PNG is really fortunate that the Australian gov is funding their protection and resettlement, it's just a disgrace PNG's own government doesn't even take a second glimpse at this disaster and protects its own people
This is nothing but a load of sensational B.S...Tavurvur is not a super volcano! It's erupted explosively many times, and will continue doing so!..But to try to make out it "Could be" the end of Australia, is a huge load of cocky cack!..While it does have an active magma chamber, it's nothing like the size needed to be a super volcano!
Tavurvur is just a small vent of the much bigger Rabaul crater. Rabaul while not exactly a supervolcano can erupt with the same force as Krakatoa or even Tambora. It's even theorized it caused the worldwide winter in 536 AD the worst year in history to be alive.
Australian gov is not funding the resettlement. People have had land to resettle to for more than 15 years now but some chose to move back to their villages. Reporters tone in the whole story is very "sensational". The volcanologist in Rabaul interviewed for two seconds would be a more reliable source than a thrill seeker like Seach. He claims lightning on volcanoes are rare but I've seen that many times on Tavurvur and I'm sure people who live by other volcanoes would agree they aren't so rare. And the reporters pronunciation of Tavurvur is so shocking he is better off saying volcano rather than saying the name so terribly wrong. Channel 7 trying to improve TV ratings again with sensational reporting.
I don't really worry that much about the people. They know what the threat is and they choose to live there anyway. I worry about that bird and all the other animals. They have a hard enough time dealing with the volcano without these greedy people decimating their nests. My sympathy for these people went out the window when I saw that, and when I heard the woman saying she would move if the government paid for it. Disgusting people.

when a small eruption goes off to the side of a major volcano it usualy means the whole lot will go up like krakatoa ..
