I kinda love how Sadako’s so picky about coming out of a CRT TV rather than a phone or computer screen.
I’m just envisioning Sadako showing up to kill someone, but she sees they’re watching the video on a laptop, and she’s like “Dammit!” and just leaves.
Kinda wondering now in she can only do it that way because she fits in the back of it. . My neighbor still has one maybe all is not lost
I figured it was The Santa Clause rules, where she can blorp through like a squid.
If the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror can air in November, it's more than okay for Linkara to finish Ashock the Fourth Wall in November 😂
For what is November but Halloween Part 2? xD
@@muigokublack6487 Electric Booglaloo?
Only difference is MLB isn't dominating from October. Just a lot of projects and not a lot of time to get them done through October. Also we're still here and the entire universe wasn't destroyed by Kang and Kodos so that's a plus. 😁
Halloween never ends!
@@BaronSengir1008 To quote a certain skullheaded individual: "A dash of orange adds a little Halloween to your day everyday!'
just throwing this out there for the anyone wondering about the "-Chan" and"-San" bit
both of these are honorific's that are used for different age groups.
"-San" is used primarily for older people, the western equivalent would me calling someone "Mr./Mrs." usually used respectfully
"-chan" is an honorific that's used as a term of endearment or even for pet names, this is why Linkara was right to call Sadako-chan "Sada" it still fits with the naming scheme the manga is going for
Honestly this is one of the funniest AT4W episodes in ages. Not sure if its the subject material being great joke fodder, but several times I had to pause to chuckle. Thanks I needed this after a stressful day
I can't wait for Sadako's apology video
With her playing a ukulele. Very important.
@@DGilVids"I've never murdered anyone, except for this sick beat."
"Did you know your chest is so big you can't fit through TVs?"
This made me laugh, mostly because a couple days ago I saw a pic of Sadako getting stuck halfway out on her posterior. XD
I do like the less horror specific comics that allow Sadako to just...be. She is after all a threat that you tend to feel bad for even as you fear for your life. It is nice to see her get to enjoy things that she never got to in life due to people being cruel.
Sadako-Chan: Good news, Sadako. We just got our first actual sponsorship. Some game company by the name of Activision Blizzard wants us to play this weird new game called Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
Sadoko-San: What the heck is a Call of Duty?
Sadako-Chan: I don't know. I think it's some kind of shooter game.
Sadako-San: But... I don't know how to play video games, let alone one a shooter one. Tell this Activision Blizzard company to not call us anymore or else I'll curse them all.
Sadako-Chan: Ok, but they were prepared to pay us this much money.
*Sadako-Chan shows Sadako-San a cheque. Sadako-San nearly faints*
Sadoko-San: Ok, maybe just one game.
*8 Hours Later*
Sadako-San: Ha ha, get wrecked, nerds! Taste the ultimate wrath of my Tactical Nuke! I am become death, the curse ghost of Terminal!
A wholesome story about a murderous ghost finding new life in a creative career and found family is a delightful way to transition out of the Halloween season and into the holiday season
A cat curiously checking out a robot wasn't what I was expecting from this video, but I'm not complaining 😊
I would laugh so hard if AT4W!Sadako shows up in like April of next year and reveals she intended to haunt Linkara this past October, but she got so wrapped up in her new Vtuber career she forgot.
I'd argue that Mirror!Gunghost is AT4W!Sadako, and I doubt she'd want to make a vtuber sona...
Your reviews have meant a lot to me over the years. From learning about comics and comic book history, to being able to celebrate the good, the bad, and the absurd, to appreciating things that I didn't before, or come to love them more... from being able to better appreciate horror with Moarte and the halloween videos, to retrospectives and origins and anniversaries, to admiring how you blend review and story and humor and even ethics...
It's been formative to me as a creative, and it makes me happy to watch how much you and your content has grown over the years, while I myself grew up with them. Happy anniversary, Mr. Lovhaug, and here's to many more!
10:47 Now I'm imagining Kiryu Kazuma helping them as a Yakuza substory and it still wouldn't the strangest thing to have happened to him.
Nah, it's Kazuma Satou. This is a world in which he didn't get isekaied, so now he's older and never stopped being a hikikomori.
Pretty sure that already happened.
For Kiryu~Chaaaaaaaan, this is tuesday
Yeah that’s just one in Kiwami 2
he has multiple substories involving ghost girls actually.
All throughout the segment where the little girl is explaining the idea of being a UA-camr, I have this image in my head of a slightly modified version of the, "Money can be exchanged for goods and services," bit from the Simpsons:
"A UA-cam account? Oh, I wanted to curse people."
