all of PXG's clubs are named after military occupational specialty's in the United States Marine Corps. The driver name 0811x is based off of the 0811 MOS of field artillery cannoneer. Massive respect to this company as a Marine Corps veteran myself. Their irons are named 0311 after the infantry rifleman, and their woods are named 0341 after the infantry artillerymen, finally their hybrids are the 0317 after the scout snipers. Love this company, and especially love their discounts for active duty and veterans of the armed services.
I ordered one of these recently using their Heroes program for mil/vets - $299 configured how you want it. For that price I think it’s a no-brainer and a decent upgrade over my current XR (2015) driver. 🤷♀️
I'd be interested to see a comparison between this driver and the SLDR. If I remember correctly, the SLDR was a major spin killer for Rick at one time.
Just ordered mine today. Along with the 3,5 woods. And a putter, all for $400!!! I’ve had the GEN1 irons for a year. Love them. I greatly appreciate the fact that they honor veterans and 1st responders.
When Rick reviewed the "Vertical Grooves" driver (which had the same spin numbers) he concluded the spin was too low for his liking. Maybe a little bias going on with the looks and price of PXG? I must admit all PXG clubs look incredible.
True, and to be honest i wrote my comments before the end of the video. That said the overall feel of the two videos were very different even though the numbers (spin, distance, etc) were similar. Not throwing shade because I am a fan but I have to call it like I see it.
PXG clubs look incredible? .. interesting, I feel exactly the opposite. What's with all the stupid screw heads? ... just makes the more difficult to keep clean and can't possibly add anything to the actual performance of the product. They look stupid to me. I would never buy them.
It is funny how two ppl can look at the same thing and see something completely different. The screws are my favorite part lol. Functionality wise I believe the screws are weights, at least thats what they are in the drivers.
Rick, could you please do a blind test with all the big adjustable drivers, were someone else changes the weights and/or the loft without you knowing what, so the numbers are very near to reality?
Seeing some of the comments on here, some people need to do research into the PXG brand. To be fair Rick told me a lot when we had a lesson, but it's basically in the same boat as Bugatti. They're not making the clubs to make profit, it's a statement luxury club. For people who want to say look at me, I have far too much money. Looks the part, however I've just invested in the M1 and only got that because I got a decent amount for my previous driver. Keep up the good work Rick, catch up with a lesson soon!
Only difference is that the price of a Bugatti is more justified in the performance. If a Bugatti did 0-60 like a Vauxhall Corsa does do you think they would charge the kind of price they do? Probably not
SH1591 then a corsa would be a Donnay slammer. Comparison more like a Ferrari and and a Bugatti. Totally missed the point of my post, the point was that people aren’t necessarily buying the club as it’s the best for performance on the course. People are going to buy it to make a statement by saying look, I have this and it’s worth this much.
AeroBurner is very forgiving, I'd say more forgiving than M1 with weight in back position. But M1 then can obviously be adjusted to low-spin with weight to the front and not so forgiving. I guess M1 makes a bit more sense if you aren't worried about finding the fairway generally... But try to hit them both and go with whatever you like better :-)
Does anyone know if you can use a pxg driver without any weights..If you took all the weights out would it make a difference to the integrity of the head ..
thanks for the reply rick but even if i had a spare grand knocking about i would rather spend it on something more useful like getting my piles sorted privately rather than waiting on the nhs.Maybe do a pile cream review or am i on the wrong channel😁.
A much more efficient way of switching the weights from front to back would be to remove one then start alternating removal and replacement leaving the first weight removed out...then once all the others have been alternated reinstall the first weight into the remaining open slot. By doing so with this type of screw weighting you will be even more of a good weight switcher\changer. Kind of surprised that only the spin numbers changed on the weight shift as there was little to no trajectory change that I could see.
A Titleist 917 Driver costs say $500 and an after marketTour AD shaft costs say $400 odd then that is most of the difference. I’d say the top spec shaft accounts for most of the performance.
Love the review, this question doesn't really have to do with it though. I"m just curious you test a lot of clubs, and they come in a lot of different grips, do you have a preference for grips, or do you see any advantage in some grips vs others (ie corded vs rubbersoft).
