  • 3 days of extremely wet then windy wild camping in the hills of the western Brecon Beacons. Stunning views were the reward for enduring heavy rain and poor visibility; a brilliant trip!

I don’t care what anyone says, the lanshan 2 for me is one of the best tents going. You can keep your hillybergs and what not I love mine, the shape, the space and the brown colour are just fab, will look like part of any landscape. Good vid, who cares about the weather, it’s about getting out and doing it 👌

I couldn't agree more Steve; a cracking good tent, and amazing value for money compared to the alternatives. Especially with the amount of interior space & headroom. I've just got back from 2 nights in winter conditions on Dartmoor and the tent was absolutely great! Why pay more? ;-)

@@longsufferinghiker exactly why pay £500+ when you can have a tent like the lanshan 👌 defo gonna have to look into some of your mods for mine as well, I already do the door one and the top pull out. I’ll look into getting me some little poles and maybe the internal mods 👍

Those challenging conditions turning out with that wonderful sky and the drama in the clouds. What a reward. Lovely part of the world and often incredibly peaceful as well.

Yes, a great example of the rewards you can get from braving the conditions and getting out into the hills regardless!

I enjoyed your video -The landscape was just amazing. I hope you continue to bring us along on your adventures. By the way, your Lansham was beautifully pitched!

      Thanks! :-)
And I especially appreciate your recognition of a well pitched tent; I always try to get rid of any creases, as I just hate the noise of them flapping in the wind!

Blimey that was a wet hike, now I remembered you when you mentioned the CWT as I watched your videos on that .
I recognised the area as camped outside Glytawe with my Son in law in the CW.
    Thanks, an interesting hike.
    Cheers 🍻

Thanks! Yes, the waterproofs got a good work-out again, but it wasn't as sustained as on the CWT, and it paid off when the glorious views emerged.

Just stumbled across this video. A very enjoyable watch and I have walked a little in the Carmarthen Fans & recognised some spots but there looked lots unfamilar to me. Have you got a route mape of your trip? Looks like you started at Tafarn y Garreg? Was curious as to what you were recording your audio with as I know how windy it can be up there and considering this I would say the sound was very good. Listening to the trails you mentioned during the video you are obviously a very experienced walker & for a 3 night hike your were well eqipped - what was your carrying weight for the start of the trip, do you know? I watch a fair few walking/hiking videos and looking at the number of subs you have I am surprised you have very little - you present a lot better than many I watch for sure. atb Alan

Thanks Alan; I really appreciate the positive comments. So far, I've been slowly building up a collection of videos mostly as a personal record, rather than trying to accumulate subscribers. I haven't published a route map because I prefer not to publicise the wild camping spots ;-) but you're right; I started at Tafarn y Garreg which is a good place to leave the car, if I can resist the pub!
It was all recorded on my iPhone 12 mini, but managing the wind noise is a bugbear, so I was pleased that most of the footage was usable if I had managed to face the microphone away from the wind. Of course keeping the phone dry was a challenge, especially because I was also using it for navigation (I had a map with me too, naturally).
As for the equipment, my 'dry' weight is around 8.7kg, similar to the set up I used for the Cape Wrath Trail. The specific items are detailed here: lighterpack.com/r/brviub
I've checked out your channel too; very good work!!
