    Herr Schmidt, you are very talented! This is a wonderful walk through of an amazing boat! So many walk throughs on UA-cam have bad video that jerks or fails to show important features. You are thorough, give excellent extemporaneous information (in a second language) and film at the same time in a single take! Such an amazing boat and company owner. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing boat with us.

      I fully agree!! I will also say that after trying to tall my husband into a boat - and forcing him to watch your video - he said this was the best boat so far❤🙏🤞 we just need a slightly larger boat with a "lounge" area - Americans after all😜

      @@radicalmama135 I´d love a Sirius 48 DS as well, please :-), but if we believe the many testing magazines she already offers the equivalent interior space of a 47-48. But honestly, there will be a larger Sirius once...maybe sooner than later, we already had some meetings about it and are working on first studies...but we do still wonder (why and) where you will need more space. The 40 already features 3 spacious double staterooms, two heads and the workshop. Apart from waterline length for more hull speed we are still searching for additional rectifications for going bigger. Maybe a dingy garage instead of the davits, but this will waiver the possibility of a luxurious aft cabin? … or three instead of 2 of the 3 cabins big enough to be master cabins? …more ideas anybody???

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +2

      @@radicalmama135 ...I guess I do only have a rough idea of what you are locking for with a lounge area!? For reading and watching TV we have a very nice long headboard in the right angle in the aft cabin which turned out to be surprisingly comfy and light with the skylight above and all the windows around …I personally still prefer the settee in the saloon, the foredeck or the cockpit to lounge. What are your thoughts?

    • @radicalmama135
      @radicalmama135 3 роки тому +2

      @@SiriusYachts so sorry for the long wait - phone got wet and died - so we Yankees like communal areas that we can lounge around and watch TV (even if it never really happens) but not in a private area of a boat - we like to keep those areas totally private. 3 cabins is best - even if one is just a sea bearth in a hallway kind of a thing - so long as it has a door or curtain. Two heads - a garage dingy is fine - but hard core davits are just fine too. Keep everything you have- jut the way you have it - but just add room for. 2nd shower and somewhere for a sofa kind of area with a TV - somewhere to lounge in bad weather or watch a movie all together while waiting for a storm to pass in Patagonia (one of the many places I am dying to go with your boat)

    This is the boat I dreamed of in my mind after shopping for colvic countess and moody 35s . Turns out it exists and it's amazing. I can't afford it but it's amazing.
    If I had 600k I would buy this and a 200k house. If I had 6 mill I'd still do that and give the rest away.
    Perfection!!

      I totally agree! the 35 is plenty and a go-anywhere-cruiser as well. Sizewise the 35DS is perfectly constructed into the metric of the Baltic. With only 3,40m (11fett, 2 inches) hull width she very slim for a modern Yacht to fit into boxes in all the cute little harbours in Denmark and Sweden. It also helps the sailing and rough weather performance. She has the maximum length and width for what we wanted to archive space wise on the inside. Offering about 6feet more internal space than comparable yachts due to the unique deck saloon concept made it possible to archive the internal space of the 41 feet boat for lower mooring and maintenance fees and easier handling ...but not compromising on the space and luxury feel you love for a couple with kids or couple sailing occasionally with guests for few days... have you see the latest persentation about her: ua-cam.com/video/NcVVsEnUBUc/v-deo.html&lc=z23rwfehynfqijkxb04t1aokglalr2efuitr2ccvdausbk0h00410.1582479078244963 (the subtitles you can switch on are quite good in English)

      Sirius Werft, I have a few ideas. You should add a separate shower room for the forward master cabin, separate from the en-suite toilet and sink. Then add the remaining space to enlarge the galley, navigation area, cockpit, forward sail locker, and aft lazerette. Your current design will be tough to beat but I’m sure you’ll find a way. German ingenuity and practicality at its finest!

