- If you didn't get the chance to listen to the full Brandon Roy interview, here is a short clip in which he talks about his favorite memory with Kobe Bryant.
This guy would have been a hall of famer had he not gotten hurt. Brandon Roy was fo real!
Before Lillard was the man in Portland it was Roy. Man he was great definitely had the potential to be a hall of famer before his injury.
Kobe Tribute video I made guys! Lmk what do you think!
ua-cam.com/video/LTPV7zrvo_U/v-deo.html
would have been a unanimous first ballot HOFer and top 20 player all time had he not been "really" injured. Reality is that he was always a little injured. Bad knees since college. Roy jumped higher at 13 years old than at 23 years old. He was just so incredible that even with the bad knees he was still better than everyone he played against other than Kobe.
FACTS!
I started watching him play since his high school days. He could have been great
Kobe still feels alive, that's how much of an impact he has had on all of us
Brandon Roy visited my little brother at Dornbechers when he had Leukemia. My brother is good now a decade later! Roy was super cool, took photos, talked with my family. Good guy.
Wow, I’m glad your brother is good now! Brandon Roy sounds incredible. Not many celebrities like that.
not many celebs would do that, huge respect to brandon roy and happy to hear your brother recovered from his disease. God bless brother.
Kobe was the last of his kind. He took rivalries to another level. Always went hard going against the top guys wade, bron, tmac, Iverson, vince, melo, broy and the list goes on. He was willing to play through injuries just to play against these guys. Nowadays players will rest when they're tired or don't feel like playing.
Facts the real ones died with Kob, Garnett, and Duncan
You would of thought that the players who looked up to him would of took his mentality. I looked up to Kobe since 1st grade and I never missed a game or anything no matter what all the way till college ball.
He took the rivalries as serious as a heart attack. He also had deep appreciation and love for his rivals for their commitment that drove him to greatness
Ron Artest and Kobe Bryant both at times have said Roy was the toughest player to guard. In 2010, Kobe was asked who was the toughest player to guard and he said: "Roy, 365, 7 days a week, Roy has no weaknesses in his game"
Did everyone forget about Giannis??
B Roy was the real deal.He was in awe of Kobe but im not sure Brandon knew how highly Kobe thought of him.Kobe always complemented his game

He say he asked Kobe “So how’s you and MJ relationship?!” 🤣🤣 Definitely one of the questions I would’ve asked lmao RIP the GOAT 🙌🏽🐐 B. Roy seem cool, he was one of my favorites to watch back then 💯
That bear hug greeting from Kobe was the coolest part. I appreciate these stories that show the side of Kobe many Laker fans know all too well.
Players while playing were fans of MJ and Kobe. Star struck by their greatness. That’s how GOOD they were. No1 and no 2
Broy and Kobe definitely were players I tuned in to see ball. Two great ballers ⛹️
Brandon Roy's buzzer beater against the houston rockets is still my favorite shot of all time
He was a beast in his prime , Kobe even knew Broy could play 🏀 #RipKobe
He had the potential to be a hall of famer it was the injury that did it
Third best sg behind Wade
B-Roy is a class act. RIP Mamba
I remember reading about Kobe Bryant in school, when we had to rent books for the week.
I'd always do the picture books, seeing Kobe and Shaq be the top dogs during their reign, crazy realizing we actually lived through their era.
I always wanted to meet Kobe and pick his brain, luckily my sister took me to a game back in 2011, and he was just as good.
Sad I'll never get to shake his hand.
*I hope Trail Blazers* retire number 7, Brandon Roy thank you so much for making positive memories for me growing up!!

So nice seeing Brandon Roy. I’ll go a step further and say this guy is in the top 10 players most likely to be in the top 75 players if he doesn’t get hurt.
Top 5 honestly. Him and D Rose.
That's why Kobe is the Goat, Love B Roy!! Even with the Injuries still a Hall of Fame player in my book and for him to share this Amazing story and How meeting him impacted him. Proves that Kobe been the Goat b4 it was a Debate ❤️🙏🏽 #24foreva
Damn Brandon is nice guy
Cool as hell to see a dude who had battles with Kobe didnt even know what he wanted to say to him at first
RIP CITY loves you B Roy! Thanks for all the amazing memories ❤️
For sure. He gave us great memories.
Legendary player.