Amazing to me the number of posts that are negative about PXG only due to the price. Are they too expensive? Consumers will answer that question with little concern for jealous posts. I haven't hit them, yet, but I like the look, the background and the founders ethos. So, if you don't like them but haven't hit them please don't comment.
Nobody should endorse clubs that cost that much. It’s blind consumerism for a market that is already blighted with inflated prices. If they don’t perform the twice as good as other high end gear they don’t deserve the price tag. It’s not limited edition or signed by a pro, you’re wasting your money if you buy them.
Need a higher launch angle if the spin is that low, as the higher 13.5º launched ball showed out of the first group of shots showed, lower than that & won't get the carry & distance.
Everyone is talking about the price the price. I know Bob Parsons is a billionaire but he went and hired the best guys he could find on the market to design his clubs. Gave them a blank check and no time frame. Need to recoup those losses in some way.
Love the look of that shaft...any chance in a PXG 250K subs give away?? nice work again though Rick..really helping to take social media & golfing to the next level recently. keep it up mate.
I don’t feel that is the case. Though I do have 118mph club head speed. I have not always had higher speed, and still used a very low spinning driver (even lower than the PXG) if your launch angle is high enough, that will keep the ball in the air.
I live in Phoenix as does mister Parsons. He was the founder of GoDaddy. Sold it and obviously did well. He has several businesses that he has started in the area. 1 being the largest Harley Davidson dealer anywhere. He does everything first class. Believe it or not they have no problem selling these clubs in the Phoenix Scottsdale area. However there are a number of used sets out there. These clubs are obviously for the well-heeled individual.
Hi Rick, you realize that same graphite design shaft in your epic driver will cost you $830 US, graphite design tour ad di 7 was a $330 upgrade on my $500 epic driver. If you keep one of the stock shafts and don’t swing hard on an epic there’s a price difference with upgraded shafts there’s not.
Great review. I have to say though for a driver that cost 1,000 dollars thats absolutely nuts! It should come with a daily free cup of coffee for a year! If it shows up at my local Golfers warehouse I will give it a try just to see. It did okay in the review but not to the tune of 1,000 bucks. It looks an awful lot like a Ping driver . :) Not surprised. I honestly think I would buy a brand new Ping G driver and buy that instead. It is a nice looking driver though.
I happen to play PXG irons and this driver, I am no big time charlie.with pots of gold but to be honest they are the best clubs out on the market in my opinion. yes they are expensive but boy do they perform. I have never hit more consistent iron shots and drives and they provide me with a good feeling every time I go out to play. I guess ultimately that's what were all looking for to enjoy the game a little better. They get bags of comments when seen close up. If these clubs were twice the price they would be cheap in my opinion and if they were half the current price everybody would be using them. This is only my opinion. I guess its like buying a car you can buy a reasonable priced one and it will still get you where you want to go or you can buy a expensive one and get there in a little more style and feel good whilst your travelling. What I can say is that PXG generates opinion just look 157 comments in 1 day. Whilst a lot is generally negative that's OK. What it comes down to if you can afford it then buy it, if you cant then dont. But to finish if you play these clubs you will never be able to get the smile off your face when you tee it up and that feeling is priceless. PS I do not work for PXG.
Oh man, I joked a while back that the drivers should be filled with a muting foam to eliminate the much hated ting sound. Now, it is featured in a super expensive driver. Lol
Am I the only one sitting here wondering where the hell these PXG clubs came from??? I feel like they just burst onto the scene, very tough to do, very impressive, gotta give em credit.
I don't understand why everyone complains about price. It's an option, you dont have to buy it. It's a good looking club that performs well and has a different sound and feel. Their irons are responsible for the taylormade p790 irons, which are great irons but they copied PXG. Competition is good, if I hit their irons and driver well, I will buy them.
Super looking club BUT from what I have seen [not an expert] it doesn't really outperform other clubs significantly enough to justify the price at least for the normal golfer Great review again Rick; I really enjoy hearing your opinions on clubs Cheers
Looks like the dispersion, even for a good player, is all over the place. That is consistent with what I have seen from amateur users. Good when you hit it pure, wild when you don’t
That shaft alone is $500 MSRP. Have one installed in your new M4 or G400 and I bet you're looking at close to a grand as well. I believe PXG still offer a $150 discount on the normal up charge for Graphite Design shafts which I would think closes the $ gap between PXG and other off the rack OEMs. These clubs may seem a little $$$, but if you were to buy Miura, KZG, Fourteen, vega, okra... the list goes on... you'd be spending just as much. Hell, look up some of the Asian Market only products from Callaway and TMAG! 🤢some of that stuff is insanely priced.