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  4 роки тому +6

      Thanks, this are good points, which will come more or less naturally with any bigger design. I am still struggling with the use of the aft of the boat. I am not a big fan of aft cabins in general because of the slapping water in the back and I do like a low cockpit as well as not having bridge decks but ease of walk through from saloon all the way to the jetty..... but a bigger Sirius should probably take a more luxurious aft cabin or a dingy garage instead of David’s in account ....but that would need double rudders and compromise manoeuvrability and the perfect functionality of a Hydrovane and will change the cockpit...still exciting rounds to do ;-)

      I wasn't planning on going to the Seattle boat show this year. But when I saw that she was going to be there, my husband andI drove up from Portland just to see her. I've been following this boat yard for a year or more and reading everything I can about them. In person this is a gorgeous boat.
      The main issue I had with the 40-foot that could be remedied in a 45-foot is both heads are forward. Even though the walkway is narrow, I worry about walking forward during rough whether while under way to use the head. Perhaps a head, just a standalone head, could be placed aft.
      I personally don't like the location of the trash cans, that something that can be fixed when and if I ever get to buy one for myself. I would rather have a pull out next to the countertop where the waste is being generated.
      Finally, one thing I Haven't seen in any of the videos and never thought to look for on this boat, is an outside shower/spray system to clean off the dinghy etc.
      None of these things would stop me from buying this boat because the stairways are shallow and easy to navigate instead of climbing up and down a 6-foot ladder Into a pretty dungeon with no view to the outside.

      @SiriusYachts  4 роки тому +6

      Thanks Anna, I am glad you made the way to Seattle. Great having both of you on board!
      Great feedback! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Very helpful and I can understand your points. Some of my thoughts and solutions to it: Heads > I personally like them rather in the centre of the boat above the keel(s) with least motion than in the back (the stb one sits therefore in this position and is shaped in a way that you are kind of tucked in when sitting on the toilet), but in our brochure you will also find a version with day-heads stb of the entrance directly at the companionway. Trash can location > we are just building a swing keeled 40 DS with your suggested positioning of the bins. I myself like cooking on board a lot and don´t like to open and close a lit or Pushlocks with smeary fingers. So having it under the chart table standing open while I am working in the galley to dispose of things into it from the top without touching anything was my solution ;-). Outside shower > all of our boats have a warm and cold shower in the back next to the opening door ...as we used on the trip back to clean our rubber boots from mud after drying her out at Elger Bay, Camano Island but there are also high pressure washing systems in the front and aft available

      @@warrenbfeagins Thanks a lot! Well there is an easy answer to that possibility: She wasn´t nominated as only 5 boats, each year, per class, get an invitation to take up the challenge and since a while the big European magazines are all about: " a cruiser racer is the best blue water yacht" ...I would have something to say about that ;-) But we got great reviews nevertheless: Segeln: “Modern appearance and good sailing performance.”; “Not only a deck saloon yacht that sails well, but one with a twin keel that really points upwind.”; Segler Zeitung: “We were easily able to maintain 35 degrees AWA, which you would expect from a performance cruiser - not one designed for long-distance adventures. … her performance under sail really surprised us.”; Bootshandel: ”It was the sailing performance, in particular, that won us over.” “What surprises me the most are the tacking angles that we recorded - all were well under 80°.” “You have to sail her to appreciate the huge potential that the Sirius 40 DS offers you.” Yachting Monthly: “She tacked through 80° and was most comfortable at around 32° off the apparent wind.” Sailing Today: "If I was planning to sail around the world and live aboard, this is the yacht I would go for”, 4 out of 5 Stars for performance; Segeln: “The concept is mature, executed to perfection, and she really sails well. You can’t ask for more.” Please find more comments of the experts in our brochure at: www.sirius-werft.de/wpsirius/wp-content/uploads/40DS_Prospekt_En.pdf

    I have for the last eight years been sailing a Jeanneau 43DS (owners version) and amazed at the space you have created in just 40ft. What a stunning boat and much cheaper to berth and operate I suspect. Once you cross the 12m size barrier everything gets more expensive. Maybe one day I will find a preloved model and make the swap. Wishing you Good luck for your company.

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +1

      Yes! That`s the reason our hull is 11,98m long and 4m wide, because this seems to be the barrier before you get to exponential costs ;-). Thanks a lot for sharing this! All the best to you as well!

    • @290Alenka
      @290Alenka 3 роки тому +2

      @@SiriusYachts Perhaps what most people new to sailing won't realise is that you have managed to fit the below decks space of a 45+ footer into such a compact hull. It's not just the cost of berthing above 12m but also finding a marina with sub 12m berths is so much easier.

