Thank you very much for this video. We eat a lot of vegetables also as a soup. I will love to see more videos with you cooking french food. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your family.
My 🇫🇷belle-mère always started dinner with what she called “La bonne soupe.” It was exactly what you just posted, perhaps a bit different depending upon what she had on hand. She had lived through the dreadful German occupation of France in Paris & said her love of turnips occurred because the Germans stole all of the potatoes, so the French people were left with turnips & rutabagas, which the Germans disliked. She was from Auvergne & knew how to make soup from anything available. It was amazingly delicious & I make soup like that to this day. In fact, it was how I got vegetables into my son when he was small because blended soups weren’t so obviously full of veggies.
So delicious looking. I grew up on a farm where we grew all our own vegetables, and our soups were always chunky. Anything creamed in a blender would have been heavenly, but we had no blender. Now I see every one creaming their soups, and it looks so good. And the nutrition cannot be beat! Am so hungry watching this video. And, oh yes, we add chunky style corn and often tomatoes. Thanks for sharing this recipe with special tips.
I adore leeks too, especially leek soup. For soups, I add garlic and more herbs, not only for more flavor but for more nutrients and healthful compounds, too. A vegetable soup can be a nutrient powerhouse.
This soup looks delicious, Marie-Anne! 🧡 My vegetable soup is never the same twice. It's onion, carrot, celery, and whatever else I have that needs to be used -- 'Clean out the Fridge Soup'! Sometimes I blend it, sometimes I don't, but it's always good. Thanks for showing us how you do yours, and YES I'd love to see your take on French Onion soup, too!
The soup looks DELICIOUS. That's a gorgeous color green cabbage. Although blended soups are so delicious, I also like the chunky vegetable soups where you taste each vegetable. There's a company in the U.S. that sells the "ugly and misshapen" vegetables and fruits that taste great but nobody wants because of how they look. It's such a great idea. French Onion Soup! YUM.
Tnx for soup inspiration Marie- Anne. Discovered some sad looking mushrooms in my fridge today. They became the stars in a quick mushroom soup- starting with sautéed onions, adding a tbs of flour and bouillon. A delight on a wintry Swedish Thursday🌟 Looking forward to your leek tarte recipe.
Oh, coco and peanut! 😍 I love broccoli in the soup too. Mushrooms give the soup a lovely umami flavour. All soup recipes are very welcome Marie-Anne! 🙏 I've just returned from France a few days ago, have been in Bretagne and Normandy. I've fallen in love with those areas of France and love their gastronomy. Have a wonderful weekend! Saludos desde España! S.
oh yes please for French onion soup. I love soup, Id have it most days in winter (and then salad for lunch) as its so versatile and adaptable. I cant imagine a soup without my beloved leeks. Generally I like things cut small, I dont like a super heated long dangler of a leek hanging down my chin :) the one currently in the pot has the usual base of leek, onion, carrot, celery, small potato, with smidgen of chilli and then it has cannellini beans, butternut pumpkin and finely chopped cavolo nero and parsley - it all depends on what I have available and often it gets served with a nice dollop of greek yoghurt. Chopped fennel bulb is also lovely as are most pulses. I could never get bored of a good vegetable soup
Thank you for this, love this channel and so glad for the posts lately! Your house is lovely and nice to know how French truly eat. Never have had many blended soups other than split pea or butternut squash, need to try this. Merry Christmas 🎄 ❤
I make a lot of soup and have recently subscribed to a wonky veg box delivery called odd box, and it is full of surplus and too wonky for the supermarkets , I can swap fruit and vegetables I don't like but that doesn't happen often! And I have enough small apples to make 2 tartes Tatin tomorrow fior Sunday Lunch and beyond , perfect when I'm concentrating on the Christmas feast! Would love to see the leek tarte, it sounds delicious too!

Glad to hear you have your chickens. Maybe we could have a peak someday?❤
Please give a French onion soup recipe!
I rinse my produce in apple cider vinegar. I would cook everything with either veggie or chicken broth instead of water.
Turmeric works well to in soup…add to the veg
