    My Jamo C93II did not sound good on some tracks or poor recordings when new but after several weeks they sounded great. I love them now. They warm up and the smile EQ goes away a bit also. The Sony`s did nothing for me. I sent them to a guest room as basic tv speakers.

    I've owned both the Jamo's and the Sony's. I still have the Sony's and after 3 weeks the Jamo's were sent back. I think describing the mid-range as lean is an understatement I found it to be completely lacking. I couldn't use depth and describing these because without the meat and potatoes of a speaker that being the mids it just sounds anemic. It's really too bad because the highs on it are outstanding. The Sony's on the other hand can be had for as little as $80 on sale and are a more well-rounded speaker. And with the low price and the mods that can be done to really make it a very good speaker which in my opinion makes it better than the Jamo. I honestly don't know why anyone would spend money on a speaker that is purposely built with a good portion of reproduction just missing. Reminds me of the old story of The Emperor's New Clothes

    I really wanted to like the Jamos. Tried them in my system and liked their overall sound. Mids were more matter of fact, analytical than fluid but still nice enough for the price. In black, they were nothing special looking but didn't take up much space. as to resolution and detail, for the price you won't find anything that will outright beat them, these resolve better than many speakers at double the price.
    The issue I had and a big one, and something I never had with any other speaker was these somehow grated on me, not even so much as aurally but something about them got on my nerves to the point that around 20 minutes in I found them no longer enjoyable to listen to.
    It could be the extreme U shape curve where the highs shoot up considerably and may grate on one's nerves. As I stated, it was more a feeling than hearing something unpleasant. Very strange.
    If you are not experiencing that, and enjoy the sound, you got an excellent value in the speakers for the discounted price. If on the other hand you experienced more or less what I described, or if these are just to bright, then regardless of price, discount, etc., they will not be good to listen to.
    Easier with movies than music where I had most of the problem occur.
    As a sidenote, the smaller 91ii is not just a smaller sounding similar sound to the 93ii, that speaker is just too small and sounds anemic, bland, whose performance isn't even commensurate with an under $200 speaker. Only if you need rear speakers in a 4/5 channel setup, etc. They don't even perform well nearfield IMO.

    Hello, I'm just starting to learn about this topic and I began with a pair of Edifier r1280 speakers. I find that type of sound unpleasant, as if it's coming from a completely closed box, with the vocals in the background and little detail in the highs. I'm looking for something that allows me to enjoy Metal music and when watching series, I want the vocals to be more upfront and clearer. Among the options in the video, which one would be the best for me? I'm sorry if my question is silly, but my English isn't good, and I would like to confirm if the Jamo speakers are the right model for me. Thank you.

I don't think I paid much more than $100 for the pair, and they were as low as $120 a couple of weeks ago, but now everyone is selling them for almost $200 a pair. I won't say anything bad about them since my room is small and I've never had enough space to give them a real listen. But my jamos sing and I heard things I have never heard from a speaker. Ever. Budgetwise they are $118 pair now that's not bad and worth that or wait them out they go on sale when amazon needs room in the warehouse like I say I paid $73 and who knows but this economy you may never see them again

    Genuine question for you, with no hate intended at all...with reviewers like Erin's Audio Corner and AudioScienceReview being able to objectively review these speakers with their Klippel devices, what is the purpose of a purely subjective review like this? We have no idea how much of your opinion is biased by your own tastes, hearing, and room acoustics.

    • @MattCoykendall1
      @MattCoykendall1  2 роки тому +5

      Hey KB, no worries on the question. My honest answer is measurements are not the end all be all, they are a really great guide and may be able to help identify what types of speakers you prefer but they are not everything when it comes to actually hearing the speakers. One great application for subjective listening is say I like speaker A because of its warm tone and to go even further I really like it with a particular genre of music, then I compare it to speaker B and say its none of these things. My viewer who could be you may have these same listening preferences and be led to speakers that match their preference, we can find commonalities in things we like. I completely appreciate everything Erins Audio Corner does, I'm a viewer myself, I enjoy the measurements as well as the subjective side of audio. Thanks for the question.
