I found it to be a nice and versatile palette for everyday and travel. It survived the plane trip back to Laredo from Phoenix! The butcher block is sturdy!!

Hello Belinda! I never use the mirror either. It kind of just doesn’t work on the go and ends up being shaky and such so I understand what you mean. And, yes, exactly. We definitely have these shades but it’s nice to have them in one place for travel.

Thanks for getting this up Rebecca!! Like I mentioned to you, it's not groundbreaking, but I'm only looking for a travel palette for my one week trip to Florida - I think this and a couple of peachy lippies/gloss is all I need. I don't want to have to have to think about what blush works with what highlighter and what shadows, this makes those decisions for me all in one place. I've never used the mirror inside of a makeup palette in my life. At home I use my lighted makeup mirror and I have one for travel as well so that's neither here nor there for me. I love the quick easy look you do, I saw some powder flying around but I'll forgive that in a travel palette.
Michelle! I was just wondering if you were able to take a look at this video. I think this would indeed be perfect for your trip. Honestly, there’s not a lot of powder flying around. It’s just finally milled. It’s not the most perfect palette in the world but you are absolutely right it is quick, you have your own travel mirror, as you say the shades all work together. And it’s not too pricey. So I think it’s really gonna solve a lot of issues for you.

Tracy! I am a sucker for face Palettes. So much so that I will make a blush palette into a face palette by using it on the eyes as well. So this absolutely had me the minute it was released.

Should have had 3 shade selections from the launch date. They are coming out with a mirror to put inside and they do have refillables which is nice but wish they had more shades to customize and for other skin tones
Agreed. It needs more shade choice but the mirror and replacements are def good.
Thank you so much for featuring this set. Everything looked very nice on you - especially for day looks. Understated looks are far more practical on a day-to-day basis and this palette does fit that bill. But I agree that the shades are not suitable for medium-to-deep skin tones. Furthermore, the shades look most appropriate for warm undertone. Do you think the bronzer and blush shades would suit fair-cool skin tones? (my case)
I agree it's very warm but I think, for instance, Charlotte Tilbury warm makes this look cool. In other words, def more neutral than a lot of very warm shades by other brands. I actually do think the round blush, for instance, would work on cool skin tones.

That’s a neat looking palette! I love the bamboo but not having a mirror is weird. I haven’t tried anything from this brand and it’s unlikely I’ll get this for at least two reasons 1)the shapes!!!! Are these brands intentionally trying to drive me bonkers??😂😂2) it’s not deep enough for brown skin or even someone very tan.
I did read the shade names and they did tickle me a bit😂😂
Also, I don’t think you mentioned it but these are listed as talc free AND the pans pop out, so they can be refilled, which helps with sustainability, so it seems they will be offering replacements or maybe new shades. I read that refills are available on their website. If you want to recycle the pan, just remove the magnet and the pans. Very thoughtful to Mother Earth. I give it 10 stars for the commitment. ❤🌎
Tracie! Did you see the name of the shade that I did not use? That was the bad one for me. I honestly feel like such a prude. And it’s not that so much as the worries about demonetization. But also the aesthetic. I think they really hyper sexualized the brand and I’m not sure I understand that other than the old adage that that’s what sells. The shapes are ridiculous in this and I have a subscriber who sent me some photos of some Korean Eyeshadow palettes that are in the exact same layout and also in bamboo so it was kind of interesting inspiration… If we can call it inspiration and not thievery. In terms of the shade choices, this wasn’t even dark enough for my light medium skin. I understand it can be built and I understand, in a way, it’s a prototype for them, really, as a still small brand growing. But more inclusion is Not only needed, it’s expected now and this was a little bit strange. Almost like, stay with me here, they chose the sustainability aspect over anything else. And I think Brands can be sustainable and inclusive. I don’t understand why they have to focus on only one aspect. It’s bamboo, it’s sustainable, there’s no mirror, nothing will be in a landfill. And that’s great. To do that to the exclusion of anything else seems strange to me.

The shades are absolutely maddening to me. Yes, the big elephant in the room is the how non-inclusive this palette is as we sit in 2023. Im not suggesting everything that is released by every single brand has to be made for everyone but releases such as this send the message that they are only interested in gaining the business of a diverse group, including anymore deeper than light medium. I wholeheartedly agree with you that they went for environmental conscious over style and inclusivity. ❤
They said in the video on Sephora that they have a mirror that is sold separately. I love face-and-eye palettes, and my eyes do better with talc-free products. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of warm tones. Hopefully, they'll come out with additional color stories.

