers would be nice too. I understand it's a bit selfish of a request, because I use a HT receiver instead of an amp.
I literally just called them to ask what the bracket looked like. Awesome timing.
Thank you Randy
Randy, I recently bought a pair of these and dang I'm very, very impressed. I have found running them in the 7000+ mode they produce the best sound for every situation and amp I tested them. Currently, I have them mounted on the ceiling for Atmos duty and the improvement is fantastic! Now that I have all Emotiva in my 5.1.2 I'm a very happy budget minded HT hobbyist.
Thanks for your 700+ vids and advice!!! All the very best, Kevin
How did you mound them on the ceiling? Just with a screw in the keyhole? I'd like to put these on the ceiling as well, but I'm fearful of them sliding off.
@@MarshallZPie Currently, just a long screw into a ceiling joist so I can angle and turn them. The plastic hanger is holding perfect for now. My plans are to design and fabricate four proper sheet metal brackets that will also tilt and swivel. Enjoy your speakers! I sure like mine.
@@welderfixer Actually, I'm gonna go with the Micca Covo S, they have a thread mount, are cheaper and I think they are good enough for my first ceiling speakers. Thanks anyway.
Great vid & review as always Randy, and as always, almost always, I have to pretend I’m not interested in the product so maybe I can retire one day, especially when it comes to emotiva and their prices right now, what a steal if this is something you’re interested in!
Great for any desktop system. 👍👍👍
howdy Randy, about the speaker connectors on these speakers, I see the red/black plugs in the center. they resemble the little plugs in the openings in some other speakers like Pioneer BS22 that had them. i pryed them out and HOLY MOLY, bananas fit right in there. is it possible.....? try it and see.
...hifitommy
sweet vid as always
where did the little finger go though Randy...
The Emotiva lawyers are pulling into the driveway right now, lol. Great video.
You can use pin connectors on the speaker wires
Hey Randy. Just got a pair of these as Emotiva just started shipping them directly from within Europe. I've hung them on the wall but had to put them lower than where it meets the ceiling because they would get out of angle of the MLP too high up. Since there is no way to point them more downwards with the included wall mount bracket I started looking for third party brackets, but I have no idea what to look for when all the A1's have is a keyhole mount. Do you have any tips for what to do to angle them vertically?
If you mount the wall mount bracket further from the wall, you could get the speakers to angle downwards.
I had connectors that looked like these. I unscrewed the tops and i was able to remove the black and red plastic circles so i could use banana plugs. Might these work like that?
That's what I was thinking.
They remind me of the Spica TC-50 from WAY back in the day.
Randy, help! These look amazing, but the power handling is way low. My receiver puts out 135 wpc. Will I fry these things? Is there something out there that won't cost the farm for my Atmos channels?
2:37 - do they require 'putting a little more power through them' even after you flip the Dolby switch?
Is the switch simply an attenuator?
I’m running 5.1 8 ohms klips speakers can I add this for atmos
Another great video, Randy!
Great review as always Randy! Love the suggestive tempting warning at the end about wiring two pairs btw! Lol
Great review. I am planning on getting Emotiva T3 do you think the A1 would pair well and work as atoms reflective? Thanks!!!!
Could I use these will a tx rz50
I have the Emotiva E1s, which are their actual on wall speakers. They're front ported. For some reason they stopped selling these though.
Would these make good "height" speakers for a Yamaha based 9.1 setup even if I just put them on top of my existing towers?
It would only be 7.1 because I don't use the extra 2 channels rear.
That's how I have mine setup sitting on top of my towers. I use the grilles made for upward reflection and have the switch on the speaker set for reflection. They work very well.
@@ComputerGeeks-R-Us Awesome thank you. Do you find they make a musical or movie difference?
I don't recommend using them on top of towers (bouncing the sound off the ceiling). Especially if you have an angled or vaulted ceiling. Having ceiling mounted speakers is best (or possibly wall mounted if you have high ceilings and the angles are correct). Most atmos mixes are pretty terrible. I can count the "good mixes" with one or two hands. Keep your expectations reasonable.
Hi
Great Video I have a question on those Dolby Atmos speakers
I just want to know if you would think this set up would blow away a Top notch Full system sound bar with surrounds and dual. Subs. So that set up is $4200
So soundbar in front dual subs left and right front,
And 2 surround back
My chair is dead center my room is spaced perfectly for a long square shape for theatre set up
15’ long 12’ wide 8’ high
Can't get them in the UK that sucks 😔
Bought the b1+ on your advice and no regrets 😀👍
Longhorn in Lubbhick, TX land of flat, red, flying dirt here- like Mars but with O2. Thanks for the heads up on the Emotiva sale. B2+ purchased for my desktop. I've a Douk ST-01. Going to need a very small form factor amp to drive these SOBs to sit on my desk. Recommendations? Y'all?
