- The 2020 Seattle Boat Show was a great success! The yacht 'My Family' has to go home to Vancouver, so why not (virtually) join him for the ride.
Test sails are available (for this trip and in the future), and if you're interested please contact us through our website sirius-yachts.com

Yay! I'm eager for more videos of the very best designed and built sailboat in the world, my dream boat, the Sirius 40DS!
Hi Kirsten, thanks for the copliment and please watch this space. They are already in the making and we had an fantastic journey full of great impressions
@@SiriusYachts wunderbar can you tell us some ideas about upgrading to ocean crossing? Danke
@@janosuhlir8706 Well, the boat itself is already built for it but then you will like to cover some areas pending on your route and priorities: Route is the first thing to address as for a one-off Atlantic crossing with the trade winds it`s not much special you really need in terms of equipment and its mainly safety features which need upgrading (especially if you like to join the ARC). If you want to go further or across Pacific and Indian Ocean it’s a different story. There you will have to think more about water maker, wind-vane self-steering and power consumption in general. We also do rain water collectors, SSB radio systems, dehumidifiers, air-conditions, filter systems, all kind of power generators. I would also have the cockpit arch for more solar cells, antennas and a Bimini which could be integrated into the arch or freestanding and could cover the whole cockpit, even while sailing, if we add a targa-style arch at the end of the deck saloon with the mainsheet on top. A number of this things are up for discussion pending on the type of sailing, sense of comfort and security and the route you have in mind. Lots of things can also be prepared and come in steps pending on how far away your starting point of the big journey is when you have her built. We like to be your advisors on this route and through the whole process, but we do generally built a lot of boats ready-to-go-anywhere directly after commissioning
@@SiriusYachts thank you
Kirsten Richards - I agree whole wholeheartedly. Thank you Torsten for sharing. I am excited to watch the upcoming shows.
Cheers Torsten ⛵
Jay
Nice to see you - looking forward to following this journey on my dream boat.
Good luck with your beautiful lady fair winds and calm seas
Thanks! ...we hadn´t - at least not all ofthe time - but thas was part of the fun! There is more to come. Just watch this space
Sirius Werft I will even wishes harder now that this disaster is going on but sometimes dreams are just dreaming
Finally we a proof this boat can cross an ocean
Well, many of them has, including a number of circumnavigations on smaller models in the past. Sailing Today’s verdict: „If I was planning to sail around the world and live aboard, this is the yacht I would go for!
Amazing 🤩
Looking forward to your next (HD?) videos. Thanks for sharing.
Nice Boat.
hope to see you at the 2021 boat show in Victoria BC.
I would have happily invited you to the Vancouver boat show (which unfortunately was just cancelled) and the biggest boat show of the world the “boot” in Düsseldorf in January - but we have decided beginning of November to skip it for the first time after 49 continuous years to be sensible in pandemic times!
Instead, we will have the full range of boats in some variants in our harbour in Neustadt in the water all winter and offer individual meetings, test sails and if that’s the only possibility: personal video tours from there.
This is also where we hope to have now our next exhibition at the “hanseboot ancora boat show”, held end of May beginning of June as biggest in-water-boat-show in Germany in this very harbour. So hope to see you in BC in 2022!?
@@SiriusYachts cross fingers. cheers
If you like see some first follow up here: 48° North Editor, Joe Cline, joins Sirius Yachts CEO, Torsten Schmidt, for a two-day test cruise in the beautiful Pacific North West on the way up to Vancouver aboard the Sirius 40 DS. See a first glimpse of an epic journey, including all seasons and weather in one day and one of the best anchorages and highest currents passage possible, in this lovely area on our way north from Seattle in early February. - 7kn of pushing currents though Decception Sound - drying her out at Elger Bay - squalls up to 30+ knots - beautiful sunny sails - lovely anchorages in a great landscape - …and lots of logs and crab pods If you watch this space there will be a number of new videos shortly to give you some impressions of it and the lovely people I had in ever changing crews for test sails on board, as well as their statements ua-cam.com/video/U7Qby0MZ6m4/v-deo.html
Oh I have seen it! I grew up in Vancouver- PLUS I gobble up everything about this company
I forgot to add - one more reason to want a larger boat- thr list of equipment needed to feel "at home" for very long hauls: washer/dryer, dishwasher, ridiculous amounts of freezer storage (for meals prepared on land ready to just pop into oven), at least two "real" mountain bikes, two folding bikes for guests, two urbees or foldable motorized scooter of some kind for longer hauls, two inflatable two person kayaks (for inlets not suitable for dingy) and two inflatable SUP, then lounge area (as mentioned before) for waiting for stoms to pass - in the dining area you can't really recline and lounge about watching movies, and a second shower is really needed if you are out there with more than 4 people which is ideal for severe weather
Ok didn't mean to submit- but all extra safety equipment and a rigid bottom dingy, add all of that together- clear decks I think you are looking at 45? 48? Feet expedition- edition (alliteration- love it) all with keeping the 3rd cabin.... and voila- the perfect home away from home. Love these boats - love- we Yankees just need to haul more crap and more space (we tend to be the kings of '"stuff") thank you for listening!
Looking forward to seeing the sail. Did the owner document any of their journeys around the Pacific or Caribbean?
Yes, you can look a bit of this journey up at Instergram if you look for yachtingvancouver
Mate!! Work out how to upload in HD please. It's a pain trying to watch this in 480p. Cheers :)
I am sorry for the inconvenience! Stuck in the third harbour on the Pacific-north-West without WLAN (not expecting this!?) ..and otherwise enjoying being out at anchor 🤗
Will upload properly when back home.
Gute Reise from Australia 🍻😎
I want to see a Sirius 45 DS
I want to be able to buy it!
me too ;-) But still struggle to find people with ideas which areas shall be more spacious or which functions the next bigger Sirius shall have over the 3stateroom/2heads/workshop Sirius 40 DS other than more hull speed due to increased waterlne lenght. Any ideas anybody?
@@SiriusYachts I have some ideas to change the integration of the Nav Station and how to use it!
@@andreaspoppe3124 great, please bring them on. If you like, please feel free to exchang ideas via mail with marketing@sirius-werft.de
@@SiriusYachts You have a mail!
Will there be more from this series?
I am sorry for not having them online here already. This are somewhat challenging times and some priorities got mixt up a bit soon after I came back from the US. However, we where lucky to have the production running all year and the new 202 season is starting with 4 boats in the water already. Have a look for some part of the journey here: ua-cam.com/video/haLHXkmd2Is/v-deo.html ....but watch this space. There is much more to come soon
HD?
So...no more videos of this trip?
What happened to the future videos? I was looking forward to seeing the trip.
