    mule tape, the conduits come preinstalled with that rope in it, most of them at least. then when you pull the fiber or coax through you end up throwing a lot away unless you reuse the old string for your next pull

    The cot was an interesting piece. I 100% agree with investing in a sleep system that works best for you. It makes the next day much easier after a good nights rest

    Nice. My kit is similar, but just a bit more compact. Zpacks tent and bag and Exped pad; pricey but great if you can afford it. And I only carry a front tube as it can be used in the rear in a pinch, and yes I’ve confirmed this. For cooking, Jetboil stove which has a French press coffee attachment. For eating and stirring a long plastic spork made by Morsel as I find titanium get and stays too hot. I have tried that cot, it’s great with an air mattress on it, but I’m 51 and it’s not quite a necessity…yet.

      I certainly try to. Every trip I learn something new. I'm about to go off on a week and a half on the IDBDR. I'll probably figure something out that I didn't realize before. That's half the fun!

    I’m in the market for a much lighter adv/dual sport- Own a T7 which I like, but its too heavy. I was wondering if the WRR would suit my mosko rackless 80. This video answered that perfectly!

      You'll love it - if only just to say "KUNG FOON!!!" Seriously though, I really like it and take it on every trip.

    Good info Tom
    I’m gearing up for a fly fishing adventure tour on my WR! Question: what’s your opinion on the Mosco Mule 40? I’m a minimalist and think that the 40 w a Klime backpack should be sufficient. I haven’t purchased it yet, still doing a little more research.
    Thank you, Dave

    Just a couple of possible suggestions. Ditch the mallet for any available rock and use the smallest of available bic lighters. I hiked the AT with a wood stove and never needed more than the tiny Bic lighter. Regarding the cot, it has always garnered my interest but it looks much harder than any air mattress I've used and takes up way more precious room. . Most folks blow up air mattresses way too firm and then complain about how hard they are. Less is more when it comes to inflating air mattresses. Get yourself just barely off the ground. Do you find the cot really comfortable? Thanks for the video. I enjoyed the info and your easy going delivery. I also have and love the Reckless 80.

      Actually, my brother always carries his mallet, so I generally just sponge off of him. But it weighs so little it's not really a bother to take when he's not around. Since I did this video I found a really nice little lighter slightly longer than a typical bic, but shoots out a nice flame. As far as the cot goes, I find it very comfortable, especially as compared to just an air mattress on the ground. But I also prefer a very firm mattress, so you and I may differ here. I turn 63 this year and a comfortable sleep is pretty dang important.

    what kind of tires are do you run?

    • @OldTomRides
      @OldTomRides  2 роки тому +1

      When I had the WR250R I had a Pirelli MT21 on front and a Dunlop D606 on the rear. It was a very good combo giving excellent traction and rode pretty well on pavement as well. On my current bike, a 2020 KTM 390 Adventure I'm running Bridgestone Adventurecross AX-41 front and back. Just returned a month ago from a trip to Colorado and back doing the COBDR and the tires were excellent.
