    This story added confirmation to my understanding about Kobe. Yeah he disrespected or ignored many of his team mates. But it was because only few put in the work and toughness up to Kobe's standard. Like even he defended Adam Morrison, because he puts in the work.

    Because of this Kobe thing Devean George was one of the key reasons the Lakers kept winning from 2002-2004. Starting against the Sac Kings in 02 and hitting big shots in 2004 against the Spurs. George played well in 2003 too but was hurt in S.A. when he went to the basket one of those games. Devean George hitting shots alongside Fisher was a big reason the Lakers went back to the Finals in 2004.

    He definitely wasn't early on but he learned how to be a leader later in his career. Some lead by example, some lead vocally but they all want the same results. Magic led one way, Kareem led one way, MJ led one way, Kobe led one way.

    • @MakePlaze
      @MakePlaze 7 місяців тому +1

      Correction! - He definitely WAS early on, Even by your own understanding of leading Mental Still... From day one to the last day as a Laker, KBB led with his actions. And if you want to call 1999 later on in his career, he was obviously vocal per D.George standards, and the breakdown of this video. What makes him the best leader/ player you seen on the basketball court, is because not only did he add all the greats leading style, he added all the greats skills to his book (the boi even shot the best Dirk's shot against Dallas in Dallas outside of Dirk (his version of paying tribute to another great by studying his game)). Case and point, MJ lead a certain bulls team by breaking a team mates nose because he wasn't playing hard enough in practice. KBB version was the elbow to the chest of sasha for not practicing hard enough. From 20 years of observation, the only players he couldn't lead was I.Rider, Shaq, S.Parker, and D.Howard. But that's 10 fold with the amount of players who didn't play with him that he sensei'd.

    Yeah, Shaq's lazy butt would not have won in LA without Kobe.The West was too strong. You win in the 4th quarter, not the first 3, and Shaq was a liability in the 4th and useless at guarding anyone beyond 10 ft from the basket. He didn't always give effort on the defensive end and had horrible cardio. Even Jerry Sloane said, we didn't really guard Shaq the first 3 quarters to keep our players out of foul trouble but when the 4th came, that was when they threw bodies at him and by then Shaq was already exhausted,wasn't a good passer, and didn't have many offensive moves making him predictable. Not to mention he couldn't hit free throws.Del Harris and Shaq prevented Kobe from developing at the pace he would have, had he went to another organization. Shaq talks crap about Barkley never winning a chip, but without Kobe, Shaq would have been in the same boat as Barkley. Even former teammates said Kobe was pretty much unstoppable and was killing everyone in practice, especially Eddie Jones, when he was a Rookie to prove a point .Dell Harris still didn't play him. If Kobe was the main option on offense against the Pistons, they would have won. Kobe could score from anywhere and could pass, making it harder to prepare against the Lakers. Shaq had only one way to score and it wore him out by thr 4th. That year, Shaq was out of shape and only played half a season from a broken leg. Phil even had to tell Kobe to dial it back because they were losing Shaqs effort. Shaq was getting jealous because Kobe was averaging 40, all nba defense and they were winning without Shaq. Shaq was always a sensitive guy.
