drove my bro to airport 60 mile away, on way back, red battery sign came up, then my car lost all power. i was able to streer car to the shoulder on highway. got uber to go to closest walmart and ubered back and replaced battery. drove car all way home with red light still on. pretty sure its alternator. its weekend now. will car drop off at garage on monday. i had enough stress for today lol
Had the same problem with battery light being on...but I remembered that last night I disconnected the connector to the alternator n cleaned it but forgot to reconnect ...So when I got up n start car the light was on ..I drove off then I noticed the windows were slow to go up n down...but before I drove off I looked it up on u tube n came to this vid...I then remember that I might have forgotten to reconnect it ..drove drop off my princess to school...pop hood and for sure it wasn't connected... Then I reconnect and vola! Light went off after I restart all is well...Thx you Jesus . Even had a nice person to stop and ask if I needed a jump ..told him I think I know what problem is ..told him to look on dash then I connect the wire back to alternator then we gave each other hi 5... Nothing like problem solved...So I said this all to tell you all check your connectors to whatever, check fuses, check grounds grounds grounds , then take it from there be bless ..Don't make dealers n mechanics take you for a ride no pun intended...Be bless!!
Hi, when I starts the engine, the battery light shows up on the dashboard and after a few seconds, it goes off. It never happened before. Is it normal or I have to go to mechanics? on another note, I hear squealing noise while I drive. I don’t know where the noise is coming from? The car I drive is Lincoln Continental 1997. What if the battery is replaced on a mercedes Benz 20 and the batter warning light is still on do you need to reprogram it? If yes can Autel 908 bt do it.

With mine it was when my alternator quit charging, whether it was the diodes that died or the voltage regulator or something else, The alternator had been doing fine putting out enough voltage but sporadically, and then I stopped and got out of the truck to get the mail and got back in and when I accelerated the battery light came on and went off a couple times and from then on, the voltage meter in the dash only showed the battery charge level because the alternator was no longer putting out any charge.
I would suggest getting a battery and alternator tester like the top don one I have in my video , it works great on pin pointing if your battery or alternator is going bad.

So, i checked the belt that was ok, battery terminals were clean but I cleaned it anyways. I changed the battery current sensor and put a new negative battery cable. Why is the battery light still on? Everything works fine and had the battery and alternator tested both passed with new alternator voltage at 13.6,13.7. Your tensioner is bad or you need to replace your drive belt.

Mine comes on really dimly then fades out and sometimes it stays on when driving. It’s weird but nothing seems to be the cause of it.
