    Nice conversion. It might be expensive at first but I think in the long run it will be a lot cheaper to run and maintain.
    Looking forward to the next video.

    Nice looking conversion! Yeah, switch over to lithium. I'm using a pair of 48V modules from a Chevy Volt. They give me about 3.6kWh of usable energy. Mowing I get about an hour run time and they all fit under the hood. I need to get a video uploaded.
    Anyway, nice job...very clean!

      That's cool. How long to charge?

    • @billbayer5526
      @billbayer5526 6 років тому +1

      As with any electric vehicle, it all depends. I have a 25amp charger. 25amps at 48V 1.2kWh, so depending on how long I ran it, anywhere from 5 minutes to 3-4hr. I also have a 6amp charger which is 3x slower.
      So now that you've done a mower, you need to move on to a car or truck conversion!!

    Hi can I use part of your video to my compilation homemade inventions ?

    Awesome project Chuck. Thank you for sharing. Electric lawn mowers is going to be a HUGE market once the general public catches on. When your done tweaking your design, please make more video's. Please show the drive train how the motor direct replaces the engine. I suggest throttling down that fan, it's too loud.

    Very neat conversion I made one using 3 separate small motors about 17 yrs ago, still using it daily almost no problems or maintenance, change lead acid deep cycle batteries about every 7-8yrs, cut 2 acres on 50cent charge, tremendous pulling traction pull 2000lb trailer with ease, also push a plow blade for soil and snow, see my video electrictractor.net

      What all is included in your Conversion kit?

    • @ElectricTractor
      @ElectricTractor 4 роки тому

      @@N2Otorious KIT CONTENTS
      The kit contains:- Plans, wiring diagrams, instructions, numbered photos and most of the difficult to get parts such as:- electric transaxle with motor and electric brake, 2 cutter motors with mounting flange, electronic motor controller, control relays, digital amp/volt meter, circuit breakers, and other parts. some small metal brackets may have to be made depending on your tractor model, a few short lengths of wire, 2 push mower universal blade adaptors, batteries and charger not included, every DIY conversion is different and some people have some common parts lying around the garage, If I included every easy to get part in the kit the kit price would be much higher,
      Banggood.com sell a smart 24v battery charger $29.99 , some used wheel chair battery chargers are available on Ebay cheap or used truck battery chargers can be used,
      The golf cart batteries are available everywhere at the same price I would pay and the shipping costs you would pay would make them more expensive than you buying them locally, you can get good used golf cart batteries for about $30 ea if you wish from golf cart repair shops if your lawn is not too large, if you have less than 1 acre grass you could use 2 x 12v deep cycle batteries instead of the 4 x 6v golfcart batteries, ElectricLawnTractor.com

    Do you have the same power output? I understand electric motors are much higher in torque. What hp did you start with and do you feel like you have more or less power or cutting ability?

    Any chance you could send a link to the electric motor used to move the lawnmower? I'm looking to do a project but need a powerful motor lol

    With all the Parts + Labor + Time + Coffee.... Might as well stick with Gas or even Propane! OMG, the Motor alone is like $600.00+ :(((

      @chuckgreen355  6 років тому

      Jordan Bronson right this is not the cheap and or ez way to go , but if you like tinkering with things (as I do) this can be a fun project

      +chuck green - You did a GREAT JOB with the " Neatness / Design " and I can see you put in a lot of time for sure. But nah.... I don't think I ill be converting mine anytime soon, LOL. Although I am thinking converting to " Propane " due to Cost + Labor + Time, etc.... I am only looking at converting because of the " Exhaust Gases ". I hate the smell of the Gas Fumes.... That is why it leads me to your video.

      +chuck green - I have been watching a Video from this guy, link below. I also read on the " LOW PRESSURE REGULATOR 039-122 " as well. Surprisingly, it's able to supply the Gas / Propane to 50HP Engine without a problem. So I might be getting one for my Lawn Mower Conversion. Here is the detailed Video of it.... He used it in a Generator: ua-cam.com/video/nO839Sayci0/v-deo.html

    Nice job! Packs are huge!
    I am looking to do the same on my old lawn tractor: motor's leaking oil and pretty much beaten up...
    how did you measure hp needed on the motor (you take the gas engine hp and take same?) ?
    how much it ends up costing (controller, motor, battery, etc.) ?

    • @chuckgreen355
      @chuckgreen355  6 років тому +1

      the hp of the electric motor is not a good translation( from gas to electric) , its going to be much less then the gas engine, the one i got the me1004 works out to have only 12 hp ,the gas engine had 24 hp. but the me1004 can put out 218 lb.ft of torque at 3100 rpms ,which is alot more then the gas motor. so look for torque and rpm.

    • @chuckgreen355
      @chuckgreen355  6 років тому +2

      cost was around 600 for motor and controller (new) i got the bats for free from a salvage yard( they had no idea what they had) so i jumped on um lol, all the other stuff cables , ends, 200-300 bucks , its not going to be the cheap ,i did it just because i like building stuff :o)

    What about noise? Is it louder than the old gas engine you replaced? Sounds loud on the video.
