Why did you caps lock "THEY MESSED UP"? Why didn't you caps lock "A REALLY SOLID OFFERING FROM MIZUNO", which was your final conclusion? Click baiting?
Your point about the feel on mishits. I have the 921 Forged and sometimes a slight toe strike or high/low strike will really sting, immediately making me think I hit a poor shot, but I still get a very solid launch and almost completely normal carry distance. I’ve never really experienced that to the same degree with another iron. Interesting you say the same for the Tour
I just demoed the 923 Forged and Tour. Wow, those things are both amazing! I think if I went Tour, I’d have to get over the fact that the lofts are almost 4 degrees weaker than the players distance clubs. Not a huge deal but a mental hurdle for me. I may take the leap now that my ball striking has gotten better.
Ordered the 921’s last year in September but they didn’t have my shafts I was fitted into. So I’ve been upgraded to the 923’s for the long wait. Hoping I get them soon! Lol I’m in Canada
Great review. Any chance to compare the 921 tour to the 923 tour? Is the added bounce, and copper underlay worth the money? The 921s are $500 cheaper as I type this.
This is tough, because it’s really a player by player question. I think the copper underlay on good strikes is a nice touch, but is it worth $500? Only you can decide that. With regards to bounce, I personally prefer lower bounce so in that aspect I’d go 921; But for someone who needs a touch more bounce, the 923 Tour’s could be a great upgrade. Imo your best bet is to test them side by side and then make a decision.
I think you did a very thorough review especially including the ground interaction which next to No One covers. I don't like offset either but I do like to feel it when I miss hit it. That being said I'm coming from Blades so maybe that's why I prefer it
Appreciate the support Mark! More offset isn't necessarily good or bad, it just depends on how it matches up to your swing! Which blades have you been playing?
@@TheEquipmentJunkie original blueprints. Very good off of hard pan firm Fairways. No forgiveness on less than perfect strikes. My current swing flaw is a dramatic left to right tail at the end. I'm assuming because of the almost 10g tip weights. Those particular heads are roughly a club lighter than normal
Another thing to note regarding turf interaction, Mizunos are a touch flatter on the lie. If you raise the handle at impact, you might want to have the set bent upright a degree so the toe doesn't dig.
Very nice honest review. We have very similar swings and skill levels. I currently play the Ping iblades and the increased offset in the longer irons are my pet gripe. Yours is with the increased offset in the longer irons. I have never minded this and actually prefer mild offset in all my irons including the short irons. I played well with the Lynx Parallax David Boone original design in softer carbon steel revision 1999 - 2000 revision and got used to the offset very much. These irons just tick all the boxes for me, however being a bit old school purist I love a set that includes the 2 and 3 iron which is rare these days. Thats why as a collector I just had to have a set of the Ping Blueprints 2 -PW and they are awesome in the standard spec. I never thought Id be so captivated by the Mizuno brand. They have always had a reputaion as a very difficult blade manufacturer to hit. These irons have resolved that issue for me so what I'll do is keep the 2 and 3 iron in the Blueprints and have a full set 4 through gap wedge of the 923 Tour irons. Shaft is important so for me a smooth easy hitting shaft has to be the KBS $ - Taper stiff for me and I will get the 54 degree and 60 degree J23 COBALT copper finish wedges in same shaft to round out a nice balanced set. The Mizuno Driver and three wood I have yet to test as I have always been a Callaway wood player. But am keen to give the Mizuno a whirl. I want to play very much within my own abilities and this offering from Mizuno is very very appealing now.
That may be true, but also potentially not. It’s all relative to how a company actually measures bounce. Some companies publish measured and some effective bounce, plus they likely measure the bounce number itself differently company to company. Also, sole characteristics such a width and camber/roll play a large role as well.
@@TheEquipmentJunkie yes forsure all of that plays a roll sole design etc. the bounce is measured the same tho. And it has less. I found it to play similar to the p7mc which has more bounce but less caber and thinner overall sole. I would have liked to see less offset as well.
Yes, I agree they look closer to the 919’s than the 921’s. I was just saying they are relatively similar to the 921’s, just in terms of shaping, finish, etc. 👍

About to get fit for some 923 Tours this week! I've got the club head speed, so I don't need the delofting of distance irons. Couldn't be more stoked

Love it! OG Blueprints are awesome and I’m excited to test the new S & T models here soon 🙌

Offset is there to promote higher shot trajectory, which is something Tour pros requested.
Always a great review
Thanks for the love Leroy!
Great information and review
Thanks much John!

This isn't a review. It's a long talk about them
Great review!
Thanks much Brent!
Keep In Mind they still have less bounce than any other brand in this category. Less than p7mc 620cb apex tcb the pings etc etc

@@TheEquipmentJunkie very nice accurate review. 👍
@@jwild5360 All totally makes sense, P7MC is another fantastic release this year. Really appreciate the kind words!
They look more like the 919 series. I love the look of my 921's. I would like the added bounce they added.

The 923 tour are a players iron
My 921s look better
