GORGEOUS 1960's Mid Century Modern Dream Home ABANDONED Due To Tragic Circumstances | STUCK IN TIME

- In this episode of Urban Exploring, I will be taking you for a tour through a SUPER retro 1960's home; this one is unbelievably STUCK IN TIME. This home is located in a very affluent neighborhood, and even though it is absolutely gorgeous, it now feels very out of place compared to its extravagant neighbors. The owners that had lived in this home since it was built unfortunately both have passed away and the property and home were sold for 4.4 million dollars a couple years ago and currently, this home awaits certain demolition.. Join me for a tour of this absolutely gorgeous mid century modern home!

Rewatched after a nice livchat.
This one appears to me to be1968 - 69, toward the end of the mid century moderns in my opinion, Tommy may disagree. Next, the over use of the masonry arches.
What a near immaculate home, she spent every waking moment cleaning with a near scientific deft, a real beaut, especially with the ceiling beams.
Thanks for the tour Greg and congratulations on your record breaking livechat count.
👍🤠
Notes:
2:25 Maybe the occupants had memory lapses about the broken hinges.
10:10 Somehow the masonry style looks much older than the late 60's to me, but it can't be. Maybe new old stock was used.
11:47 Using Google lens I found a match on a second hand website, Dual 1009 turntable, $219, used.
15:21 Itsa three ring circus 🙃!
24:04 likely a sliding shower door was there.
28:37 A spectacular area.
37:55 The toilet, sink, towel racks and tp holder are throwing me off, they appear to be from the 50's. Could this house be 1960ish with some later updates in the very late 60's? Or maybe new old stock again?
John thank you for another fantastic post. Seems like you were thinking about the age of this place as you wrote it. The stuff in the basement confused me a bit to be honest too because it does seem a little older. It's a cool house though right??? I'm going to pin this post as usual so everybody can enjoy your observations! Thank you for being part of this thing John
I am not half way through and had to comment on how beautiful not just the materials are but the floor plan! That is a proper "guest bathroom" with a powder room for the ladies and coat closet, gents coats separate of course. Keeping the sink and toilet separate not to back up traffic. I love it! And the name for the hard wood floors is "herringbone" hardwoods. They were and still are not very common and definitely more costly than regular. My grandparents designed their home in the late 50's-60's and I recognize a lot of the styling. Except we are from South Eastern US so it wasn't grand on that scale. Don't assume only a female inhabited it. Most men left those details to their wife. I love that you are taking time with it. Thank you very much.
Hey Kat. I'm on my phone so I can't really address this entire comment right now. I just want to thank you for watching and leaving it and I will reply to it when I'm at my computer. If you want to say thank you very much for your kind compliment at the end of the comment that really means a lot. I'm glad you found my channel
WOW! What a nice home. I love it and would live in it easily. But I love everything 50's, 60,s and 70's. Thanx for this one ❤

Beautiful house in1960s,is near my age I was born 1966😊
this was so cool to see - thanks for showing it! I can't speak for everyone, but i think most of us would be happy to live in even one small section of that beautiful house!
Hey technofu! Thank you so much for watching and commenting I really appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed this place and I think many people here would agree with that statement. Tiny piece of heaven from that house would be fine with most of us!
Yes I agree a beautiful house,so sad it's going to be torn down,1960s,I was born 1966😊
I love that style!!! A modern colonial blueprint, with easy to navigate levels. More older mid-century homes neeeeeed to be preserved. I bet all the older gadgets still work too!!!
it is very sad!@@lisaparsons4124