_A UA-cam account can be used to curse_ many _people._
"Explain."
_UA-cam accounts can generate new victims and views._
Sadako: WOOHOO!!!
As a Critical Role fan the thought of Travis having to sit next to even just Sadako's actress in her full costume as a guest player is hilarious.
Mans would scream the entire session
He’s having enough trouble just sat next to Marisha as Laudna
@@altejoh
I just imagine the going on like normal only with Travis screaming in fear the entire session. Everyone just plays around him. XD
Sam would have a field day with it.
Oh, hey! Thank you for the shout out!
No problem at all! Keep up the great work!
Your work means the world to me, man. Thank you for all your effort and care.
Congrats on 15 years, and here's to the next 15.
You've got a guaranteed viewer right here.
I swear the side story of linkara not being on schedule and trying to get on schedule is great
Now this is the true anniversary special we all needed but secretly didn't want to say
Apparently, the mangaka who wrote and drew this comic said in an interview that she was hired to do a tie-in webtoon series for the movie, but she can't draw horror, so she decided to make a comedy instead.
The comic strip Erma is a really fascinating twist on the sadako archetype.
(A horror writer is married to one and they have a child. That’s all I’m gonna say about it.)
The ending of this video is rather appropriate, because around this time last year I went through an incredibly painful breakup, and at the same time I found this channel, so I really did spend weeks catching up on all your videos as I processed my grief, and while I started with some superhero stuff, the Ring reviews were some of the first I watched. I could not be more grateful to have spent this last year watching your reviews while I rearrange my life.
Your videos definitely helped me thru the past few years where I’ve lost half of my vision from massive strokes I’ve suffered…my life has been changed drastically and I’m house bounded and handicapped…If not for marathons of your excellent content, I don’t how I would have kept going…Thanks from a fan that appreciates the 4TH WALL
I’m just glad Sadako stop partying with Granny Goodness those two were a handful
Surprisingly this isn't the kinkiest thing Skeletor has done
"Every time you sleep with your married partner, you have sex with a family member."
"UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!!!" *runs away*
Ah yes, I remember the Stormy Daniels videos.
I don’t know if I brought this up, but the Camp Counselor Jason comic exists online. It’s a wholesome comic that asks: what if Jason got to grow up into a most beloved member of the Camp Crystal Lake staff?
This...this feels like the TRUE 15th anniversary video.
Thanks, Lewis. I'm glad I found you when I did. :)
There is of course also the Erma web comic which imagines her as a mute ghost girl who goes to school and has adventures.
15 years and you still got it Linkara, always enjoy your videos.
"Ooo. A piece of candy!" I love finding a post Halloween video from Linkara.
I was going to put this on the anniversary episode but your joy and reflection at the end of this makes it more applicable here:
Congratulations on 15 and thank you for all of it Lewis
I've been watching since middle school, a patron since undergrad, and am now at the end of grad school.
Your snark and enthusiasm has always brought a smile to my face and has encouraged me to engage with my favorite media both more lovingly and more critically in the best way possible.
Cheers to 15 more!
23:46 okay but the slit mouth woman's channel is adorable, she goes to restaurants and eats burgers as big as her head while trying to scare her human fiancé only to have the tables turned. Her sewing videos are also interesting, though I'm not sure how many people can get use out of "how to sew your cheeks together"
(if anyone knows the manga I'm referencing, have a cookie)
Her sewing videos are surprisingly popular in Scotland.
@@TheLyokoWarriors I feel like there's a joke or context I'm missing for that one.
@@kylepeters8690I was referencing the Glasgow smile. It is a wound caused by cutting someone from the edge of their mouth to their ear and then punching or kicking them to cause them to scream, causing further damage. The scar left makes it look like the person is smiling (think The Dark Knight's Joker or, well, the kuchisake-onna). It is believed to have originated in Glasgow, Scotland in the 1920s/30s.
@@TheLyokoWarriors gods damn! I've never heard of that before
Now I'm interested in what this manga is
If it helps Linkara, I watch you WAY more often than those others comic channels 🤗
EDIT: also, you actually have more subscribers than Comic Pop at the time I’m writing this
Hi Lewis, you're probably never going to read this, but your conclusion pushes me to write this.
I've been watching your videos for... Well, 15 years now. In fact, I've seen your announcement about you starting your comic reviews back on the Superdickery forums (remember the Casstoons ? I do, and now, with age taking its toll, I cringe when I think about it...). I haven't actually watched your first videos, but I got very quickly into them, and I'm still watching them.