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, thanks for pointing out. That is actually kind of "cheating" as we simply use the widest part of the hull - where each boat has the most space - in a length of about 11 foot (3,5 meters) double. Thanks to the raised settee, we do not only get the great 360° all-round view, but also the space for a very spacious master cabin and the practical technical room at the very same position. The pantry gains the large floor compartments with an unbelievable amount of storage space... and whoever is cooking, is still able to look out of the window and/or steer the yacht at the same time. So in order to compare our yachts in terms of space (and price) with other yachts, you could include the gained space in your calculation. A Sirius 310 offers already the space and the living area like on a 36 or 37 feet yacht. On our Sirius 35 DS you find room like on a typical 40 or 41 feet yacht. The 40DS can be compared with the roomy feel, storage space and the lifestyle of a yacht around 47-48 feet

    By the way, I just wrote another comment to about how absolutely amazing all your boats are. This is my first time seeing one of your boat with an aft cabin, but I watched your tours for years. "Tardis" makes me smile! It is one of the "very British terms" I had to learn at my first UK boat shows. At the Southampton boat show in 2010 I had a real problem when displaying the 310 on her world premiere. There was a Yachting monthly test of our Sirius 35 DS just out, very prominently asking on the title page of the boat show issue of the magazine: "Is this the best boat ever built" and giving us the "...highest score we’ve ever awarded, by some distance". Nearly everybody coming out of the 310 DS on display at the show commented on how unbelievable the space was we got into this 35 feet boat. After a while it got "kind of tiring" ;-) to point out to all this visitors, that this was the 310 they just have seen and not a 35 ;-)..

    What a beauty and love the ideas of this boat. I was at Paris boat show 2015 but I'm not seeing any Sirius boats, sailboat and sailing around Indonesia (my country) is my ultimate dream. In 2015 my eyes was focused to boat that can beached, center board so the draft is shallow, and for the safety the boat must have water tight door into the cabin (so i was focusing at Jimmy Cornell's boat). I know Sirius can be beached, there is also center boad option or double keel, my wildest imagination is Sirius can be set up like Jimmy's boat, add water tight door so it suit for exploration, rugged, and good self sustain ...that will be awesome!
    Hopefully i can make my dream come true (need to apply skipper certification first and saving money because right now I'm only afford to buy Beneteau 40 instead of this Sirius 40 lol)

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks a lot! yes, all our boats are built to measure and can be individualiced by their owners, but there has also gone some thoughts into the door: It`s a real door made out of bullet proof polycarbonate (material of choice to make windows and washboards oceangoing) which sits on rubber gaskets and seals even more with water pressure from the outside. But the main point is: as it is a door and no washboards: it`s very likely to be shut when the wave hits and only open for minimal sequences (if at all under this circumstances, as you might be safe inside monitoring the situation) ...than the cockpit is quite narrow compared to most other modern boats and drains fast to the back

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  2 роки тому +1

      @h v As we custom build all the yachts, if you want more headroom we can build it into the boats 😀
      The std headroom in the galley (on the 40DS) is 2.07m (6ft 9in). The forward berth and mid cabin berths are 2.05m /6ft 9in long - but we can extend them for you too.
      The cockpit also has a 2.45m (8ft) long seat, because we know that lying flat is necie, even if you're taller than most.
      Headroom in the forward cabin is 1.94m 6ft 4in, in the mid cabin it's 1.98m 6ft 6in, it's less around the saloon table, but you'll be sitting here and there is still plenty - unless you're an Olympic basketball player - Did you see how tall some of them were? 🤣

    I did almost fall down when I heard the guy, who I think is the owner, say “aft cabin”. Lol. I watch many tours from the owner that he has given. I always enjoy these Sirius yachts, there are great. All the different features and everything. I love how you can drive the boat from inside even if the auto pilot was to fail. There’s so much it’s difficult to even list. I do remember him always saying he didn’t like aft cabins back when I watched all the reviews starting a couple years ago. I understand why you move to an aft cabin though, many people like them.
    Question: do you guys still build the emergency step ladder under the owner’s bed so that way in case of a catastrophic fire that they can lift up their bed and they have a step ladder to get out of the hatch?

