- Join me on this trip reviewing the steam link in 2024. Was valve ahead of their time and people slept on this gem, as usual, or did this fade away for good reason?
Thanks for stopping by. Please consider a like and sub to help me reach 500!

I know it might be counter intuitive but if you hook up your PCs ethernet cable to steam link it practically gives a seamless 1080p experience.
What does your internet speed have to do with it? Surely it’s all on your internal network?
Since the steam link on samsung tvs got removed. YES
Yeah, all of my TVs are Samsung so this is definitely the way to go
@@eday2448 You use your steam link with a steam controller :P I think it's cool
The speed test you ran is for external(internet) speeds and don't have much to do with your internal LAN speeds. Prob just worth restarting your router. Your setup is nice and great internet speed. Nice video! Subbed!
yeah but with Samsung TVs, I had nothing but issues with the streaming, seems like the TVs don't have enough power to handle the decode effectively. A the moment I'm working on getting moonlight working on my old xbox one x and the biggest issue is the fact that my monitor is ultrawide and that makes it impossible to see on the tv.
The hot sauce on the popcorn… you guys are my people.🎉 and yeah for a second I considered pulling back my steam link but it’s way underpowered, I think in only has 512 mbs of ram.
Thays the only way to eat it! The link has a lot of potential imo. If they made one with a bit more power and capabilities, similar to nvidia shield, it could have a second chance.
It's RAM capability is moot. It is merely a device to stream thru to a TV. best if hard wired vs wifi.
Bro clutch PSP charger tip, thank you 🙏🏻
@@Shokkur it's you .. the one other person in the world! Lmao
If your PC is on your lan then the internet connection speed makes no difference.
So even if i have everything connected via ethernet to a switch there’s some latency and input lag ? So like call of duty or cs2 is impossible in this situation ?
From my personal experience, it's all dependant on your connection and provider. I've had poor experiences like I was discussing earlier in the video, but there are times (when this terrible korean provider is actually stable) where it's much smoother.
Again, this is from my experience and I've heard rebuttlements to this, I've had a better experience using another pc like the mini pc I have in the living room, and using it to play my games from my main pc. When steam is launched on multiple systems at once, you can choose which system to host the game on. That method has had better stability for me so far. I'll visit this exact topic hopefully soon and attempt to compare the 2 methods.
That doesn't make sense, how can your internet speed be a factor for traffic within your internal network?
So the way our network is set up here is kinda wack. We have ethernet ports in every room, but they're split by different switches creating "seperate" networks. Even connecting our pcs, they can't detect one another without some real workarounds
Have you tried a cascade configuration for your switches?
Modem to router to switch 1 to switch 2 to switch 3, switches have huge internal bandwidth, enough for every device running at full blast inside, only throttle would be intra switch communications, at 1gigabit, but you can get 2.5 and 10gigabit ethernet capable switches (two such ports plus a number of gigabit ports would eliminate intraswitch bottleneck)
That should also eliminate the fractioning of your network into a bunch of headache inducing subnetworks
Those Genesis games didn't even jiggle when the bookshelf was bumped
I have a small ball of putty on the back of each of them thats smashed to the shelf behind them for that exact reason!
@@RawTactics1 lol, nice. I might actually do something like that now
@@tomenza I'd recommend it for sure. It's saved my stuff several times lol. It's super cheap on Amazon too
That last part, when is that video?
Tbh I kinda forgot about it lol. This video sat with nearly no views and exploded recently. I WILL get on that very soon. Thanks for reminding me, and for simply checking out the video!
@@RawTactics1 your video was straight to the point and so much more in so little time. Great and awesome, I appreciate that. FYI, I will watch a 12 til 20 minutes
@@spacenoob404 dang, thank you. That kinda feedback is greatly appreciated, especially right now. Thank you again!
the video is live
not 100% but i am sure the steam link only uses your ethernet not the internet so your speeds shouldn't affect it
That internet speed crazy 😂
I tried to prove a point here but it came back to bite me lol. The speed has been crazy fast but so unstable I can't even stream. Been trying to get it fixed for over a week, looks like I'm switching providers now 🤷♂️
Just shows how even with the best internet, there is too much latency for gaming over the internet. :P
Why people is impressed about de hot souce on the popcorn, isn't that normal on all countries?
I would like to use it for something else than gaming
You're paying for 2gb internet, which has to be expensive af, yet you're only getting 150mb? Yeah I'd be raising hell, these internet companies are getting blatant with ripping us off. I never get the speeds I'm paying for.
Did she put Franks on her popcorn?
@@slakjawnotsayin5451 heavens no. That was Louisiana hot sauce lol
@@RawTactics1 I've never heard of anyone putting either on popcorn. That's crazy. LOL
@slakjawnotsayin5451 if you're a hot sauce enjoyer, I recommend tapatio but to each his own. Give it a shot 🤷♂️
@@slakjawnotsayin5451 if you're interested, I also just release the follow up video referenced at the end of this video
Hot sauce on popcorn is just... woah. 😮😮
the only way we eat it lol
I've been using the new Walmart Onn. 4K Pro as my Steam Link device via ethernet and it has been snappy for playing games in my living room from my Steam library on my bedroom PC. I don't notice input lag or frame rate stutters. The Onn. 4K Pro is only $50 and it's fantastic for streaming movies and TV too. Way better than the current Chromecast. A great deal.
The only catch is that it doesn't work great for games that require a mouse like point and click adventures. Controller based games work great.
For anyone who gets the Onn. 4K Pro, I recommend using the Projectivy launcher to get rid of ads. I use the free version of Projectivy. The paid version of Projectivy is not necessary.
@@dtape awesome insight!
