- In this video Jay Robarge of Broader Performance will go over some important design aspects of a popular one piece input shaft upgrade for the Ford AOD transmission. This is a must watch for those considering this modification.
Is there a company that you would recommend for these shafts? Im gonna be in the 550-600 hp range, and I think I might need to use a one-piece shaft.
Not off hand because we lost the source we had.
Very informative Jay!
What’s pricing on one of your billet converter’s?
There are a lot of variations but they will start around $550 on up to about $1400.
On the one piece input shaft. Do you press it until the shoulder is flush with the drum? Thanks, and I really enjoy the videos.
Yes.
The Transgo one goes all the way. Not much spline on it.
@@BroaderPerformance I've only used the early Transgo 1-piece shaft. The spline for the turbine hub was tight fitting on it. Used a Continental "tight 10" rollerized converter with it. Added friction to all clutches except reverse - used 2 in that, 4R70W tan OD band, smooth L/R band, 4R70W hubs and drums, AOD gearset, AOD HP Transgo kit. I built it perfect and in time for the customer's deadline - the project never progressed from there....
As you have said, people need it in a hurry and then put off the work once you do your best to get it to them.
Yes, I just returned this part. The specified converter requirements are a problem for most. Look how small the custom converter has to be - that’s a big problem - buyer beware. The advertising does not tell you this.
I honestly don't think they really know. I'm sure they don't care either.
