Bought this radio a few weeks ago, and I like it. As an emergency radio, it does have a few nice touches: The 7-segment LED display is so bright that it doubles as emergency lighting in a dark room or tent - I kid you not! Every button has a distinctive relief, allowing the radio to be used "by feel" in total darkness. The puny solar panel prevents the battery to become deep-discharged (dead) if the radio is kept by a window or in a lit room. The radio has a compact, flush shape with no protrusions that can snag on clothes or other stuff that you are carrying along.
I picked it up recently and decided to watch your video as appose to reading the worthless paper instructions. I am impressed with the sound which is not really the reason I bought it but it for sure better than the phone speaker. It is good for doing stuff around the house but not having to put the stereo on. I think the station buttons have a learning curve which looks confusing. I am sure I will figure it out. For 40 bucks, I like it! Thanks!
Alright I'm imagining dealing with those wanky buttons in a real emergency situation and it seems like an unnecessary extra problem. The solar and crank charging look like useless gimmicks. I was about to pick one of these up but I'll be looking at alternatives. Thanks for this video, great job!
Thanks for the review. I do have some doubts about that 5000 Mah. I have ordered several items with Lihium batteries that were made in China, not one had the claimed Mah. Most came about half the claimed number. I would like to know if you measured the battery.
I would say that the volume is a bit loud when its on its lowest. So not a radio you can have on quietly. And on mine the "brand" is "Boom" but looks exactly the same. I dont seem to manage to get any increase of battery with the crank. Checked it on and off and it just drops in battery %.. Not sure if its something wrong with mine. Evereything else works. And the battery goes red when you crank but it still looses battery. Dont dare to try the sos if its really loud.
It doesn't seem to play Micro-SD card containing audio MP3 music. It will play one second of the 1st tune, then go to the next, then back to the 1st?? The card plays music on all of my other devices.
I could not work out the Emergency Weather Radio mode. It shows 7 channels and then next mode is showing NOAA. When I press the arrow button the NOAA flashed fast. Does not make sence. Any one with suggestions on what is happening.?
I'm looking for something for someone living outside this winter. It doesn't look like it's a good product for that unfortunately. I wish I knew of something like this that was a really great product but didn't cost a fortune. A fortune for me isn't alot so...

Having this little badass gadget is better than having nothing in emergency situation..
