Don't forget the National HDT RV Haulers Rally is happening in Hutchinson KS Oct 5 - 12. Great information about HDT's and meet lots of HDT friends. It is truly the best Rally to attend if you are trying to make the decision to go bigger!
Todd, Thanks so much for doing this interview with us! I was hesitant as you know, but you made us feel at ease. I hope this helps some body that is starting to investigate this type of move. Thanks again Brother for all of your, and Sheila's Hard work, and hospitality.
Todd, they are a very nice couple and I believe there will be more folk’s doing these types of trucks as the Rv’s are getting heavier. IMHO. This was a very interesting video!
Drove a big truck for 40 years.Retired 5 years ago.Pulled too many trailers into and out of tight spots.Getting out was harder. My next camper is a pickup camper on my Frontier.Smaller the better.
Would love to have more info on Scott's truck, like wheel base/ overall length (especially since it is a "daily driver") to compare with my F450 I am currently using to tow my 44' Toyhauler. Also would have been nice to see the cab/sleeper. It looks like the sleeper was not as high as others I have seen. Please do other HDT videos!
@@markratliff7991 Mark, look up The 2020 Peterbilt 579 Ultraloft. It is an 80" sleeper full height, with 2 bunks. I can stand up directly from a sitting position in the drivers seat, without hitting my head, and the ceiling slopes up from there. Tons of room in this rig.
Todd, encouragingly and respectfully...😅....you really need to let people tell their story without trying to be the interviewer and the main character at the same time. I love watching your channel but if your interviewing or asking others their story or opinion, maybe let them tell it without constant interruptions. Just meant to be constructive criticism. Keep on truckin!
When you look at the price of the truck plus the conversion it is not that unreasonable when you consider that JD of Big Truck Big RV just dropped $103 thousand for an "of the lot" 2024 Ford F450 to pull his 5th wheel. And he will add a few thousand more with upcoming modifications.
Interesting video. I use to organize and lead 30 to 40 jeep tours per year for over 450 families in Colorado. Full time RV Nomad est January 2019. 45 ft triple axle toy hauler. I seek options for carrying my modified 4 door jeep cherokee on a 7.5 lift with 35s. Suggestions? With hdt it seems like i may flirt with 75 to 80ft. Per this video i should have an Hdt budget purchase $50,000 to $75,000 plus $35,000 ish for bed and hitch conversion plus $15,000 paint. Or $125,000 to $130,000 overall hdt mod budget.... Correct?
That would be a fair budget. The HDT purchase you could find something fairly reasonable at $45 to $50k range. Also stay with a sleeper so you can do simple modifications to then register as an RV and save money.

Scott. I saw someone mention New York. You by any chance grow up there in Highland?
Would like to have seen more details. Interesting setup.
Another awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
It was so nice chatting with you guys about these truck in NY - Jim
Great show, but, I see you have Oakley sunglasses, I think, what is the model you are wearing, thanks

Saw you guys on the interstate today in New Hampshire !! Hollered on the cb radio to you , great looking rig!!
Heard you load and clear. You are the first person to do that since we hit the road! Thank you
Love me some trucks!!!
Fyi, the Peterbilt is a two axle and your HDT is a three axle because you count the steering axle. 😊

That’s some damn good advice lol I didn’t notice it too much but once you mentioned it

Hi from the Bimber's
What is a hdt
Heavy Duty Truck.
Looking for any advise on how to get your truck registered as a R V. Buying in Kentucky and they will not allow you to switch to a RV. Thx
We have a video coming on that topic. In Kansas we found details under property tax assessment.
It's too bad American HDT's don't have the feature for lifting the rear wheels when unladen. The Scanias from Sweden do.
Wondering Warner’s are the best UA-cam tv site bar none!

My b&w companion is 30k
Rated to tow 30,000. But can it or your truck handle almost 4 tons of pin weight?
@ScottSchoonover rated for 30k but no I do not own a hdt...but I thought in your comment you said only 16k