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +3

      You are absolutely right! I would still not like to sleep in an aft cabin if I could avoid it as I can´t stand the slapping water in the back. So I cannot understand that most concepts are centred around an aft cabin which is loud and makes the cockpit towering high and/or the entrance into the boat needing a high wide bridge deck. So when we constructed the 40 I knew we would have to offer one and we made it just about work with what I thought would be minimal necessary space. My biggest surprise was sitting in it for the first time in early stages of the mockup and thinking: This is very unexpected! Than we optimized the headboard to make it a nice lounging area with TV and the many windows and the skylight on top - and today most 40s have the double aft cabin (which could still be used as stowage or made into a alongside single captain`s bed)

      c. you spare a lot of money for the dealership….and
      d. we are the most competent partner for all your questions and service requirements as we know all about our boats an can help very fast
      Of cause we work together with local contractors (and actually we do have a subcontractor in Vancouver allready), but can advise and provide them with all necessary pictures, guidelines and information. If something really strange should happen our Service team will fly over to your base. That’s quite easy from our place but usually not necessary

    Can you speak to one concern: in the deck saloon the windows are very large (largest I have ever seen in a monohull vessel), did you do any impact testing? As a blue water boat that would be my first concern as if you took a rouge wave or a knock down and lost one of those windows it would be a bear to secure the boat against significant water intrusion.

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  4 роки тому +6

      Thanks for this question. Yes, this was an important point in the design spreadsheet. As we are building ocean-going-cruisers since 49 years now, there has gone a lot of thought and calculation into every little detail. The saloon windows in particular are in use by us since 1988 on every deck saloon yacht we built and have circumnavigated the world a number of times, without any window failures. This particular Sirius has been sailed all the way from Germany through the Atlantic, Panama Canal, through the Pacific, via Micronesia and Hawaii to Vancouver by their owners.
      They are made from toughened security glass with an own certification for world-wide sailing (without the additional use of shutter blinds). They are up to 10mm thick and it is a fully glued in construction bolted trough an aluminium frame work with hundreds of 6mm bolts as well. The recess they are sitting in is a 25mm wide part of the GRP deck and the inner aluminium frame overlaps the same with on the inner side. The only way to destroy them, if you really try all you can, is using this very sharp and pointed hammers you find in busses and trains, but you will struggle to make an impact. Compared to windows in bigger boats, catamarans and commercial vessels this windows are very small ;-).
      As for testing the hull windows and door material: How about a 140kg body builder working on the portholes with a new axe? We made this test some 6 years ago and I will make sure to post the pictures on Facebook soon! They are made out of the same bulletproof material used for police and military cars...but ours is 12mm!

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +3

      Danke schön! Darf Ich Ihnen das auch auf Englisch beantworten? Yes, they were especially developed for blue water cruising and rough weather conditions, and always have been! There have been an number of curcumin-navigations on older yachts even. Some Atlantic crossings. Recently a 40 DS was collected by the owners in Germany and sailed straight back to Vancouver via Canary islands, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Micronesia, Hawaii. A second one just arrived in Barbados. I personally can´t imagine a better concept than a deck saloon for blue water and extended cruises.
      The saloon is on exactly the same level as the low cockpit and is indeed a quite calm place to be in rough weather conditions. Last year, after the Southampton boat show, we had two full weeks of test sails in above 28kn of wind - for every single day! Going inside, the moment you are out of the most busy waters outside of the port, is an fantastic experience! The insolation of the whole boat but also the Polycarbonate door and double glassed windows, as well as the soft motion makes 30kn feel like not more than 15 inside. After some tea, coffee and sandwiches - and mainly because someone said: "well, there is the Isle of Wight coming up - shouldn´t we do a tack?" you put you oilies back on and the moment you open the door - you are back in 30kn of wind ;-)
      That`s exactly the reason we designed this hull shape specifically: It has a deep fore foot going 50cm under the water line and a V-spant nearly up to the keel. The bow section is also very sharp to cut through waves and not to slide onto them and slam down. Than the under-water body is deep, thanks to the solid built and the water line narrows in the aft very much -> not to surf waves but to keep the waterline shape even when healed. Therefore you have little movement in rough seas and feel safe and gently moved in the very low cockpit ...and do not need double rudders (so do not lose all maneuverability at low speed in harbors). Unlike most other boats there is no negative varnishing stability thanks to the decks house. So the boat will not stay capsized but will right itself up any time immediately. If you are comparing this to a 30 year old long keel design I can see that this shape looks too modern for your liking but there is some science gone into hull shapes since computers have taken over …if only the specification was right in the first place: This boats are indeed developed for blue water cruises in safety and comfort!