Another epic exploration Greg sort of reminds me of the Brady Bunch house hey. Those rugs look amazing salvage time. The whole layout of this place and all the arcitecture is awesome very neat and retro looking, cant believe that the power to this place is still on. Ok wow now that old radio and turntable look so cool. Get out of here that retro kitchen what a blistering cool room definately super cool mate these places are just awesome cheers for the great places Greg.
Thanks for watching this one Werner. A few people have mentioned the Brady bunch now. I thought you might like the turntable! Thanks for checking this out dude.
This house is totally awesome! Fill it with retro furniture and live in it as is. WOW how well preserved this place is. So much detail. Everything awesome but modernized bedroom and basement but this was a another great explore! Thank you

a total GEM. Its a downright CRIME knocking down this palace. A CRIME I tell ya!
Thanks Greg. Just loved the tour.
Thank you Daphne for checking this out! It was nice to see you at the premiere today! And it really was a gem I'm glad I was able to show it to you
Hi Greg, the house is so beautiful with all these wonderful and stunning details. It's so great to see a place completely free of vandalism and graffiti. I love the architectural style with the different levels of living. The kitchen is just wow....even though the style is very old, the design has something.
A breathtaking beauty where you can only say wow. Thanks for this wonderful exploration and video, Greg. 😊❤️
Hey Andrea! I'm glad you saw this one because it's a really great location. I always love a place that's vandalism free. And this one just in particular is so cool because it's so stuck in a different era. Things just aren't made like this anymore are they?? Thank you so much for watching and commenting as usual. Really glad to have you here
@@UncappedFilms That's true, things like in this house are no longer made like this. I've never seen such beautiful decorations on the door frames before. Nowadays, everything is kept simple and plain.
very true!
Made even more sad thta it is being torn down. #greed
Super cool one! Love the red room. The basement bathroom reflective yellow and silver wallpaper was horrifying like the breakfast room in A Clockwork Orange. LOVE these! SUBSCRIBED!