Great review as always but What you should do Rick is keep testing the Old clubs against New clubs to show the ridiculous nature of the golf industry publicity/ marketing campaign.
Looks nice but there is no reason on earth for it to cost that much. I love my golf but these companies are getting ridicules on there prices of there clubs
They other reason why they are higher priced is cuz they are American made. All those other brands can made in bulk overseas. Not defending the price just a bit of a reason why cost is higher.
I got this exact driver last year for free after purchasing a set of 0211 irons (through their military program). This driver did not outperform my TaylorMade R11 from 2011... not worth anything in my opinion and I'm going to trade it in towards something this year.
For any U.S. military veterans watching this, PXG is now offering a more than 50% veteran discount on select clubs including this driver. I just ordered mine custom fitted for $295.00 USD, $340.00 with tax and shipping. Take advantage of this I’m not sure how long they will be doing this!
You're right, I never claimed otherwise, I'm just trying to make my fellow veteran golfers aware of the deal! It's still cheaper than most other brand's leading drivers on the market right now with this discount. I'm no advocate for PXG, but when a good deal like this comes along for veterans I like to spread the word.
jigarzasu .......wasn’t being rude mate, 300 bucks is more sensible......I was just trying to justify my opinion of them being vastly overpriced. Have a good day man.
Yes they are way overpriced for sure, I would never pay full price for any of their clubs, then again I would never pay full price for any club haha. By the way I didn't think you were being rude, have a good one!
It's pretty tough to say a driver HEAD is a spin killer. Throw that shaft in just about any driver head and just about everything is lower spin than what you tested
Looking at this a year on . . . . . the price has come down . . . . I guess you only know by trial and fitting whether this works for you. I’m in the market for a driver and the latest pricing with bespoke shafts is now £500 (and some) forPXG - the others without bespoke shafts for £400 - PXG may be worth a look
The pros that win tournaments are ones getting long putts in out top pros on the day. I do like driving for show but relise I don't improve unless getting long putts close No club will stop a open or closed club face rather spend money on lessons/technique If you got money then spend it on expensive clubs I like to think I can use any brand club and hit it reasonable because my technique
Yea all in all with that shaft and the price of that diver it's a 1,300 dollar club... I've spent less money on a set of irons. Insane, golf looking driver though
Wow! you averaged 311 yards total with only 108mph club head speed??? I wonder how far if you swung your normal 112mph??? Maybe your longest ever? Do you think you're swinging at 95%?
all of PXG's clubs are named after military occupational specialty's in the United States Marine Corps. The driver name 0811x is based off of the 0811 MOS of field artillery cannoneer. Massive respect to this company as a Marine Corps veteran myself. 6 degrees attack angle, that's incredible! Need a video on how to do that!
In America at the moment, The PXG 0811X driver is going for $189.00....yes...:) I have one, and I love it! This is Gen 4..
I ordered one of these recently using their Heroes program for mil/vets - $299 configured how you want it. For that price I think it’s a no-brainer and a decent upgrade over my current XR (2015) driver. 🤷♀️
Tour AD shafts are the absolute best! Have them in all my woods/hybrids.
So $1000 for a driver that preforms like the other drives at half the price. Got it.
Matthew Morin yup and clubs half the price of those $500 clubs hit the same too.
and the 4 year old $250 used clubs hit about the same too. But they do not look that sexy
PXG should have stuck to irons. Their irons are special. I’ve hit them... I’ve hit everything lol. Their driver isn’t anything special.
ClayG13 its actually 585$ american. 2019. Tm is 550.Callaway i think 530 so the new one not overboard. Irons are yes.
@@bryanhylok9961 How much is the shaft upgrade?
Seemed to preform pretty well, curious as to why some of their tour guys arent using their drivers. Pat Perez just got a W with a Taylormade m driver
I'd be interested to see a comparison between this driver and the SLDR. If I remember correctly, the SLDR was a major spin killer for Rick at one time.