Hi so my continue question for my Room set up Sound bar system vs Emotiva /Klispch Dolby Atmos system
Front 3 heights L C R
L Medium speaker Medium C and Medium R
Di or Bi Pole Speaker L & R of my chair ear level
Rear behind me
Heights L C R
Left side Front wall floor Klispch 16” subwoofer
Receiver 11.1 Emotiva to push all of this setup
So my question is
What set up would you go with for my Theater room
Both set up are around $4200 my budget is $5k
One set up is the Arc full soundbar system
And
2nd is what I just mentioned
Am try to decide which one would sound Awesome!
Please help me decide Thanks
A1’s good for home theater rear channels and nothing else 😂
Banana plug to speaker wire adapter. Converts a banana plug into a gold solid or braided tip.- Banana Plug to 4mm Female Banana Jack/Speaker Wire -
I run 2 6 by 9 speakers connected together to make 8 ohms, For my new loft i'm building I love them.
Since there was a mention of these speakers needing "power" - should we assume that they are Not suitable for a computer desktop?
Emotiva speakers are terrific value propositions. I have B1+ and T1 and they were cheap and excellent!
A few people I know who own the new products from Emotiva aren’t very happy with them. I ended up buying an Emotiva BasX-A2 for dirt cheap. They are also selling their T3+ and C2+ for like 60% off. I’m looking for bookshelves speakers. Otherwise, I would have consider buying them.
I don’t know the whole story but at these prices I’d buy anyway, you can always return stuff, I just can’t buy anything now, trying real hard not to at least, want it but don’t really really want it
Why aren't they happy with it? I have been happy w mine. Especially the 12" flex subwoofer (dual radiator) for $250. Great subwoofer for my 2.1 setup in my large living room.
These would work for me because my sub is max 80 db.
A better comparison would be the Klipsch RP-500SA Dolby Atmos Surround Sound Speakers. Better deal if you ask me.
do you have any insight whether or not the B1+ will ever come back in stock? I was leaning towards those and a sub for my entry into hifi
from a online enthusiast forum, someone posted as a email response from emotiva, the lower prices are to get rid of the current inventory, no restock as they are coming out with new speakers at the end of the year.
Why are your Amazon Music playlists no longer available? I was going to try out the test tracks today!
I have A1s , i thought they were bad for Atmos, then again most reflecting atmos speakers wont work due to the room. The A1s are great for rear surrounds in my 7.2.4 set up.
Dolby 'enabled' (reflective) is a joke. Set up real Dolby Atmos with overhead speakers.
@@xavdemanI got disappointed mounting them on ceiling they have quite poor directivity
Good morning,
Thanks again for this video.
I am a little lost in your analysis and particularly at the end in your conclusion. you say that these speakers are the most versatile but not necessarily better than others.
If we compare the sony ss sce, polk x90 and these Emotiva atmos. The price of Sony is much more interesting, right? But what about the sound quality? The Sony are very versatile (on a speaker, wall, furniture and only 120 dollars)
Afterwards, why not take the Sony SS Sc5 or the Polk Signature Elite E15 (even smaller than the Sony SSSC5)? Of course, they don't have the Atmos shape but it is entirely possible to place them on a speaker, on a wall and certainly more bass.
What do you think?
Flex pin banana plugs will fix your problems.
Hi Randy,
I have a sub, and I need a pair of speakers for my 2.1 TV system.
The Emotiva A1 is a good choice for a Loxjie A30?
The Loxjie A30 have enough power for this speaker?
I bought the Sony height speakers several years ago for $99. The price has doubled! I use them high up on my front wall over my front towers, but I have a hard time hearing the Atmos sound from the movies I watch. They seem to get drowned out by my towers. Wonder if these Emotiva's would be better? I've always heard that the upward firing, bouncing off the ceiling method doesn't work that well either. Maybe it would be better to mount my Atmos speakers high up on the side walls?