At about 20:00, all of that area is the maids quarters. Bed, bath and laundry, cleaning supplies. Really nice tour, thank you.
Hey! Thank you for watching and commenting. I think you have a good point there, for some reason because it's not a farmhouse I didn't think of that. Thank you for putting that out there. And thank you for watching and commenting I really appreciate it
I loved the rest of the house too. I think there are some different trends in decorating. But overall it's simply gorgeous! I really enjoyed the video. Definitely did not disappoint, it was like walking through a time machine. Take care, stay safe and God bless! xoxo Kat
A time machine it is!! Not too many places are like this anymore. I'm really really happy to hear that you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for watching and commenting and I hope you will check out some more videos Kat! Have a great night
@@UncappedFilms I'll never understand the desire all the builders have to tear down these homes. If you want the land fine, leave the dwelling as part of the HOA club and restore the inside, the bones are what matter, structures like that will be extinct and the only thing left for documenting their existence will be these videos. I saw some houses they were throwing up in a new subdivision and it was a tall 3 story, that was as wide as 1 room, absolutely ugly and absurd. I wish I was camera ready. And the first bad storm like Hurricane Hugo (1989) which was bad enough to tear our coast lines up and devastate the midlands as well, they will not be left standing. The top of it would blow off. My house was built in 1993 and there is a difference in quality. The people who sold it to us did a major remodel.(I was only 11 then or so) I appreciate quality over glamour. If you can even call it that. Thank you very much.
I am right there will you, i dont understand it, but it's how things seem to be now unfortunately.. They don't make things like they used to that is for sure.. It's hard to believe we'd say 90's stuff is better than todays, because I can almost certainly say most would say the 90's stuff wasn't built like how it used to be...... Thank you again!!
@@UncappedFilms Agreed! I can't even believe I can use a home in built in 93 to compare to what's basically like a site built mobile home today. Because if you compare it to something built 20 years before the quality is nowhere near the same level. Lighter materials, it won't be standing without replacing virtually everything over the years. I enjoy learning about these homes as well it has served me well with a vision of my forever home design when finished. I don't need big, it will end up empty. You can't take it with you when you're gone if these videos are proof of anything.
Yeah you're absolutely right, and the funny thing is, 20 years ago, we said the same thing about stuff made earlier lol. you certainly can't take it with you, it's almost a sad reminder of what can happen.. thank you for commenting so much today, i will get to your other ones!@@katlhp957
The bathroom with no tub is actually just a washroom, with only a toilet, sink, and tub of course bath room with all bathtub toilet and sink, but i wouldn't know what to call if just a toilet sink and a standing up shower perhaps id call it a stand up shower washroom not sure.. I'm just saying, lol😂😅
Wow, house still has power and so vintage style in certain areas. Anyhow, nice exploring. Thanks for sharing..👏💪✌️🫶🌞😇🙏🕊
God Bless 🙏
Hi Shirley thank you for watching and leaving the comment! I actually just learned last week that if a bathroom has a tub or a shower it's considered a full bathroom. Interesting right?? It's always cool finding a place that still has power, and of course when they're vintage like this it's just even more fascinating. Thank you so much for writing and watching I really appreciate!
They're going to tear it down? 😢 that house is stunning. Why tear it down? It's almost move in ready! Not my style, but i hope the relics are removed. Never saw a kitchen like that it is absolutely custom designed. The room with the built in shelf was probably a kids room. That is the desk for homework. We had that red carpet in my house. The colors of the bathrooms..we had the yellow and blue. Not as fancy as this in my house though. My kitchen cabinets are all custom and the downstairs bedroom has a built in dresser. Oh that house is so unique such a shame no one wanted it? A little elbow grease and you could move in. That home was loved and cared for. The ugly not wood paneling in the basement! That was upstairs in my house! ❤ My house was built in 1920 with updates in the 40s and 60s and i did some in 2009. It's been our family home since 1926. Are you in Canada? I heard the a-boot.
Hey Lisa! I am Canadian! Lol I try to say ab-owt but I guess I didn't try hard enough lol. Its a shame it's being torn down, eh. It will be replaced with something bigger. It was definitely a loved and cared for home. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Such a beautiful home. Always sad when they demolish places like these
100%. Its a shame. I'm glad I was able to share it with you though so thank you for watching!
The herringbone floors are awesome
Hey Ramjet, they really are something aren't they? Thank you for watching and commenting!
This is a nice house. Couldn’t believe how clean it was. The red room was awesome! That was probably my favorite room. You know a house is from the late 60s when you see all that green yellow and pink. Great explore brother! Keep the awesome videos coming!
Hey Jamie! Glad you were able to join us today. The Red room really was awesome, and that color scheme will absolutely give it away every time. Those tiles in that basement bathroom were very nice though!
@@UncappedFilms I agree. The tiles in the basement bathroom were very nice. The basement reminds me of the houses in the neighborhood that I grew up in. All of those houses had the panel walls and same floors in the basements. All of those houses were built in 1968.
It's amazing how some features from them look so terrible and others look great.
That was a beautiful house. That kitchen was so well kept it looked like no one ever cooked in it. The cedar closet in the basement may have been for storing fur coats (they still wore them when this house was built) because they need to be kept cool and that closet probably wasn't heated.
Hey Carol ! Thanks for watching this one. It really was a beautiful place in the kitchen is so neat,I think. That's a good call on that basement closet because fur would have been a thing for sure at that time! Thanks for commenting on this one!
I’ll probably run out of space, but I loved the entrance, the glass by the front door, the chandeliers pretty much in the whole house and all of the light fixtures. The trim around the doors, I loved all the bathroom soap dishes. Wish I had some myself. The kitchen was gross and by that I mean the cupboards, but I love that they were two sided. Some really cool knobs on some of the cupboard doors, etc.The beams were awesome as was the banister and very Scandinavian looking. The curtains were a bit much but were very beautiful and definitely in style back then. The carpets are NOT Persian. We have several, so I know my Persian carpets but nevertheless, I think they just need a good cleaning and it was not needlepoint in the entrance, but a needlepoint type of picture. Trust me if that was needlepoint, it would take a year to do. I hope the developer keeps a bunch of the stuff to be repurposed Fantastic video. Loved it.
Thank you again Kathi. I don't know how you know what the rugs are from the tv. I need to learn. So that's Scandinavian design is it?? Interesting! Thank you!!