At that point, after all this time, you're still one of the very few content creators I keep following since I started watching UA-cam videos.
Over time, I graduated, started working, had to move a few times, went through ups and downs (mostly downs unfortunately), became an uncle multiple times, and yet I keep watching your stuff. Every week, I log on your channel to watch what's new.
You're an integral part of my Internet culture, and I've always enjoyed your videos and how involved you are in your work. I don't know about other viewers, but as for me, I recognize and salute all the time and efforts you put in your videos.
I'm the last person who should give you this advice considering my own anxiety when it comes to work and the pretty serious consequences it has on my well-being, but I really hope you manage to find a balance between your work and your personal life. Nobody wants you to burn out about all this. Stay healthy, my friend.
Greetings from France
Purplefish
I won’t lie I really enjoyed the digression/joke regarding Linkara’s supporting cast, capped with the very funny “Shut up Astro Megaship!” Line.
Been awhile since we got a previously on
Old video and idk if you'll see this, but I've been watching you since middle school. Started when you did the _old_ Superman crossover with Doug, way back in the TGWTG days. You got me into comic books. I can't even point to one specific horrific moment you helped me through, it's so much broader than that. Like... my childhood was horrific. Statistically, someone like me not being dead by my own hand by now is a goddamn miracle. You don't get many transfem 15+ years of CSA survivors who are too close to 30 for comfort. So, thank you. You, Hagan, Nash, and a few others who aren't tied into that really kept me going so much through some of the worst possible things that can happen to a person.
Nothing much I can say to that other than thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you're still alive.
The Double Sadako channel really blew up when Sadako started doing those NPC live streams
Also I would point out that Sadako trying to mother the little girl could easily fall under her desire to have a child...and this one isn't even a clone!
Linara, ive watched you for 14 years now. For the last few years, ive been in a very, very rough part of my life and as I type this im in a very dark place
Thank you for adding a little light to my dark times
Congrats on another great spooky season of content, and on another three years of looking at a horror franchise. Really enjoyed it and loved your summation of content creation at the end.
26:46 Ironically, it wasn't for anything racist... sort of... she just said all masked slashers were the same and pissed off Jason on his UA-cam channel.
Speaking of sexy Sadako art... I just realized that we still don't have a Bishoujo statue of Sadako from Kotobukiya's Horror Icons line.
Seriously, we have statues of Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Michael Myers, Beetlejuice, Chucky, Tiffany, Edward Scissorhands and friggin' Pinhead as sexy anime waifus... but not the cute ghost girl from a Japanese franchise.
I dunno, maybe it's the fact that she has her face covered in hair so Shun'ya Yamashita can't draw her with his traditional "cute face"? I'm sure he could find a way to do it.
9:07&26:02 Ngl Best Part's Of The VideoWWWW”
Ooh a look at Remembrance of the Daleks to start your DW 60th anniversary celebration? This is gonna be fun. Especially timely given what just recently went down in that Tales from the TARDIS thing and two particular characters that appeared there.
To be fair, that one was for a different story.
I feel like you had a lot of fun writing/making this episode.
I really did. =)
That's a different "Previously On" segment.
Like, Comment, and *S u r v i v e*!
-Danny Sexbang from Game Grumps
One of my favorite things internet has done to Sadako is making cute fanart of her hanging out with Jason Voorhees, it's just so sweet to watch these two people who were abused find friendship later on in life.
It is adorable seeing your cats cuddle up with Pollo. ^_^
9:06 Good Gosh Lewis don't overwork yourself!
19:21 That or you get a new audience of younger people wanting to dip their toes in horror in a digestible format.
Think those SCP animated videos.
17:04
Wow, how did you predict Yahtzee splitting from The Escapist?
On the subject of "parody" and "wholesome stories where mosnters hang out", it is inportant to mention the web comic ERMA
Though not a Sadako/Samara story, its very obbiase that the character is directly inspired by the ring girl.
Just goes to show the "meme" status and popularity that this character and franchise has gained over time, reaching a status almost on the level of classic monsters like Dracula and Frankenstine, where its concept and imagery inspires and gives birth to compleatly new and enduring creations
"So you can defeat a ghost by being an asshole to them" most haunted house customers seem to think that's how it works
i think that just makes them more likely to want to kill you, and I assume that goes for the ghosts too
To get Sadako's feelings in one go: *TFS Vegeta Voice* "Is that me!? Me, STRONGER THAN ME?! I'LL KILL ME!"