They missed the mark here by excluding all but fair skin tones. Either release multiple palettes or none at all. Review great as usual and I was giggling watching you navigate those names. Nars and Caliray need a Makeup Only Fans😂

Okay so I reeeeally like Caliray’s aesthetic. Their highlighters are awesome (SUPER INTENSE) and the setting spray is amazing (a dewier version of Charlotte Tillbury’s). I was definitely eyeing this face/eye palette because I’m a SUCKER for those boring neutrals. I enjoy a very basic easy look.
HOWEVER, from your demo, I wish they added a darker brown (to really turn it into night) for eyeshadow. Also they could have made some other shade options to include our tanner/darker sisters.
Also I really really would have enjoyed a mirror but since they’re trying to be recyclable/sustainable and what not I guess that can pass.
Apparently, founder Wende Z says they are selling mirrors on their site that will fit inside for those who want one. Hmmmm.... But no darker shades. Those aren't being sold unfortunately.
Selling mirrors instead of including it in the palette… yaaaah no thanks😂

I purchased this palette, and I can't decide whether I like it or not. I think I do. lol. I bought it immediately because I find most palettes too dark on my ultra fair skin. This one doesn't overwhelm my face. But the texture of the shimmer shades seems so dry. I'm going to keep playing with it.
Andrea, I'm so on the fence too. I hate the hyper sexualized marketing Not because I'm a prude. But because it's not classy. I love how easy it is but I'm not totally impressed with the quality. I think I like it too, tho. But I GET what you're saying for sure.

The bamboo packaging is really cute. I think this would be a nice palette for a young girl that is just starting to use makeup (the names are bad, though). I like the brown colors but the rest of the colors don’t seem to have a lot of color payoff.

I try not to to be negative, or yuck someone’s yum, but here it comes anyway. Besides looking really boring to me, how is this going to work for anyone with a deeper skin tone than mine? It even looks too light for you. The packaging is pretty, and I don’t use the mirrors, but I feel like they really missed on this. Do you think they’ll release darker palettes? Hello there, Sheila! Yuck on someone’s yum the best phrase I’ve heard all day. No, I don’t think they will release darker pallets. And yes it is a little too light for my skin tone and I am light medium. So there we have it. I have tremendous concerns about this brand in general. I tend to keep my broader opinions out of my reviews so that I can focus simply on the product, but I think it’s probably obvious. it looks like they are selling a Malibu lifestyle of blonde 20 year olds in bikinis. And while there’s nothing wrong with being a blonde 20 year-old in a bikini, it doesn’t suit most of us

How is this on textured skin? I am interested but on the very young models in the ads it looked pretty textured. I am thinking this was a lighting choice but wanted to ask.
Actually, it’s not bad on texture. And the highlights are pretty gentle so that doesn’t emphasize either. So interesting. It has some faults but I’m not sure that that is one of them.

They are definitely not putting too much emphasis on where it is made and their products are made, as they claim, both domestically and internationally. So I am assuming it might be China but that is an absolute and complete assumption. I will need to look it up.
From another reviewer, they said it was made in the USA and Dominican Republic. I can't find that info anywhere else online though.

Would've loved to see more in depth analysis on this one. The names don't bother me as much as the idea the palette is a snooze and the only thing remotely interesting was the shock of the names. I get you report journalistically on the products and while the look is pretty, the color story is not friendly for a large segment of the population. The lack of mirror and the formula not being groundbreaking, also leaves much to be desired. The mirrorless palette also isn't travel friendly if I have to bring it and an extra mirror to apply. This just seemed like a palette made for a few and not made that well. I thought brands had advanced beyond this sort of thing? To be honest I could create a no makeup look with a number of other brands and buying sort of average products, average colors, average formulas just isn't the way I want to spend my money. I would rather pay more for quality, the colors that I want, with the appropriate pigment (this lacked that even for some fair skinned people), and the quality I want. If the only thing remotely interesting are unnecessarily risqué names they should go back to the drawing board.

Totally agree and to think they had the nerve to price it so high. Poor shades, small pans with wasted space, no mirror... what were they thinking. Also for $10 CAD more you can get the natasha denona glam face palette which is much better in quality, application and shades
They are coming out with a mirror soon to buy. I don’t know why they just didn’t do that in the first place other than they make more money.

Even though I'm fair, I'm not a fan of the color story. Too warm for me and I don't even think that light white shimmer would show up as a highlight. I need a galactic in your face outter space shade to show up on my paper white skin 😅 But it's pretty
Maybe that is a matte, my mistake. Either way the highlight is probably still too dark for me 😂 Most bronzey shades make me look umpa lumay so who would it suit, just fair warm tones maybe. Looks pretty though as I said ❤
I think you make a really interesting point here and, furthermore, I think it’s a very valid point. I am getting a lot of people in comments saying that this is not friendly for darker skin tones and I agree. But your point is kind of really accurate as well. The very fair will have trouble with certain shades here as well. So it’s kind of like Jack of all trades master of none.
I think it's a mistake that they did not include a mirror in the palette. It's a very pretty but natural look on you. I do get California vibes from it.

It´s a cute palette but only for fair people. The packaging is really lovely, but no mirror?... so 48 dollars for 7 shades... eep a bit expensive. The owner of this brand is the original owner of Urban Decay, so I think that´s why the name choices.

Good morning, Rebecca. As soon as you opened up that palette, it was a huge no for me. The “wow” factor is not there for me and it’s lacking inclusivity. It’s just too light. It looks great on you, though. As for the names, they must be hanging out with NARS and Patrick Starrr, with his Cheek Clappers. As for their lack of inclusivity, they have to be hanging out with Hourglass😭🥰💜.
