Very helpful review. I appreciated the detail.
Thanks Shan, a really interesting review. Have loved the videos from your recent trip! 🙂
Very helpful information about the shipping costs. It's a good alternative choice to keep in mind in the future. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for this!
Thanks for the review. Always wondered what Shipsticks was like. I have travelled with my clubs quite a bit (although rarely with a connection) and have never had a problem. Great review.
I have to! Usually no issues.
I've had my clubs delay a few times (sent to my home 3-5 days later), and every time has been transfer through the US 😂
Okay, I've been waiting for this video ever since you posted your first video on this trip and let us know this video was coming. So for starters, I have to say thanks very much Shan for posting this video and sharing your experience. As always, you kept it classy and unbiased.
I was really curious because I work at Golf Town and I sometimes mentioned this service to people when they ask for my advice about transporting their gear on a trip. I can honestly say, based off everything I've heard in this clip, I will very rarely recommend them. It just seems like to much money and to much work to get the clubs ready, and as you mentioned, having to leave them outside from 9-6 is kind of ridiculous in my opinion. I was under the impression they basically picked up your bag for you, and packed it up so you wouldn't even need a travel bag because they will line the whole box with bubble wrap...etc..
At least I know how it works now thanks to this honest and detailed review. Thanks once again Shan.
Happy it was helpful! 😊 Yeah the delivery window and packing was a point of frustration for me (and the price of course lol)
I really enjoyed the informational video. If I was ever considering shipping my golf clubs to my vacation destination this answered that question. Noway would I ever ship my golf clubs.⛳
Great, informative video. I like taking the heads off woods, I’ll do that for sure. Air Canada snapped my 3 wood but I didn’t know until after getting home 😮. Would never use ship sticks because, as you said, always get a bag checked for free and can stuff a lot of extra stuff in that soft bag cover!
oh my sorry to hear that! I used to leave my clubheads on too. I will always take it off now haha! And yes, shoving extra clothes and stuff in the travel case is a must 😊
Very good review of the service. I thought about using Ship Sticks in 2023 due to traveling overseas (Scotland, Thailand, Japan & The Philippines) to play golf but the prices were too expensive. Instead, I decided to find direct or one-stop flights which worked out well for me. I also paid an additional fee for additional weight and added a tracking tag to my golf bag.
The prices for overseas shipping is even more insane 😂
A fellow Ontarian here and thanks for this video Shan, and your previous ones which I discovered earlier this fall. You have vlogged at many of the courses I have either played or wanted to play and your tees/yardages are similar to mine, so I have enjoyed see you play these courses. I recently made a trip to the US (Hawaii), first time with clubs, and I did consider Ship Sticks, but quickly realized what the total cost would be and for that I was still fine to pay luggage fees. I did find their packing tips for clubs very helpful, though, and so utlized that, including bubble wrap for my irons, and a stiff arm. All worked out quite well, even with a transfer in Denver each way, though that layover was 2 hours. I had a tracking device as well and it was nice to see my clubs follow me along the way. Great review and helpful information for those who are looking for that. Glad you enjoyed your golf in SC.
Thank you! and yes, for any direct flight or flight with enough layover time, I think it's better to bring the clubs on the plane 😊 tracking devices are a must these days!
Unrelated, sorry, Shan: I am forever thankful to you for introducing Nikanti! It was my 2023 golf highlight! Thanks!
Yay! That's amazing to hear! ⛳🎉
Iron covers for travel is actually a pretty good idea. Never would have thought of that.
Usually wrap them with a golf towel. Works just as good
Great video Shan. I have never used Shipsticks but I did look up the cost (and hence decided to bring them with me on the plane). You might mention that a chunk of the cost is related to the customs clearance cost because our clubs have to pass the border. I once contemplated driving to Niagara Falls NY and drop off my clubs there. Check the prices from there and you will notice a big savings. Keep up the good work - wonder where your travel plans will be next?!
Interesting! I tried entering USA only like SC to FL and it is cheaper. Still may be better to bring it on the plane tbh 😂
@@GolfwithShan to be fair - try Niagara Falls, NY to SC and use comparable distances. I live in Mississauga and the drive to Niagara is only 1 hour each way. Some people also fly out of the Buffalo airport to save on airfare.
Hello Shan ! What’s in your bag ? And did you play college golf ? Thanks for sharing your golf videos 👏
Hello! I've made a few videos about my golf clubs 😊 I have a full set of PXG Gen 4 clubs. The exact details I share here: ua-cam.com/video/q9xtPXdF8Mo/v-deo.htmlsi=R7febZuXvqrQ75dR
I did not play college golf, when I went to Babson, there was no women's golf team
I was quoted nearly $1,000 by Thailand Post to ship my clubs from Bangkok to Los Angeles 😮
Thanks for this information Shan!! This is a very expensive service!! I would definitely not use it. They are charging you almost 50% off a roundtrip air fare.
usga membership gives you 25% off
5:58 What is a Clearance Fee?
I'm not sure to be honest, sorry!
THIS PRICE IS CRAZY!!!! Who would use Shipsticks?!?!?
I did! 😂 But actually, I think a decent amount of people don't care about the cost and will pay to not bring their clubs to the airport
@GolfwithShan not true. Most everyone cares about cost these days.
Hope you can play with gabby the golf girl in Florida.
Would love to one day!
Ship sticks is way too expensive. Shouldn't cost between $150 and $200 to ship from Michigan to Florida. Outrageous. Cheaper to put it on the plane...
after hearing this I would not use this service. Now explain to me why you didn't just drive to South Carolina from Toronto it isn't that far. Now I only taken my clubs with me once and it was to Vegas, I had my dads hard case and the good thing about a hard case is you can put all your dirty laundry in the case on the way home for added protection.
We consider it! It was only my mom and I travelling and we're not comfortable driving that long distance.
As for shoving clothes in the golf bag, I think we all do it! 😂
THAT PRICE IS OBSCENE ! (EVEN FOR ROUND TRIP ) . I RECOMMEND ONE WAY (GOING) AND "TRUST" THE AIRLINES ON RETURN WHEN TIMING LESS CRITICAL. IF YOU GO TO FEDEX OFFICE TO SHIP , THEY PUT THE SHIPPING LABEL IN A PLASTIC ENVELOPE WHICH THEY ZIP TIE TO YOUR BAG HANDLE--WOULD HAVE SAVED YOU A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT. YOU DON'T NEED TO LABEL YOUR SHAFTS D,3, AND 5 SINCE THEY ARE OF DIFFERENT LENGTHS. ANY ONE WITH A BRAIN IN THEIR HEAD SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE THIS OUT. TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR ADJUSTABLE HOSEL SETTINGS TO SET UP CORRECTLY ON ARRIVAL.