As someone who rewatched your entire catalog this year, I can say with sincerity thaat you are one of my favorite creators. Your incredible wit and brilliant mind are on full display, weaving webs of intrigue and horror while at the same time making me laugh my ass of at either the absurdity or whatever snark you manage to come up with. While you may beat yourself up over your schedule slipage, the fact remains that every episode is well worth the wait, given the sheer amount of care that goes into your craft. And the depth of detail your breakdowns go into have even gotten me to spend more time analyzing the other media I partake in, letting me see beyond the surface level. So, as a long time fourther, I just want to say: Thank you Lewis. And keep doing what you love. I'll be here to watch.
9:07 Aka Lewis burning himself out by releasing three episodes of AT4W, all episodes of LOTD, and an episode of MDF to get back on schedule before October ends or November starts and before he completes his Contest of Champions storyline after SIX YEARS.
28:23 *raises hand* I care about what Astro Megaship thinks
Same here.
21:22 ok, so I joked about ringu crossing over with inuyasha in sadako at the end of the world, but now they're just setting me up for a joke about sadako-san and sadako-chan having kon from bleach as a guest in one of their videos.
appreciate the pop arena shoutout, nick knacks is great
I'm Just thankful that:
1. We Don't have to deal with the Return of Mirror Margaret this year
&
2. Linkara's still going to wear his current uniform[especially with that Cool Dark Brown Sports Coat with the AT4W Pin on it]
9:07 wow Lewis, no need to jab yourself that hard!
0:00 - 0:41 It’s nice of you to do a “Previously On” segment for this, even though it’s been a while since the Exiles Retrospective and that modern viewers won’t understand it (unless they’ve seen all episodes or your show) or find it irrelevant.
12:12 Unless you’re Comic Drake, ComicPop, Comic Book University, Comic Boom!, Comics Matter With Ya Boi Zack, Comicstorian, ComicIsland, Comics Explained, Weird Science Comics, Nerdette’s Newstand, Thinking Critical, Linkara of AT4W, Casually Comics, Comic Breakdown, Tevya Smolka, Caped Joel, Fortress of Solitude, Dopespill Comics, or every other comic book UA-camr out there.
Can't wait for Sadako's apology video
This reminds me of the webcomic Erma. Where a parody of Sadako has a daughter with an average joe, and the daughter goes on cute creepy hijinks.
9:06 to 9:20- Story of your life.
I'm disappointed that this manga didn't make one reference to iCarly.
Hey, I _would_ watch a 3 hour video on the history of IKEA Furniture Design; I recently watched a five hour video on EvE Online.
This manga review actually sums up about UA-cam nowadays. Take a look at Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, Pewdiepie, Smosh, Cinemassacre, and all the other channels and users on UA-cam. Despite all the obstacles that they went through in the past, they can still make people laugh. Speaking of that, who else is still waiting for the actual crossover review of Linkara and AVGN?
Was that opening just all the jokes you realized you could have used for these reviews but forgot to?
...Maybe.
It’s also an opening for a “Previously On” segment.
"If it's a choice between Law & Order reruns and someone reviewing every single thing on Nickelodeon..."
Honestly? As much as I like early Nick, OG Law & Order is one my default rerun choices (alongside Forged in Fire, The A-Team, JAG, and game shows), that I would probably choose Law & Order.
Well that was heartwarming, both the antics and your speech at the end.
Here's hoping Remembrance of the Daleks doesn't kick your ass the way Logopolis did. We don't need the BBC trying to claim that they own you again.
3:16 Kind of sounds like the plot of one of those SD (chibi) parody spinoffs like Isekai Quartet, which is actually a crossover between four SD parody spinoffs (and a few other Kadokawa isekai LN anime adaptations that didn't get SD spinoffs like Shield Hero and Cautious Hero)
(I'm holding out hope for a cameo featuring Animal Mask and his dog Hiroyuki from Kemono Michi: Rise Up myself. I'm willing to bet Naofumi would have issues with him, comparing Animal Mask's affections toward Raphtilia and Filo to Motoyasu even though Motoyasu prefers Filo's human form while Animal Mask would prefer her bird form and Motoyasu is lustful while Animal Mask is just affectionate)
Yay we get spoiled with an Ashock opening in November!
After this manga I eagerly await Sadako vs Miku.
24:55 So you really wanted to show off your Dragon Ball not just to any visitors, but to every one on the internet? That's a good way of doing it, but it definitely got ya killed. Thank God comic logic dictates that you come back to life after awhile. It's just that you didn't come back as a Namekian again and just want to show off your comic book collection instead of your Dragon Ball.
Welcome to Ashock the Fourth Wall... Belated Edition.
