    if leg locks hurt, it's pretty much too late, some amount of damage is being done to the ligaments of your knee. I blew up my left knee, whole gym heard it pop. tap early friends it's so important

    • @bigmember5908
      @bigmember5908 6 років тому +3

      aside from hip locks those usually hurt before damage is done, thankfully

      I agree, tapping after you feel the pain is too late. I'd go so far as to say that as soon as your opponent has you in the heel-hook setup (or even is attempting the heel-hook), tap immediately

      Straight ankle locks, toe holds, knee bars and outside heel hooks all hurt before you take damage. The inside heel hook is dangerous tho cuz you only feel tension before the damage occurs

    I'm a white belt and in my school they don't teach heel hooks, but I do watch a lot of UA-cam videos jiu jitsu techniques, so I was trying to show my dad what do jiu jitsu is all about so I put him in a heel hook and tried to finish it and he said he didn't feel anything, so I tried again and again and again to do the heel hook correctly on him without him resisting for like 15 minutes and still nothing, I don't know if she has very dense tendons and strong knees or if my heel hook is complete shitt, but I kinda lost faith in that technique

      the real problem is trying to settle on one 'best' leg locker in all of grappling. that is kind of ridiculous I mean there are a lot of varieties of leg locks. my heel hooks suck but I have good toe holds. so my leg locks run the range from sucking to being legit. obviously I am not on the level of being compared to these guys or best in the world or whatever but point is everyone is going ot have diferent things they are better at

    Irresponsible to post heel hook vids! Some new practitioners could get hurt really fast or hurt someone else. This is something that should be shown in the gym only and to brown or higher. To you guys watching this video and dont know it is very easy to destroy your friends knees for life. If you decide to practice this BE VERY VERY careful and do not use this technique when rolling for a submission. There is almost no pain only a feeling of tightness in the knee and POP!

    • @keithdesautels6516
      @keithdesautels6516 7 років тому +7

      No offense man, but you are speaking as someone who has been conditioned by the scare tactic that BJJ has put out.. It is actually very responsible to put out instructionals on the heel hook.. A lot of BJJ have this idea that the heel hook is this incredibly dangerous technique and that "There is almost no pain only a feeling of tightness in the knee and POP!"... Believe it or not, that is because a lot of BJJ practitioners DONT KNOW HOW TO DO IT.. There IS a way to do heel hooks safely.. So that you feel pain BEFORE it pops.. Starting from the toes, to the ankle, and EVENTUALLY the knee... The way Bernardo was showing is the WRONG way to do it.. its when you ROTATE the foot side to side, is when they wont feel it but it will break.. If you do it like dean did here.. fall towards the foot, and use your lat to push his foot toward his butt, and pull UP on his foot, is when it becomes more of a foot lock than anything.. Its actually more irresponsible to NOT SHOW it, because you are allowing people to remain ignorant, which is the most dangerous thing of all.

    • @staycoolachouston
      @staycoolachouston 7 років тому

      My point is that this should only be shown in a gym by qualified instructors like the ones showing the technique in this video. Not on youtube where any knuckle head can view this technique while drinking a beer or smoking a lefty and apply it a few weeks down the road on a buddy. I know this guy is really good at leg locks and heel hooks etc but this is a very dangerous technique. Ive been training BJJ for about ten years now and have seen to many people get jacked up for life. UA-cam is not the place to teach Heel hooks ask any professor and i'm sure he will agree!

    • @staycoolachouston
      @staycoolachouston 7 років тому

      Let me just add that I was rolling with a 7 year 4 stripe blue last week " tough kid" that is 24 years old and he is all about the leg locks and heel hooks. He asked me to be careful because he had already torn his ACL and MCL multiple times because his gym taught these techniques to blue belts and up. I do agree that practicing these techniques and the defenses as a lower belt is definitely beneficial. But should not be executed when rolling by anyone lower that at least a purple depending on years in training. too many people these days are getting belts to fast and are still wet behind the ears.

      Irresponsible to post swimming videos as some newborns might drown...
      If you decide to practice this sort of techniques with no experience whatsoever nor basic knowledge of anatomy, you kind of deserve to have a broken leg.

    • @tokinabo

      It's irresponsible to have youtube entirely, too much tutorials all together!?
      You want to go back to the stone age where so called advanced techniques were taught to so called advanced practitioners, and start the whole damn process all over again that the Gracies helped changed?
