Hello Captain Kangaroo.. it was nice seeing you again.. oh, how long ago that was when I sat in front of the tv, watching you.. the years have not been kind.. I'm 53 now.. I'd like to say when I was 5 years old, I was happy.. but I'd be lying.. but sitting in front of the tv, watching you made me smile, if only for a few minutes.. especially when those ping pong balls fell on you.. I would laugh.. probably the only time during the day I would do that.. Thank you for letting me sit a few minutes, and watch you again... may you rest in peace. 💝
Captain Kangaroo a major part of my early childhood of the 70’s. I miss those days our world has changed so much and I wish we had shows like Captain Kangaroo, Howdy Dowdy, Zoom, Electric Company, & CBS Children’s Theater.
I loved this show. Life was so much simpler and innocent back then..kids actually played outside with each other, getting fresh air and lots of exercise every single day..parents were more interactive with their kids instead of everyone staring at a phone/computer screen much of the day. It was a wonderful era.
When I started watching this show, it was still in black and white and then a few years later it went to color. Mr Green Jeans, Mr. Moose, Mr. Bunny Rabbit, Grandfather Clock and Dancing Bear were all part of some of my best memories. What a cast! ❤
I remember it being very entertaining, as well as educational. I don't remember the question the teacher asked, but I do remember being the only student in the class that got it right, and I thought to myself... What?! doesn't anyone else in this class watch Captain Kangaroo ?? Because the Captain gave us all the answer, barely an hour ago !
As a latch key kid the Captain was like my kindly grandfather who was there just for me. He spoke to me like I was a person just like him. He was my friend and I loved him very much. Watching this gave me such joy even now as a senior.
I watched this show everyday while the rest of my brothers and sisters went to school! They should make a blu ray or dvd of this show I would buy it and so would alot of other people
Wow! what good memories. I wish the Captian was still around for today's children. He was so great to the children! Him and Mister Rogers are what is missing from children programing today if it exists.
OMG. If you are like me, just hearing that theme song caused an immediate emotional reaction. Could be that I'm getting old or that it's been literally a half century since I've heard this. Also, likely the last time CBS was #1 in the morning.
My mom told me she use to be so excited to watch this on the weekends with her siblings on one of the 3 channels they got back in the 60s. It’s 2021 in the middle of a global pandemic and I’m watching this with my 2 year old daughter, I’m so beyond thankful for this thank you UA-cam 🙏🏽
The simplicity of those times we had growing up. The shows we had and the memories of eating a bowl of cereal and being lazy for a day. Why did we have to keep saying we couldn't wait to grow up? Now we wish we could go back to those simple fun times!
As a little girl I watched this show and another one called Uncle Paul. This was the erra of when children shows were really kid shows. What wonderful memories.
I'm 56 years old and used to watch Captain Kangaroo every morning when I was 5 years old and older. It came on one of the three channels we received in our mobile home, over the air. I loved it!! Y
There is an episode from 1968 where Mr Green Jeans shows the Captain his new watch that can open and close doors - a smart watch. :-) I loved this show!
My favorite Captain Kangaroo episode was the one they would show on Thanksgiving morning. They showed the balloons being inflated for the Macy's Day parade. 40 years later when I was living in NYC I went to see the balloon inflation one Thanksgiving eve. Being from the Philadelphia area Capt. Kangaroo was always second fiddle to our own beloved Captain Noah. Capt. Noah was the #1 show for years beating even the Today show at times and of course easily beating Capt. Kangaroo. Thanks for posting.
This show brings back so many Happy memories for me. Captain Kangaroo was such a kind man who didn't talk down to Children, and made them feel Special. Such a happier time Back in the 1960s and 1970s.♥️♥️
I grew up watching this show! I came back to sneak a peek at what i grew up watching to see if it brought back memories. I ended up watching the whole show...it was actually really good! Beats the pants off the insane kids shows they put out these days!
My eyes are filled with tears remembering how wonderful and heartwarming those times were I’m so happy I had them, thanks so much for this wonderful heartwarming post 🥰
I remember watching Captain Kangaroo, Rusty nails and the Banana splits,. My morning routine a glass of Nestles Quick laying on the floor with my favorite pillow... Great memories as a kid
I started off in afternoon kindergarten, so I still got to watch the Captain at first. Halfway through the year, we moved. At my new school, I was in morning kindergarten. That first day, my mom got my me ready for school. My little brother sat on Granny's lap watching Captain Kangaroo. I cried like a baby.
Thanks much! 👍🏻 watched this with my 10 year daughter today and we had a great time! Man I LOVED this as a kid in the 70's. So much happiness in this show!

The ping balls got me laughing both times & I learned some facts about Nigeria falls. Can’t spell lol

@@WEPDRabbitEarsTV Thank you for uploading. My girls are 7 and 9. I'm going to introduce them to it. They may be too old now, but they might still like it.
I loved Captain Kangaroo. Best memories were starting the day with him. The segment of The Captain in a boat with a tiger was filmed at Marine World, Africa USA in Redwood City CA before it moved to Vallejo and became Six Flags.
The history guy had a 15 min video of the life of Captain Kangaroo. Look for videos, found this and the second the theme song was played, I remember my childhood and now realize how much I miss my young self.
An incredible show that needs to be on Blu-Ray BADLY. 😄The ping pong balls never get old. I'll take THAT...over getting slimed or watered anyday...less messy. I picture Bob Keeshan bringing joy & laughter to Eternity, just by being there, so NO more hard work Sir. You've more than earned it😇.

I used to watch the Captain on PBS in the late 80's. I can't even remember how old I was. Loved the ping pong balls and Bunny Rabbit. I thought he was so cute.
I loved this show!!! used to watch it every day. It was a peceful time in my life or so it it seemed. Infact, people of the kidnapped people were struggling to exist in the country. I remeber being so happy watching The captain, bunny and Mr. moose. Who ever coined the phrase "ignorance is bliss"
Watching from Scotland because my American friend wrote a very informative post about the history of this show. Her friends remember it lovingly. The lovely intro music was also used on a radio or TV show, here. I hope to remember which one. I'm 70 something. 😁
Great to see "The Captain" again! WOW! I grew up watching these guys! (I remember watching these shows every morning before going to elementary school in the early 1970s!) I, too, Kevin Still, haven't heard Mr. Moose in 40 years! (And I get all misty when I hear the piece "Puffin' Billy" played! This music is so tight with this show since it probably was never heard elsewhere!) Thanks for uploading this and the other Captain Kangaroo shows, WØEPD!

Most Kids now a days kids don't play like this anymore, they sit on their phones taking selfies, or at home on the computer or ps4 playing video games, or either smoking pot. What happened to the good old days when kids actually played outside.
Computer games are probably better than being at the park. Games like Minecraft, lets kids spend their creativity without the hassle of getting tired, wasting construction/crafting materials. The only cost is a good computer. ~$600. Which is great for a thing that can last at most, 10 years. The second thing is Minecraft. A quick search on google leads you to purchasing Minecraft. You can either go to Walmart and buy the gift card, or put your credit card details in. Don't worry, Minecraft is a secure website and won't sell your information.