Just did a fitting a few days ago and ordered this driver. Should I do my own video / unboxing Rick?
Just purchased this driver can’t wait to hit it
Now selling for 115 USD on their site, but the pricing for Veterans and First Responders only. A steal, even if the club is a couple years old, imo
Miguel Deleon just literally ordered mine!!!
I must admit all PXG clubs look incredible.
he did say at the end that he would suit/use the weights forward. That spin rate was 2100
True, and to be honest i wrote my comments before the end of the video. That said the overall feel of the two videos were very different even though the numbers (spin, distance, etc) were similar. Not throwing shade because I am a fan but I have to call it like I see it.

i agree, i do think they look really good but yeah, not good enough for the price
I can't wait to play against someone with PXG clubs.
Yeah.. at least you know they have some coin for those side bets.. well maybe they did have it before they bought into the PXG's...
2 kids I play with on my high school team have pxg irons and another kid has a pxg putter
I play PXG clubs and know many other competitive amateurs whom do as well. Please let me know if I can help set you up for some matches.
i love destroying people that play with the even more overpriced honma clubs.
tony armijo let’s do it. Where r u located?
I'll let you know how it goes I will get mine in a few days.
Good review.
When are you posting the p730!!!!
Rick, could you please do a blind test with all the big adjustable drivers, were someone else changes the weights and/or the loft without you knowing what, so the numbers are very near to reality?
Kim Schröder I would love to see that especially with the m1. See if the weights actually make a difference
In the US, I own pxg and the 0811x is $750, can’t believe it’s that expensive in the UK.

The loooooong overdue video thank you for this🙏🏻🙏🏻
what if you put most the 2 gram weights to the toe or heel would it help with slice or hooks?
Can you get your hands on the 0811XF driver and do a test on that as well ?
Rick, I wonder what numbers you would’ve produced with a 10.5 degree driver and weights forward?
Best way of getting decent clubs at a discount price?
I bought this driver and love it
Could you look at the JGR driver and irons from Bridgestone
To be honest I think the ping products look better at around third of the price
Using the Wilson wrench on the PXG is awesome.
Priced Xtra Guady PXG. Thanks for the info Rick. I’ll just have to stick with my Adams XDT from 2014. No $$$$
Did this club add carry and distance to your normal numbers Rick?
Great review as always Rick, but at the end are you saying PXG fitter did not fit the weights correctly for you and your numbers
Should I buy a Taylormade aero burner driver brand new for 150 or a second hand m1 for 190 from golf bidder
Thanks for the advice, I’ll be sure to go test out both and see what the results are!
Finally a tour AD shaft 😍. Gonna get that pretty flat ball flight I'm now getting with my M1
Hello, Will you review the PXG 0811 X XF but 2gen? Maybe to compare it with the M6. Thanks
Does anyone know if you can use a pxg driver without any weights..If you took all the weights out would it make a difference to the integrity of the head
..
Love that tour ad Rick! 👍🏼
Would love an on course review...
What’s the white dots you are putting on driverheads? Thankfull for answer:)
Malte Akesson it’s for the track man to get the location of strike
Its how the GC Quad collects the club head data. It picks up the dots to analyze the club head
roman Hnatiuk thanks!
Christian Andrade thanks!:)
Is there any club outside of the Ping Crossover he doesn’t love?
Rick could you please review the epic star driver is it worth over $700
thanks for the reply rick but even if i had a spare grand knocking about i would rather spend it on something more useful like getting my piles sorted privately rather than waiting on the nhs.Maybe do a pile cream review or am i on the wrong channel😁.
PXG are becoming the ultimate knob heads of the Golf world.
High 160 ball speeds ? Nearly every test you've done is 159-163?
Yeah, normal speeds and normal smash for Rick here...
Yea I feel he embellished a bit. Rick has a touch of an ego. I get it.
Great looking club but it is well outside of my budget. I’m really happy with my Ping G30👍🏽
Love my Ping G30, too!
What happened to the golf ball giveaway?
Gr8 video Rick!
Hi Rick, would you pay £250 for this driver brand new?
I will just keep swinging my Adams Blue driver I paid $60 for off EBay !
