I never quite understand why UA-camrs declutter make up that they really love because it isn’t sold anymore. You could still do a tutorial with it and I would bet the majority of people that watch the channels also have a lot of those older items. If they’ve gone bad that makes sense but just because they’re not sold anymore? It makes it feel a little bit to me like everything on UA-cam is an ad for things we can buy. When I started watching make up UA-cam about six years ago it seemed just more for the love of that make up I guess. Anyway this isn’t specific to you this is something that virtually every Beauty contact creator seems to do.
Agree plus would be nice seeing different looks with older stuff we mite have 👍🏻
I always wonder the same thing. If you love something, surely there are days you can wear when you are not on YT? Really curious why.
A while ago she did a video of a full face of makeup you can’t buy anymore/discontinued makeup or something like that and I LOVED it. I requested more of that style because like you said, we’ll watch whatever and we probably also have some of those items in our collections. I don’t believe she’s made another video like that but it would be nice.
It’s just more of a courtesy to her audience that can’t get it anymore. Like don’t tempt us if you know it’s unnattainable kind of thing.
Plus we need space for new makeup that comes in. Plus time pass by and makeup expires. So it's better to pass it on to someone else or discard if they're too old. I declutter from time to time and give it to my mom and friends.

10000% agree! love those videos because it encourages me to dip into the makeup I already have and love. I'm so tired of this new, must buy, buy more mentality with makeup nowadays. It's so exhausting and I've lately started to get tired of watching makeup videos and following releases. lol!
Am I the only one that silently screamed NO! This was painful for me to watch especially Cocoa Mirage and Cognac Sable. I’ll probably keep those until the end. I’m so glad you kept all of Soleil Neige and Double Indemnity. They are my faves. You are very strong Michele. I like the idea of keeping all of TF quads in a separate place but also think it’s better to find someone who will use and enjoy them. I am not looking forward to the face palette declutter.😳

I was just wondering why you keep the palettes based on their availability and not on the fact if you like them or not? I do understand that for your UA-cam channel you prefer to use those makeup items that we can purchase, but what about using makeup just for yourself, because you like it? Would be interesting to hear about that! :)

I audibly gasped when you got rid of Cognac Sable and Cocoa Mirage. Those two quads are so iconic that even if only for comparison purposes and to keep a piece of history I would have held on to them. I own Cocoa Mirage but I missed the opportunity of getting Cognac Sable and it was discontinued shortly after that and I still hate myself after all these years. I would have never gotten rid of that one.

If you really love something don't get rid of it because it's no longer available. ttsandra uses a lot of discontinued (mostly Burberry) shadows and then offers suggestions of dupes or close matches. I have gone searching for new unused qauds that I ended up feeling that I missed out on. TF Daydream was a recent one. Sometimes a color combo or slight difference in tones just can't be matched
I picked up some discontinued ones at the Cosmetic Company, Daydream was one of them. 60% off retail..You can find those stores at outlet malls. I believe they are owned by TF parent company Estee Lauder
@@annakim5589 Cognac Sable is one that I've looked for for along time. If it does pop up it's always ridiculously expensive. Obviously if things are old or off they've got to go, but if it's no longer available and I love it then it's even more of a pleasure to have in my collection

I just added Body Heat, Honeymoon, African Violet, & Disco Dust to my collection. They were offering them 75% off plus 15% off one item. I can never bring myself to pay full price. They were $18.92 to $ 22.24 each at The Cosmetic Store.
I personally feel that even if they're not available, if they still bring you joy, keep them. You could still use them on days when you're not recording. There's no sense in getting rid of something that you love.

The Cosmetic Company Outlet (CCO) has a lot of the discontinued quads so while someone may not be able to buy them online, they can call the various CCO locations and have them delivered.
They also have quads that are still available at a steep discount! I got Body Heat for $22!

I'm so proud of you! Very brave and grounded decision. Many more beautiful items will be made, and you can't just hang onto the old ones. Decluttering is a healthy way to clear the path for new things to come. And your lucky friends and relatives will get some of them. It's a win-win!
I need to go through this process, too. I just can’t part with my makeup for some reason. I have no problem parting with my clothes. This year, I have cut back on purchases. Now if I can just let go of the excess.

Michele! Hope I'm not too late! Please make some photos of all the decluttered quads! I think you would be also glad to look at such photo after some years. If you have enough time and wish, you can hire a professional photographer and make some fun pictures with those quads lying on the bad or sitting on the bench. Do you know that love story-themed photoshots? Why not having such pictures with TF quads since you truly love them 😄

I saw Desert Fox, Disco Dust, Leopard Sun and Body Heat at the Estée Lauder outlet last weekend.
This motivated me to declutter my eyeshadow palettes. Many of my older Charlotte Tilbury quads are now gone (the quality isn’t nearly as good as the newer ones) but I can seem to let go of my ND Metropolis palette even though it’s been at least a year since I used it.
I just went through my 18 tom ford quads and decluttered a bunch. Listed them on posh.
Testing what stayed in, pretty much brown and peach, how many of them are really indistinguishable after applying. I tend to hang on more to unique shades.
Wooow noo, this is the reason why i keep a few pallets (maybe 3) one from each color range, since my first and last declutter broke my heart and pockets 🥴😂

O m g I wish I lived close to you I would be at your home and be your best friend. Well I guess I could be from the east coast anyway. I love the mink mirage and would love to try the cocoa mirage and of course the nude dip and mercurial have the stunning highlighters in them that make my old eyes just gleem. I always love the basic black brown and white and now I add the highlighters and love the dark shades of purple/maroons. I think the Tom Ford eyeshadows are the best I have used. I can’t believe you give them away. Love you Michele!