Have you ever considered checking out Power Rangers shattered grid all the other Power Ranger event comics I think that would be awesome
16:33 Well, as long as you don't go preaching to the choir about your fad vegan diet; we wouldnt want another Vegangains fiasco, righr?
This kind of points out the glaring flaw of transitioning Sadako from vhs to regular UA-cam instead of like a hidden video you have to find or a ritual you have to do. She's not this all powerful revenge goddess, she's just one being with a finite pool of energy and a popular UA-cam video gets a lot of views in the first day alone.
I honestly do kind of believe that Sadako could work as a deep web cursed video or a ritual UA-cam arg thing if modern film makers would go the extra mile.
11:52 So the official UA-cam channels? (aside from the spending money part) I'm still not convinced anyone at Creator Insider actually knows how the algorithm works when they tend to struggle to make two digit columns off their sub count in views as opposed to the usual one digit columns off the sub count in views most people make.
This seems like the perfect opportunity to compliment you on your hard work, Linkara. As you mention frequently, the last years have seen heavy schedule slips. Yet your quality is still assured, and even improved. I live in the Netherlands and never gave much thought to superhero stories before I found your channel. You made a profound impact on my life, to say nothing of the lives of untold others.
Like you were saying in the closing credits, I don't have a problem with long videos either. Just if I have too many of them to watch, which has happened before, or posted late, as was the case with this one, I normally use them for background while I do my nightly gaming session. And speaking of which, thank you for this. Between this video, and the game I'm currently playing, lots of laughs to be had tonight. Really enjoyed it.
Good ol' Comic Drake!
Eh. Korone threatens to break her viewers necks if they watch other V-Tubers.
*The following is the opinion of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!*
[EARL the SPOOKY SEAGULL:] "So nice of Linkara to bring back the Previously On segment gag! Also nice to see one of Linkara's cats is fond of Poyo!"
Like I said in the last Ring review after everything Sadako has gone through, she deserves to be happy, and here we are, her happy, finding connections, and no longer hurting people either intentionally or unintentionally. People don't have to be afraid of her and she in turn no longer has to be scared and alone.
Many both in and out of universe see her physic powers as a curse, not just to others, but to Sadako herself, and really anyone in the franchise who has powers. People's fear of these powers leads to her own mother's death and then her own death and subsequent suffering to enterally curse people, even those who don't deserve it. She and everyone else were trapped in this curse and fear, but here we have Sadako, no longer trapped by her curse or fear, and both she, those she's close to, and the rest of the world can now rest easily, be happy, move on, and build a better tomorrow. And like I said, Sadako deserves to be happy and here she finally is.
I've never been a big fan of horror, in fact, it's my least favorite kind of genra, while I do like seeing bad people get their comeuppance, at my core, I'm an optomise who just wants people to be happy and not cause trouble for anyone, horror is kind of the opposite of that, as many times its pain and suffering, sometimes caused by a monster who doesn't see or understand the power of kindness and happiness, but here, we have a horror themed character, one of the most popular ones, being nice, growing, and finding true happiness, and now being able to build a better tomorrow for herself and others, and there is something truly special and powerful in that. Thank you for sharing this story with us Linkara, and many other great stories and entertainment. We may not have gotten a storyline this Halloween, but we got some great stories and reviews, and we got to see 90s Kid and Poyo and I'm always happy to see the other members of your cast. :)
Pollo getting a new body, eh? Suppose it's been long enough to finally bring a new era for him. Though I'll miss this look, just like his original one it's been a sight I've been used to for many years.
Also, Pollo facing the Cat as they sniff him! EEE!!! :D
Vey happy you opened this with the Scary Movie 3 scene 😂
So, it's kinda tradition now that linkara changes his look up every 5 years; is that going to happen this year?
I assume the Halloween, 7th doctor and Christmas ourfits will end out the year but, here's hoping
Linkara is not going to change his look this year (aside from the Halloween, Seventh Doctor, and Christmas outfits), which is fine and understandable.
28:22 I CARE! GIVE HIM MORE DIALOGUE!!!!!
9:17 Poor Linkara
I’ve missed the previously on segments
This ring manga is to adorable and wholesome.
Aww, your kitty wanted to read the Manga with you!!!
As someone who has stumbled across some of those Sadako fan arts I usually groan in frustration/disgust at the idea of taking a tragic character and putting her in those scenarios, but that's just me and I'm sure other people might feel differently, so I won't judge those people
I await sadakos crossover with M3gan and their sick dance moves.
Sada is like the little sister Sadako never had.
4:35 : even kitty likes this comic!