    Это отличная лодка... Oh sorry) This is a super boat, super quality and approach to construction! The absence of such boats on the secondary market means that the happy owners made the right choice and are not going to part with them! If it's not a secret, how many yachts do you produce per year and how long does it take to complete an individual project?

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks and yes, there have only been 2 of those second hand world-wide on the market so far...but in 7-10 years from now there might be some. Production started only in 2014 and most owners keep them at least 10+ years. Building time of a new one is about 5 months but lead time varies between 1 and 2 years

    Perhaps still interesting for some who find the appearance too much like classic motor gliders and their only moderate sailing characteristics. On Yacht.DE (unfortunately only available in German language) the Sirius was tested together with some modern touring yachts of different nations. Even the testers were more than astonished by the sailing characteristics, the Sirius not only kept up very well, she was even faster and more stable on some courses than some established manufacturers. Her sailing performance was even better than that of a Hunter and a Beneteau on room and downwind courses. And this is saying a lot for these yachts, which all have really excellent sailing characteristics.
    She is also offered as a "Semi Custom Build" and offers many different layouts that can (to a certain extent) be combined by the customer. 1 to 3 cabins, large workshop with huge storage space and/or small workshop and 2 cabins, no problem.
    If you are interested, you should definitely have a look at the Sirius homepage. The owner presents the yachts between 31 and 45 feet also on YT very detailed and in detail. ua-cam.com/video/RMcxA5mDPwg/v-deo.html (only 40 foot)
    My conclusion: For someone who wants to go on a long trip, the Sirius is a very good compromise between the living space of a catamaran and the good and fast sailing characteristics and favourable berth costs of a touring yacht. And that at quite moderate prices. A real insider tip for the American market!
    +++ in German +++
    Vielleicht noch interessant für einige denen das Erscheinungsbild zusehr an Klassische Motorsegler und deren nur mäßige Segeleigenschaften erinnert. Auf Yacht.DE (leider nur in Deutscher Sprache verfügbar) wurde die Sirius zusammen mit einigen modernen Tourenyachten verschiedener Nationen getestet. Selbst die Tester waren von den Segeleigenschaften mehr wie erstaunt, die Sirius konnte nicht nur sehr gut mithalten, sie war auf einigen Kursen sogar schneller und stabiler wie einige etablierte Hersteller. So war ihre Segelleistung im Vergleich zu einer Hunter und einer Beneteau auf raumen und vorwindkursen sogar besser. Und das will bei diesen Yachten, die allesamt wirklich hervorragende Segeleigenschaften haben, doch schon einiges sagen.
    Zudem wird sie als "Semi Custom Build" angeboten und bietet viele verschiedene Grundrisse die (in gewissem Rahmen) selbst kombiniert werden können. 1 bis 3 Kabinen, Große Werkstatt mit gigantischem Stauraum und/oder kleine Wektstatt und 2 Kabinen, alles kein Problem.
    Wer interesse hat, der sollte sich auf jeden Fall auf der Homepage von Sirius umschauen. Der Eigner stellt die Yachten zwischen 31 und 45 Fuß auch auf YT sehr detaliert und ausführlich vor (in englischer sprache).
    Mein Fazit: Für jemanden der auf Langfahrt gehen will stellt die Sirius einen sehr guten Kompromiss zwischen Wohnraum eines Katamarans und den guten und schnellen Segeleigenschaften und günstigen Liegeplatzkosten einer Touringyacht da. Und das zu durchaus moderaten Preisen. Ein echter Geheimtipp für den Amerikanischen Markt!

      I am surprised : i am definitely the Sirius french fan n°1 :) and of course Beneteau can't compete with the level of finnish, the thick hull and the furniture we can find in the sirius. Sirius is a miracle for me, much smarter than Moody.. the advantages of a rear cockpit and central one in the same boat. Workshop and central bedroom : no price for this.
      Fantastic without doubt.
      BUT beneteau and jeanneau Berret-racoupeau hulls are very very close from real competition boat,
      So the layout is less smart, you can't store as stuff as the sirius, and the hull is light infusion xith balsa core and counter-mold.
      and, it can be seen as a problem but... they are very very light with deep keels and powerfull ulta wide beam.
      I can't imagine in the same wind a heavy Sirius fully equipped can compete a 2020 Beneteau with carbon pack and the best sails ( for... a fraction of the sirius price).
      It's a bit like a formula one against a G-class mercedes to me.
      - doesn't change my mind, if i can i take the Sirius-

