The part about Silver (your rival in GSC/HGSS) being Giovanni's son was actually a huge plot point of the Pokemon Adventures Manga, (also known as PokeSpe), during the GSC arc, where we also get more on the female trainer Blue (they called her Green in the english though). I highly recommend reading the PokeSpe manga if you can from the start.
They didn’t think of the idea till after the release. Same for the giratina event. All of which were epic and I’m so grateful I got the chance to get them in GameStop when this was a thing
I love these little hidden moments that were exclusive to certain events. Unfortunately, I never got to play them. But, I will say that Pokémon Adventures makes moments like Giovanni and his relationship with his son, Silver, even more heartbreaking, as the manga delves deeper into both of the characters pasts and motives, ultimately how Giovanni is much more complex, even as an antagonist in the manga, he has some bittersweet moments as well. I recommend checking out Pokémon Adventures, it really delves into the characters more than the games.

If they also connected johto with hoenn then hgss would have been the best game
This connect directly with ultra sun and moon. That final sound is a wormhole
I absolutely loved 🥰 soulsilver definitely one of my favorite ds pokemon games 😁 had such great music and still does as I heard that background music 🎶 and was instantly brought back to my childhood 😅
Thats why the rival hates Team Rocket so god damn much. I swear every time he talks about "weaklings" he mentions Team Rocket. Mind blown!!
I LOVE the added canon of why he ended up not coming back. Just 👌👌👌
Giovanni was really like “Maybe I was too hasty giving everything up after losing to 1 kid” before getting beaten by another unrelated kid
I remember getting this event Celebi when I was a kid . Seeing Giovanni shook me back then .
I miss the days when Pokémon Company put effort into their games
It’s still so crazy to me how big of a game HGSS are and there’s still even more with these events!
A dark fact is that when you beat him a crash sound is played when he goes outside the cave this implies that he 'self harmed'
This feels like the perfect postgame. Like imagine that after defeating the League and Kanto gyms you get to encounter Celebi that triggers this event, then after defeating Giovanni you get told by an NPC where Red is or something
HG/SS goats of Pokémon games! So many cool events and things to do in the game.
Even the arceus event
I love this event, it really just feels like a genuine part of the postgame.
But I hate that it was an event of one of the first 5 gens. Meaning that the access to it was really limited, and nowadays there's no way at all to trigger it other than hacking the game or doing other exploits.
Does anyone remember the epic battles after the elite four in ultra sun and moon with team Rainbow Rocket? You get to fight almost every single evil team leader including Giovanni! Definitely one of my favorite moments in pokemon games. 🙂
Damn that is sooo dope and I had no idea. In fact I always wondered what the shrines importance was. Thanks! Definitely missed out not getting to play this part.
Small stuff like this matters in making Pokemon games good.
I got an event celebi it was my first Pokémon as a child this brought back so many memories… thank you
I just recently got a event celebi, so after like a decade I could enjoy a new plot in my favorite childhood game. It was awesome.
Same with Sinjoh Ruins.
Finally got to do this after 13 years via a rom hack last year. These story events were tighter than any dlc that’s ever been released
Once he walks out the cave the game makes a splash sound implying Giovani jumped into the water fall
I remember this event when I was younger it was an amazing experience
giovanni actually throws himself over the waterfall just outside & it can be heard faintly in the background audio
Gio: "I must go... My people ne-"
Player: "Hey lets battle! Go Pikachu!"
*Battle music starts playing*
I love how gamefreak/nintendo makes these cool events and locks them behind the hardest to get and time gated event pokemon
This is actually the only pokemon event I was ever able to do as a kid
We need more story lines like this!
Thats why old game pokemon better then now,.. much more rare/unique story, legendary pokemon so rare and it tells thats a really legendary pokemon not like now
