The Death Traverse // Climbing The Wedge, Sedona

  • The lonely sandstone summit stood patiently for years without a visitor. There is a reason this mountain top sees few visitors. The summit is guarded by the intimidating death ledge that turns around the very few that can even find it. The wait is over as the backcountry duo gets out to make an attempt to summit and claim "The Wedge".

I now live close to Sedona. The place is really cool to hike and bike. Even when it is busy, there are so many trails, you can find something that isn't crowded.

Especially if you go off trail lol I've never had a problem avoiding people. You just have to work for it a little bit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with "off foots"! I"ve never heard anyone else mention that. But I'm curious, your right handed no? Most people are. But you made it sound like having your right foot on the exposure side was the "off foot" way to traverse. I'm the exact opposite. I like having my right foot (my foot corresponding to my dominate hand) on the dangerous side. I find it harder going the other way.

Wow! So many nopes in the first 10 seconds! Can't wait to see how many more there are!!
Edit: Halfway through and I've already cussed you twice, once to keep that drone away from Michael and the second time to put your damn camera away! Bunch of nopes so far.
Final edit: my hands are sweaty and the back of my knees are full of pressure. Oh! And I found the rest of the nopes in the second half of the video!
I appreciate very much you sharing this hike! I subscribed; but I'm not gonna be able to watch you before bed. I feel like I have to go run a mile to get rid of all the heebie jeebies. LOL
    Thanks guys!

I'm surprised there hasn't been a fire to clean up all the dead undergrowth. It's a foot thick!

    Incredibile!

Having watched the Mediocre Amateurs channel for years now, I thought I had pretty much seen all the 'intimidating' situations that one would actually have the balls to endure, but this my friend was almost too much to watch. Having said that, I applaud your effort and encourage you to do a collaboration with Danny (Mr. Mediocre), you guys seem to have a lot in common !

It’s the broken bits of rock on the ledge that would turn me back the way I came

I've done a fair bit of similarly sized ledges, but never with that much loose rock. I would be sweeping it all down before stepping on it, for sure!

Spectacular terrain . When they traversed the ledge the first time , I skipped ahead on the video ; couldn't watch . I watched the second traverse and regretted it . Hopefully , they don't tempt fate again .