I bought Noir Fume after your try on video and it's still to this day one of my favorites palette! But it got discontinued a while ago...which breaks my heart. I don't want to use it because I can't get it anymore (and don't want to be attached to it) but I also can't let it go because I do love it so much 😢

I decuttered my makeups a few years back and i keep thinking about some of them from time to time, there are definitely regrets since they have been discontinued. I wished i hold on to them at least for another period of time to really decide if i was really ready to depart with them.

Well, I think you’ve just killed me. Especially with cognac sable and burnished amber! I have them both in my collection ( all most the entire tf quads collection from the very beginning) I searched so hard to get the burnished amber after it been discontinued, I still have two new back ups of cognac sable. They will be with me forever!
Thank goodness. I thought I was the only one with backups of Cognac Sable and Cocoa Mirage. I'm still hard pressed to find make up as buttery smooth as those ones.

Not easy to do! Good job! It has to feel so good. A couple of years ago, you used to do much more swatching, including discontinued items for reference or doing in depth videos on one brand or one type of product. Your channel has grown into what it is today and you haven't been doing that as much, which is understandable. Swatching discontinued items only helps as a reference for those who own the discontinued item for comparison and takes more time to pull everything out and put it back. I love declutters!
I LOVE a cut throat declutter but I just don't understand getting rid of discontinued products that you LOVE. This goes for all influencers who do this. There are people out there who still have the products that you're getting rid of, so why not still use them on camera for those people? You could even title the video--Discontinued Products That I Still Love and Use. This way people know that they won't be able to get their hands on whatever is in the videos, but those who have them can still be inspired. Maybe it's a bad idea but I just feel like there is content to be made with those products. I don't have most of the old TF quads since I only recently got into luxury makeup and would never be annoyed if I saw it listed in the description box and couldn't get my hands on it. I mean, there's always new makeup coming out, oftentimes with the same color story so it's not like people can't get something similar. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing people get rid of products they aren't using but if you truly love a product, why get rid of it? LOL I don't know why it makes me so sad.🥴😂 Anyway, great job on your declutter! Since you're happy with your decisions, that's what matters. It just hurt to see the beautiful Cocoa Mirage go and in the last declutter video, all of the older, better quality Chanel blushes go. 😅🤦🏻♀

Exactly. A video showing iconic, or discontinued quads and current, available dupes for those who still want to get hold of their discontinued favourites shades will always be popular.
I really like the quads with the blues and greens. I’m not much for warm colors. Seeing all those beautiful colors so so fun. Colors are so beautiful And I don’t tire of seeing them. I’m curious what was in that square pink box in the same drawer with the Tom Ford quads? The box looks pretty.

I so enjoy your videos and this one was no exception. Loving makeup has an unfortunate aspect of things can become old and not as effective in time, thus the wisdom of the declutter. Still hard to part with none the less. You did an amazing job! As much as I love makeup, high end especially, my makeup kit is extremely pared down now. Having embraced a minimalist lifestyle by necessity, I literally have one Chanel quad, one Chanel single, and one Laura Mercier single eyeshadow. Every other category has one item. Feels weird and freeing at the same time. Financially, I don’t try something new until the previous item is about to be depleted. I was watching your quads carefully to find the name of a TF pallet of a good neutral brown matte/close to matte pallet that is a staple. My Nordstrom’s in San Diego seems to always be out of all the TF pallets and their testers are just wrecked. You can’t see what the colors are supposed to be. Ordering online doesn’t help as their selection online seems seriously limited these days. If you have a suggestion of one matte/mostly matte neutral quad color to look for, I will search it out to purchase. Keep the awesome videos coming! ❤️

I've told you a while ago, that I was disappointed by the quality when I searched for a new 5 Couleur Couture a few years back, but I watched your reviews and now I'm considering a new one.
The Backstage ones look like Clair's packaging wise, so I would rather get one of the 5 Couleur (although I don't really like that packaging too).
Or would you suggest something else as a staple, everyday mini palette?
Preferably warm toned as I'm a strawberry blonde with olive undertones.
I'm not so fond to pull out my Motherships in the morning and don't really like Pat's newer quads (too similar to my Motherships).
I've looked at my options (local seller in Germany) for a week now and I'm none the wiser what to get, so your expertise will be appreciated. ♥️
I started the practice of dating every piece of makeup that I buy with a sharpie. I have no problems purging when their time is up! We just never know what’s been “growing” on our lipsticks etc that have been sitting in a drawer for quite sometime.

I still have my cognac sable from 10 years ago😂But I’ve retired it into my memory box and holding it only because it was the first MU item I bought when I went to Dubai for our first family holiday🌴☀️(I did try to use it a few weeks ago but the pigments have completely deteriorated and it was like using dust on my eyes🙃)
I rarely wore my Cognac Sable, which is a shame, but I read your comment, tried mine and it was still wore perfectly for the whole day. I even got compliments from my nieces and nephew. I wish TF would bring it back.
