Years ago (and I mean years) my dad learned to make these at somewhere at some event. For some reason they caught his fancy. He taught us how to make them although I immediately forgot the process. We made a bunch for Christmas. He dipped them in paraffin, then in glitter. He hung them from our living room ceiling that Christmas. Any one over 5 ft 11 inches had doge the stars. I think I might try my hand at making some.
Amazing Kandye! Thank you so much for this tutorial! I can't wait to try this with my grandchildren. I'm gathering lots of fun projects to do with them from this and Early American channels. 😃
That is quilling paper and available at craft stores, smaller packaging if you only want to make a few. After dipping in wax we sprinkled them with glitter :)
Thank you Kandye for this great video. My mother had these when I was a little girl and I always loved them. Sadly, I no longer have them, but maybe I can make some new ones.
I went to the high hopes website. Oh my.... thank you for sharing. Love Rockford... I'll be ordering. As of 12.29.21 - 200 strips are 4.25 orders over 17 are free shipping.
Thank you Kandye for such a great tutorial and information! I'm going to try making a Moravian star this winter. So beautiful and creative 😍 ⭐🌟🌠 wishing you a Happy and healthy New Year ❄🌲😇🕊⭐🕯🕯🙏🙏 PS I love your shop. So awesome the way you have it decorated for 1800's.
This is a great tutorial. I have been crafting for years and I have to say this was the most difficult craft for me to learn. But I refused to give up, and after messing up my first 2 stars, I finally got it on the third try. The third star looks great! I will be making many more by watching your tutorial at the same time. I know that I can't make them on my own without your tutorial. You are an excellent teacher!
I’ve been making these “German stars” since 1999. I saw these being made on the Carrol Devaul Show. I attached them I made crosses with them. Other designs just attaching the corners of each star. I cut my paper strips 1/4” wide, and 11” long. My stars 🌟 are smaller maybe 1 1/2” X 1 1/2” I always cut a diagonal at each end of the paper. It makes it easier to insert through the weave. When I started making the crown part, I alway remember it should look like a shirt collar.
I absolutely love this video!! I'm really into old European traditions, especially German/Bavarian traditions. Candy is such an amazing teacher too!! You really explain things well and have such a soothing voice that it just captures and keeps my attention. Youre amazing!! 😊 Thank you so much for this!!
Kandye, thank you! I adore your lovely store and this is such a treat to have you show us how to make the Moravian stars. I shall attempt to do this and hopefully master it by next Christmas 🥰
Wow! This popped up on my FB feed this evening. Mesmerizing to watch you weaving the star. It looks so simple. I plan to give this a try. You're a wonderful teacher. Is there anything you can't do Kandye?
Kandye- " Merry Christmas". Thank you for your tutorial. We are all waiting on your new found interest saga. Hopefully we could at least see a second date ♡ soon. Have a Blessed New Year. May the Lord Bless each of you ( including the viewers)with Great Health, Joy, Peace and Love 🙏 ✝️. 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣❤2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I had never heard of nor seen Moravian stars before I watched you and Justine make them. If you could put a link to High Hopes in the description that would be a big help.
I'll have to do a little research on that. Paper was expensive in early days, and Christmas decorations didn't really take off until after the Civil War. The stars started as a geometry lesson for boys.
just found this tutorial. i went to the address you gave for the papers and it said to give them my email and they would be opening soon. when I looked at the site that was in 2019. maybe they are closed
My great grandparents were from southern Germany and we still have our paper star ornaments like these that my Grossmutter made on our tree!
That's so awesome!
Thanks everyone for your kind comments! I hope you all give it a try!
Mistress Kandy, can you do this with satin ribbon. I am sure they would make nice ornaments for the tree or on packages.
@@kevinbaker6168 I've never tried it with satin ribbon. The key is getting sharp points so maybe if you ironed the points as you fold?

Thank you!
You did this at the perfect speed. Thank you.👍
You're welcome!
I'm so glad you slowed that down. Thank you. I think it would be a great afternoon project with the grandchildren.
I love your bonnet. I have always loved that period of dress.
Great! Good luck!
@@texaschrissy1985 thank you!
I learned how to make these in the early 1960s and I am 64. This is a fun craft you can do with children (as long as you are patient)

I just made my first purchase with you! 😊 Such beautiful items!
Those are lovely! You could make those and put them on gifts as the bows and they could also be a little extra Christmas ornament for a keepsake ❤❤❤
Wishing all of you at early American a new year filled with joy , health and lots and lots of love xxx

Cam you show how to make other basic tree decorations out of paper that would be of the time period please.
I'll have to do a little research on that. Paper was expensive in early days, and Christmas decorations didn't really take off until after the Civil War. The stars started as a geometry lesson for boys.

All it takes is paper... I should try making these sometime. And maybe find a book on origami... folding paper might be an interesting hobby.
Great video
Thanks!
👌👌👌
Where can I buy this thicker paper in white for my stars?
if you search for construction paper it should come up
Did anyone happen to get measurements of size she was using 1/2, 3/4, inch? Thank you
3/4

Hi Kandye!
Hello!
❤
So niice
Justine, you need to move this over to the Cabin Crafts channel.
We will redo it this November on cabin crafts
Feel like I need to see this from your perspective and not the camera lol! Now if I can just do everything opposite!
You can also print instructions from the website I mentioned.
These look exactly like the Eastern Europe stars but with a different name.😅🤣😅🤣