Did you check the levels with a SPL meter? (Even your phone w an app like Audio Tools) or Audessey tool? Sounds like you need to adjust the levels (volume) on each speaker. The bounce off the ceiling atmos speakers don't work well. Don't bother getting the A1s if that's your plan. Atmos height speakers should be above your head (at 20-30 degree angles) , ceiling mounted, pointed towards main listening position. Most movies don't have good atmos tracks (very little height channel signal), so I would go w inexpensive speakers. I use some free to me satellite cube speakers , w 150hz cutoff. Not ideal but sound good enough for the price. It's really about calibrating your system with Audessey or Dirac or even REW. I have Emotiva for my 7 speaker surround bed layer and cheapo satellite cube speakers for my 4 height channels . If you do go for atmos get 4 height speakers. 2 isn't worth it. Or just stick w a 5 or 7 speaker surround. Denon x3700h is great, the newer x3800h model can handle 4subwoofers, which is amazing. Do your research, have fun
@@bigdreams5554 Thanks for the reply. I did order the A1's. I think I might try them on the side walls to better separate them from my main front towers. I have the Sony speakers near the ceiling on the front wall and set all the way up to 10 in my Yamaha receiver settings! My Yamaha (RX-V685) only allows for one pair of height/Atmos speakers. So I might try the A1's high up on the side walls and use the Sony's in a bedroom setup as Atmos speakers on the side walls. But I think you are right. This whole Atmos thing is kind of like snake oil! Probably just another way to get us to buy more stuff. What's next? Speakers in the floor?! We've probably reached the point of way oversaturating the sound. It has become a big garbled mess! Sometimes I think the old standard 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS from DVDs sounds the best! You get better separation of the object based sound signal. But here I am having purchased yet another pair of speakers to try and make Atmos work! Cheap Audio guy suckered me into it! And he's probably getting paid by these companies to help push their products! Oh well. We always want to have the latest and greatest, even though it is all likely just snake oil!
He's kind of look like the in-wall monoprice ribbon speakers. Have you checked any of those out?
I'M DOING IT!
I'll worry about the consequences later.
@SterlingQuade 1st if me buying something is any of your concern then you have a bigger issue. 2nd, if you watched the video, you would have known what I was referring to.
Thanks for your input.
For atmos
Randy, the fact that I own these is your fault 😂 Thanks again for the recommendation!
do you love them?
@@cheapaudioman Yes, surprisingly so. Having owned other types, they blew me away for accurate they are.
It would have need nice if it were made clear that these are surround/wall speakers in the title or thumbnail. I thought they were standard bookshelf speakers, but these can't be used that way.
sure they can
You can use it for everything but a speaker.
Don't need a pair of speakers pointed at the heavens. Just need a good pair of stereo speakers. But thanks for all your reviews.
I love Emotiva, what a neat speaker! Enter me to win!!!!!
I was depressed Saturday afternoon... GBR
I stopped watching when sims fumbled in the second quarter. knew it was going to go south
I see a ribbon tweeter and a kevlar cone and i already know its not a speaker for me. ribbon tweeters are too directional so very difficult to calibrate with sonarworks. and i have yet to hear kevlar cones which sound transparent. i'd even argue that kevlar cones are the second worst materials for midrange with soft plastic cones are the worst of the bunch.
Dolby Atmyss lol
I asked in the Roku forums and nobody really knows. I'm using a Roku to TV, digital out from TV to a Denon AVR4802R THX receiver. I'm using the DAC in the Denon. Would it sound better if I got a 200$ DAC? I would think maybe it would sound better if I was using a better source like a blu ray player. I don't think Roku is going to use high bit rate. Love what you're doing. Maybe instead of always talking about new speakers talk about good speakers that you've heard in the past and of course what you're using now...
you'd have to optical out of the tv into the dac and then the dac into the receiver to utilize it with a Roku. honestly, I'd just stick with your receiver. You may hear a bit of a difference. You could always buy something and give it a try and see if you like it. if you don't, send it back
@@cheapaudioman Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. In the forum reply I got, try it then you'll know. What? I can't be the only person wondering if it would be better. I have a feeling I won't notice much a difference. I just got this used Denon receiver. My Onkyo was running HOT and would only power two channels. So far I'm really liking the new receiver. I'm disabled and have to save what little money I have. I did pick up some used NHT speakers that I love. I couldn't believe the wife let me put these large speakers in the TV room.
Bong and a beer
Live in Australia but thanks
I never want speakers that are slanted up. Don't know if that's rational.
too bad it's almost impossible to find emotiva speakers in EU
Good bye mate. I follow you here and it saddens me I have to subscribe on Instagram in order to reap any benefits. One might think being brainwashed by one media platform might be enough. What's next ? Only fans ???
I’m pretty sure he’s said, in every video, that u don’t have to follow him on instagram to be eligible…
I’ll admit to being a CAM super fan so maybe I missed the part where he’s trying to do anything other than fun a fantastic UA-cam channel, when was the brainwashing session or the part where he’s let anything go to his head?
He makes a point to say in every video you don't need to follow him on Instagram in order to be eligible. I don't have an account and I still submitted my entry without issue.
LOL... they are good .... but not for any situation !!! Atmos and rear speakers ... that’s IT !!!
