Short answer : Yes. It is good drill. Even after gen2. Used all of m12 generations.

For my tasks as a Handyman I prefer lighter and compact as opposed to more power. M12 Gen 1 Drill and Driver I’ve owned for years are my go to tools. However I did purchase the GEN 4 M12 impact and I’m looking forward to trying it out soon. My GEN 1 impact is still going strong I just thought the new one looked appealing with the Tri lightsWith the hex shank drill bits I generally and speed control would be nice. I do not use my drill unless I need the precision. Thanks as always for putting in the time to create your videos.

Ill say that gen 2 vs gen 3 fuel drill is a big difference. But i only really notice the difference when using 2" pluss hole saw on 2x4 thicker and harder wood. The gen 2 very much so struggles past the halfway mark. I bought the 60$ hole saw kit on sale for 30$ didnt really need it and i knew the drill would struggle but it had the hex drive and i thought it would fit the impact drivers. Nope its a 7/16 instead of 1/4 in drive. I ended up going through almost 4amps of battery going through one hole.... granted much thicker would then your average hole saw drill but its still common too go through thicker stuff like that. Weird because paddle bits are particularly hard on drills but the gen 2 had no issue with 1.5" paddle bits; but severely struggled on 2" hole saw. I doing something wrong? Theyr bimetal saws so theyr made for wood too! I bought a m12 hackzawl kit for 200$ just too have and im debating on returning thag for gen 3 tools. Really dont want to as i bought these gen 2 kit less then a year ago n feels lika waste

Ive been binge watching your playlist and you are absolutely spot on about the ergonomics. I just purchased the m12 combo kit this year and it feels terrible. Glad you brought that up.

It's just a nice piece, very aesthetically pleasing, but it gets very hot, it's uncomfortable to have a hot tool in your hand

Great video! Only thing I’d do different is I’d run in the rotary hammer setting when using masonry bits

I have the original m12 drill /impact the first m12 drill /impact made. It was nothing impressive. I had smoke coming out of the motor drilling a hole. And the trigger has a delay when you press it. I went to dewalt 12/20v platform. I like the Milwaukee gen 3 but not sure I would like the grip since dewalt has the best feeling grip in the industry. I do like the m12 impact for working on cars though.

Is it just me but that Makita is an 18 volt drill/driver you get the bigger belt clip and slide on battery on the M18.

@@4thewinak comparing apples with pears then, it's meant to be way smaller. Have you done a head to head tests with the 18 volt Makita and the M18 Milwaukee? My money is on the Milwaukee for sheer power Makita will be a nicer drill to use. M18 is a huge platform whereas Makita seem to be going down the for 40 volt route which is a different breed again.

I have m12 gen 2, and if i would want extra power i would rather upgrade to m18 platform as the price pretty close

Drilling speed is a poor way to tests tools. In this case Milwaukee slowed the speed of both 1 & 2 from gen 2 to give more torque. Also the electronic clutch has been ditched for mechanical. The electronic clutch was pants, totally unreliable and inconsistent.

Hated the electronic clutch. I would strip out screws and what not. I recently bought the new gen of Milwaukee. Hopefully it’s more consistent/reliable.
