Yeah if this video would have gotten out in the early 90's it might have ruined the Undertaker character & it couldn't have been used no more. I bet Vince Mcmahon lawyers ensured that heads would roll if any footage of Undertaker not being Undertaker would've leaked by a 3rd party.

He played the Undertaker in such a phenomenal way that it’s STILL weird seeing him playfully flipping people off and laughing, or even wiping hair out of his eyes. As an adult, you start to understand how every little movement and look was totally character-driven.
He’s a true one of a kind legend and yet I feel he still doesn’t get the full credit for his storytelling and character evolution compared to other top guys. We basically had a larger than life Batman type character in real time for 30 years.

It was such a fun and classic game.
Never knew all the movements were recorded live.

This is cool, I remember playing the old WWF games back when I was a child and teen, man those were the days... pity there's music playing over the video and not hearing the original sound so we could hear what they are saying.

Their releasing all of this footage now since he's retired. I mean that much is obvious. Because i can guarantee that if he were still active we wouldn't be seeing ANY of this stuff. Plus, Mark looks REALLY big here. He's lost a lot of weight.

THAT´S SICK!!!!! I played that game when I was 14. I am 22 now hahaha. Not from the era of when the game actually came out, but still played.

Takes practice to learn to attack with proper combos in the game (a lot of button press memorization), but it's really well made, and a part of the Golden Era WWF. I've always had an interest in the development process, and this footage is an absolute treat! The guy directing is Sal Divita, who was Nightwolf, Sektor and Cyrax in MK3. I bet Divita would have fun stories about working with the WWF talent. We've already heard that Bret and Taker were great to work with, as they took the assignment very seriously, despite not having a clue about video games.

They need to bring back this way of making fighting games, it would probably look really great now-a-days. Hell, I'd love if they made another WWE game this way.

Definitely cool to see old footage like this, hard to believe it's already been around 30 years since then. Little side note of useless knowledge, this video is probably one of the last where you see The Undertaker wearing his original attire, with the the grey gloves and boot slacks (not sure if that's the right term), before switching to purple which is actually what you see in the finished game. I'm assuming this was filmed in 1994 since the game was released in 1995. The Undertaker's last televised match in the grey was in January of 1994 (Royal Rumble). He took time off after that to treat an injury and when he returned in August of that year for Summer Slam, he was wearing the purple.

Think about how crazy rare this is. A guy who's entire gimmick was to not sell a thing or barely talk, and he's here joking with them. I would have been marking out like crazy just to see him acting like a normal dude and breaking kayfabe.

Quite cool to see the footage, but seeing that the raw video sessions are out there, it could be possible to do a high def remaster of the game, with possible alternate animation.