      Comparing performance: Well, there are different typs of boats and sailing: This its solidly built so not on the racy, light weight side but the hull/keel/ruder/rig design is as a modern cruiser/all-rounder for comfort in heavy weather/fun to sail. You might not take the Spider on a family trip into the mountains to camp out with the kids if you have a Jeep to use as well. So taking the perfect long distance cruiser onto a racetrack might be fun but does not make much sense. But more often people think they could do fast long distance cruises in simply taking a cruiser racer and load it up with all the tankage and equipment needed only to find out that the hull design was not shaped to carry such load. This 40 is in particular designed to sail and perform in a range between standard 10 tonnes and fully loaded 16 ...and still sail. So in the end: there is a discussion to be had about "what kind of sailing/places/preferences you have" which will make the decision between "formula one and G-Class....or a lot in between ;-)

    I always liked the Sirius because of the DS and the inside steering.
    BUT...
    Looking at your main sheet attachment. I can help but thinking how this ring snaps at the first gust strong enough to tip the boat by just 5 or 8 degrees.

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +1

      Well, you are not the first to think so BUT... this very yacht featuring in this video has covered 20.000miles by now and has seen some gales (and gybes) on it`s way from Germany through the Pacific to Vancouver …as well as about half of all ever built Sirius 40 DS are frequently on blue-water-cruises. From all this experiences I would state without doubt that this ring is made up to it.... It is a 10mm full stainless steel ring weldet onto a 42mm thick walled stainless steel tube which sreads it´s loads into the cockpit floor through U-shaped stainless steel reinforcements on a surface of 0,6m by 1,3m

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +1

      ...fun point is: if you compare this 10mm ring with the size and diameter of the shackles you would expect on the blocks you might notice that they are all much, much smaller and still lasting for ever....and even if you try, you wont find thicker schakles fitting to the bolcks. By the way: That design was changed since this boat was built, but not for reasons that it wasn't strong enough for the job, but as we liked a feather standing upright better in little wind, as the block is not making any noises that way...

      ...for those seeking full sun protection everywhere in the cockpit, even while sailing, we do offer a targa-style cockpit arch above the deck saloon. This has also the mainsheet attached on top which than could be operated by a remote controlled rewind winch. With this setup you could shade the full cockpit while sailing either in connection to a free standing or integrated Bimini. It’s a very nice feature for very sunny areas and living on board all year round...but works against rain as well ;-)

    Those 1000 liters mentioned at 10:44 are in addition to the normal tanks? And how big are the normal tanks?

    • @SiriusYachts
      @SiriusYachts  3 роки тому +2

      Lucas Barcellos no, that’s not additional but what I assume as a total sensible to talk about. Theoretically you could have more but on a 40 feet yacht you then start to get rid of part of the accommodations or need to go to limited cabin versions and need to factor in the total weight and loading capacity. Most 40s so far have (depending on focus and wether they have generators or watermakers) 515 liters of water, 315 liters of fuel and 100+70 liters of black water capacity. That’s 1.000 in total with another 300 l additional under the galley for whatever you like to use it to play with. Pending on the interior version or sacrificed space in the workshop or cockpit lockers there could be more but I find this difficult to rectify

Only one thing would concern me and it's the same for catamarans, is the portholes. I would like to see testing where they are literally shot with a gun for my peace of mind. There are a number of options available. This yacht's owner chose to have the mainsheet attached to the binnacle, so the forward part of the bimini is removed underway, while the helm and the aft cockpit seating remains covered - they'll have the whole saloon that is completely covered and protected too.
      We also offer the option of a mainsheet arch that goes at the aft end of the coachroof, allowing a full-cockpit bimini if required. The owner is always free to choose the solution that best works for them. Before the build commences, we'll guide you through all the options, discuss the merits and downsides of each solution.

You can either opt for a freestanding, or an in an cockpit arch at the back integrated Bimini for the aft part of the cockpit above and around the helms man position. This could be extended in harbours or anchorages to cover the front part of the cockpit as well, when not sailing. Have a look at 1:00 and 1:50 onwards in: ua-cam.com/video/MQgRIVw-kPg/v-deo.html