Dam this dude NBA career was a blurr but everything he did was smooth and skillful
Whole time I’m listening to B. Roy, I’m looking at MPJ’s haircut thinking, who is his barber?! His edge up is crispy! 💯. That’s a great Kobe story though. I really wish he didn’t injured so much. B.Roy was fun to watch.
Brandon Roy was a beast back then 3rd best sg during that time behind wade and Kobe
Two of my favorite players of all time, and to hear that B-Roy was still in fan mode goes to show how much he admired Kobe for his dedication. S/O to the legend B-Roy, R.I.P. Mamba 🙏🏾
B Roy was a great player. It’s really a shame he got injured
Same with Grant Hill so much talent cut short due to injuries
We need Brandon on the Knuckheads podcast!!
B-Roy is so underrated
I know someone else caught that slip up from B-Roy at 2:42, he was about to say "No Ho..." LMAOOOO
BRoy was the TRUTH!!!!! This mans game was sooo smooth and it made it look easy!
If this is “Curious Mike” I ❤❤❤ IT! For a young guy trying to be a better player AND person in the game, and interviewing old “COLD” players and getting their takes on things is dope! I would have asked Kobe that same question AND that would have been my same reaction! 🤣 B Roy was that dude!
T mac and brandon roy are two players that could've been top 20 top 10 all time
AGREED!
Add grant hill
Top 10? Hell no
This guy was extremely talented, i remember watching his game winner. Guy was insane.
I was growing up watching brandon roy
Didn't Kobe say Brandon Roy's game had no weaknesses?
Roy was not an elite defender
*Brandon Roy* amazing💜🌹
@@munir9527 I would say he was average to above average on defense
I think Kobe was talking about his offense tho
I’m so Glad I’m Early to this Show. So dope to see a Young current player doing this💯💯💯
Damn, I did not even know that story, BRoy and Kobe together watching the game
Thank you for this MPJ.. & of course B.Roy as well. Beautiful story. LL Bean
Man is a hall of Famer 2.0 💫
My second favorite player's favorite player is my favorite player 💪🏽
Prime BRoy for those who didn’t get to watch him I’ll just sum it up like this. If you were to rank all time SGs it would’ve went
MJ
Kobe
BRoy
That’s how ELITE BRoy was!
I respect Roy so much....the Lakers could never beat the Blazers in Portland. It was an automatic loss. Good ole days!!
Imagine a portland team with healthy roy, lillard, oden, aldridge and mccollum. nurkic and whiteside coming off the bench
Imagine roy not getting hurt and a healthy greg oden.. 🤯
Brandon Roy was the truth. Injuries unfortunately hurt his career but he was the man.
Damn you can tell B Roy was a big fan of Kobe like a lil kid lol... Good brother!! Haven't seen B Roy in 4ever, glad he's still doing alright...
Brandon Roy did an amazing job telling this story without MPJ's help. MPJ, if you're reading this, you need be more engaged like you're actually enjoying this conversation. I would've loved to see this story told on @knuckleheads.
I have tromendous respect for you Brandon Roy by Steve Irungu Jermaine
Amazing story so awesome
Do one with Sheed Wallace, but B Roy you were a #GOAT
Imagine Roy as Portland head coach
player coach?
People don't know Roy was so good damn I hate that he got hurt. Him Oden was going be dominant I believe they never got injured they would've got a ring together.
Brandon Roy and Derrick rose. Scary when healthy.
Brandon Roy is the fifth biggest what if, in the history of the NBA.
So curious to hear your top 4?
@@chrisdellosa1139
Ralph Sampson
Penny Hardaway
Derek Rose
Grant Hill
As a Celtics fan, I want to say Len Bias, but since he never played, there's really no what if, compared to B.Roy, who was a stud in the NBA.
@@Bunny.8i yeah strong list thanks g
@@Bunny.8i would you also slot greg oden in? Or we didnt see enough of him?
@@chrisdellosa1139 big men take time.
With that said, in the NBA, Oden never showed flashes of greatness, a clutch gene, or signs of any overwhelmingly positive characteristic.
Roy and Oden was a top tier duo. Roy had HOF potential
era was 🥶
What what🥶
My idol Brandon Roy
B roy was raw talent.
This is gonna be a full time job for MPJ, with his back issue, I doubt he has a long career. But congratulations on fleecing the Nuggets.