Good review
Everyone is talking about the price the price. I know Bob Parsons is a billionaire but he went and hired the best guys he could find on the market to design his clubs. Gave them a blank check and no time frame. Need to recoup those losses in some way.
Love the look of that shaft...any chance in a PXG 250K subs give away?? nice work again though Rick..really helping to take social media & golfing to the next level recently. keep it up mate.
Isn't the danger with the spin being that low that unless you have plenty of club head speed it will just fall out of the sky?
David Fletcher yeah
Yes, but it depends how much spin you naturally put on the ball via your swing and strike. You can have a slow swing but still spin it too high
Not only that, but hooks and slices will be worse.
David he can loft it up and it will go even further
I don’t feel that is the case. Though I do have 118mph club head speed. I have not always had higher speed, and still used a very low spinning driver (even lower than the PXG) if your launch angle is high enough, that will keep the ball in the air.
It appears the ferrule was already damaged?
Well Rick, I keep hearing about low spin rates but I don't see the distance to reflect that. I'm starting to think spin rate is over hyped!
Do a head to head with TM M1, weights forward, same shaft.

That head cover! I had a pair of mitts like that...
Oh man, I joked a while back that the drivers should be filled with a muting foam to eliminate the much hated ting sound. Now, it is featured in a super expensive driver. Lol
finest mattress technology coming to a pro shop near you ;-)
looks awesome
Am I the only one sitting here wondering where the hell these PXG clubs came from??? I feel like they just burst onto the scene, very tough to do, very impressive, gotta give em credit.
Tour AD GP7x FTW!
I don't understand why everyone complains about price. It's an option, you dont have to buy it. It's a good looking club that performs well and has a different sound and feel. Great review again Rick; I really enjoy hearing your opinions on clubs
Cheers
Now it is $189.00 USD. in America.
When are you going to announce who wins the golf balls?
Hi, I announced this last week on social media. The winners have had their balls sent out in the post.
thanks
I'd be very interested in this driver if it was half the price. I'm still getting pretty good performance with my old R15 though.
MrDudestein
I have that driver . I like it a lot . I am considering getting the ping Gmax LS tech . Maybe the Taylor M2 or M1 .
I tested one, after the salesman ask how I liked it, told him I wanted to hit a club the cost more than my first car,
Looks like the dispersion, even for a good player, is all over the place. That is consistent with what I have seen from amateur users. Good when you hit it pure, wild when you don’t
Great honest review... ridiculously expensive, no thanks I’ll stick with Callaway Epic subzero
Great job rick!
Looks and sounds pure 👌
I think You need more loft if the spin is that low!
Great review as always but What you should do Rick is keep testing the Old clubs against New clubs to show the ridiculous nature of the golf industry publicity/ marketing campaign.
Far too expensive Rick, a bucket list item if I will the lottery! Great video club test.
Hey Richard! Have you seen our current special pricing? Our GEN2 driver is available for $295 USD :) ^A
Looks nice but there is no reason on earth for it to cost that much. I love my golf but these companies are getting ridicules on there prices of there clubs
They other reason why they are higher priced is cuz they are American made. All those other brands can made in bulk overseas. Not defending the price just a bit of a reason why cost is higher.
On sale for 249.00 now!!
Just cant get over that price !
It's hard to say what the numbers mean here, because your swing speed was faster with other drivers
I got this exact driver last year for free after purchasing a set of 0211 irons (through their military program). This driver did not outperform my TaylorMade R11 from 2011... not worth anything in my opinion and I'm going to trade it in towards something this year.

Robert Franks Hi Rob, why would that shaft in other heads produce a spin killer??
Just a really expensive Ping Driver.....I wonder does PXG stand for Ping Xpensive Gear
Can't wait to see Rick at the 2018 Wrench awards, I reckon it's down to him or Bob the builder...
Would love to see a battle of TM M4 PXG0811X Like your videos :)
Nike Vapor fly pro review had better numbers
Nike launch 16.5. 1800 spinning. 328 total carry
Glad to know Rick is just like myself, grab any wrench and make it work LOL.

Iphone X or this thing?
Considering you got fitted for that driver I've seen you hit much cheaper drivers more consistent than that one
For that price the club should swing itself whilst you stand by and watch it!!!