You really came on here to hate on another man 💀
@@jonathancamejo4588I agree, MPJ is human just like us. Dude can't be happy for him. MPJ is now a world champ 🏆😂
Love this
BRoy was a beast before the injuries smh 🤦🏾♂️
I've been finding out recently, how big of a Kobe stan B. Roy was. Like I could imagine Kobe hitting a game-winner over him, and Roy celebrating with the Lakers.🤣
People really dnt kno how great Brandon roy was... Before Damion lillard it was Brandon roy and lamarcus Aldridge running Portland
I started watching NBA at like 8 yrs old and the Mavs were my team (Nash,Fin,Dirk) bc I live near the area. My 1st favorite player in the NBA was Tracy McGrady, and Brandon Roy became my favorite player after he came into the league... his offensive skillset was mesmerizing and I destroyed everybody on 2K9 with "The Natural" lol.
Then, I was conflicted when he gave my Mavs a hard time in the 2011 playoffs in the 1st round and I was even more sad when that was the last time I was going to see him at his best bc if he didn't have any injury problem when he played against us, Dirk might've not gotten his 1st and only championship that year.
After Brandon Roy was crippled and destroyed by injuries, PG13 became my favorite player, and now Luka Doncic is my current favorite player.
When he said "how you doin man" I heard kobe's voice.
He was a problem fr fr 💯💯💯 was a future hall of fame fosure.injuries got in the way
Roy would have been the second coming of the mamba
Need more Curious Mike yall.
This is so cool haha 😊
Kobe like jordan
Brandon was a baaaad man
2:43 AYO???
What was that hand motion fam??
Kobe Tribute video I made guys! Lmk what do you think!
@
congratulations on the deal let me hold something😂😂
It’s funny - no one really talks about how they idolize Lebron, but you hear players talk about how they idolized Kobe all the time.
206 in the house
Greg Oden, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy would have been so good if not hurt
Brandon Roy could have been (was for a short time) to Kobe, what Ron Harper was to Michael Jordan for a time.
He was about to say @2:45 "No homo".
I wonder if Kobe could tell B Roy was a fan of him.
Broy vs Dame for blazers's goat
Who you got?
Brandon Roy had a similar career like Penny Hardaway. If he just didnt get injured.....😢
BRoy could have picked any other podcast
If he plays I’m playing. Fucking Kobe 😂
Him, Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway. How different the league would have been if they could have stayed healthy. SMH. The NBA was robbed
“I did a lot of studying about juvenile narcissism, and juvenile narcissists are the worst because they think they only deserve the best. They want to be the leaders. They don’t accept counseling or advice. You can’t criticize them. Kobe was a juvenile narcissist.”Laker head coach Phil Jackson
Yall all idolize kobe whether they admit it or not
Brandon Roy was a killer on the court but his career was robbed by injuries. All basketball fans lost.
No doubt B Roy wouldve been to Kobe what Kobe is to Jordan
Why does look like a video game
Damn play 5 years first Mike 😂 mf already got a podcast
The only memory of Kobe, that I remember, is him leading his daughter into a death trap, to save time.
How many player see Kobe as their idol? He is respected by his peers , coaches , other athletes from different sports, but not by media or Lebrun fans lol.what can I say 🤦
That's problem with you people you set people up as idols 😂
LeBron James PPG, FG%, 3pt%, TS%, REB, AST, STL, BLK higher then Kobe Bryant. So it's pretty clear LeBron the better player 🤭
LeBron 39,531 pts on 50.5% fg more points then Kobe 33,643 pts on 44.7% fg
LeBron 1st all time points
Kobe 1st all time missed shots
Bleacher report top 50 greatest NBA players all time
1. Michael Jordan
2. LeBron James
3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
6. Shaquille O'Neal
7. Tim Duncan
14. Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant 44.7% fg only 32.9% 3pt most missed shots in the NBA history not even top 10 player all time that's why Bleacher report has him #14
Kobe Bryant 15 losses seasons he didn't win ring including getting swept 3 times by Jazz 4-0 in 1998 playoffs and by Spurs 4-0 in 1999 playoffs and by Mavericks 4-0 in 2011 playoffs last I checked he doesn't have 20 championships
I literally was just playing 2k24 mamba moments. Played that game against Portland where you have to hold em to only 15pts. Needless to say he was fkn cooking! Gave me like 23 lol
Me to lol