Hey Didi! Thank you for checking this video out. This place was absolutely amazing and one of my favorite explores that I've ever done. Your friend,

Absolutely love having beams on the ceiling
I love the vaulted ceiling as well. I think that's a must in my next house
The wooden floors are Parquet- a very old form of hand laid wooden flooring. The carpets are not Persian - they are Chinese carved carpets.. The" old school " lights are a modern form of Chandeliers. The "Bathroom" at the front doors is a visitors Cloakroom. The Red room was probably a music & relaxing den and the TV cabinet was a bar area. Look at the dust pattern and glass shelving. The "radio" is actually controls for altering the sound quality, volume, bass & treble and individual speakers. The "door" is a lid. The beams are steel faced with wood. The "Needlepoint" picture is a machine woven tapestry. The intercom is actually a Radio and whole house sound system control. Green carpet is not shag pile- pile is far too short and it has a pattern woven into it. Please do some study on different styles and correct terms. Your camera work is far better than most abandoned house explorers. What were the "tragic circumstances."" causing abandonment.?? Death from old age is just part of life.
Thank you for watching this Laurie. How can you tell the carpets aren't Persian??
Thank you for sharing the knowledge!!
The hardwood floors are done in a herringbone pattern.
Death from "old age" as you put it is "tragic," in my opinion!

Too bad they are tearing down and not repairing 😢
I seen a home similar to this one. There was the same pineapple lighting and the top of stairs looking down into the living room.
Hey Terri! Thank-you for watching and commenting. It is a real same, I will never understand why they would tear a gem like this down. Those lights are cool eh? Where did you see the house you mentioned?
I hope they salvage a lot of the fixtures before they demolish the home. I wish it had went to a family that would love it instead of a developer. I would love, LOVE a home like that.
Hi Megan! I hope they do too but a lot of the times they don't...which is crazy. And I agree with you that would be the best case scenario. I would love it too! Thank you so much for watching and commenting I appreciate it
The wooden floors in the foyer and dining room are not original to the home, are called Parquet flooring, most likely installed around the 1980s. We have them in our house, just different design.
Hi Maria! You think they're that new eh? What did you think of the rest of the house? Thank you very much for watching and commenting!

Friggin amazing explore Uncapped Films. Love this place. Big Hugs. 😊😊
Thank you so much!
What an awesome home. It would have been a fun place to live in.
Hey S A! I agree definitely an awesome place to hang out
This is a very ornate version of late 60's - early 70's - a truly tasteless era overall. Mid Century Modern is from late 50's into early 60's and is much simpler, cleaner and more attractive to the modern eye. To me the kitchen is hideous, but that's just me. The hand carved door edging would be beautiful somewhere else- maybe a headboard? Again to me the bathrooms upstairs are awful - including the cabinets and handles. The bathroom tiling downstairs is okay. Parquet flooring is okay in moderation and it is in good shape. The banister is a real work of art that would fit into a mid century modern home. These are just my personal opinions. Thank you for a very thorough tour!
Hey Paula ! I don't mind your opinions at all I'm glad that you shared them. It's always interesting to hear what everybody has to say. Me and a couple other people are kind of conflicted whether this house is early 60s or late 60s because of some of the items in the basement. But you're right a lot of the charm of that era dies around the 70s. I really appreciate you watching another one of my videos, I always appreciate the comments too! And thank you for the compliment as well!

Hey there! Yeah when I think of a powder room I think of a much smaller bathroom lol. But you're the second person the point this out so that's welcomed information. Thank you very much for watching and commenting, I hope I'll hear from you again
I can see why they left all the pictures behind on the walls of the house. They were cheap, looking and ugly. I’m kind of surprised actually, because even though the house was really dated, you could tell it must’ve been just stunning back in the day, although all those different coloured bathtubs and toilets were a bit much, but somebody definitely loved their color. The living room And the entrance to the house where my favourite and what you said, you thought may have been a changing room, I think it was a bedroom with the built-in desk because you opened up the drawer and they were paper, clips, and some elastics or something. Of course I could be wrong. I really really really enjoyed this house tour. It’s too bad it’s going to be demolished because I think it could be one of these houses onHGTV before and after. It’s a beautiful house even though it’s got some water damage and the basement panelling is so dark on the walls but that was really in style back in the day. Keep up the good work and I hope you get your 5000 subscribers today.
Thank you for the comment and watching Kathi! You don't want the paintings salvaged then??? Hehe. Have a good one!
The floors in the foyer are a chevron styled parquet. The rugs are not Persian! The house though built in the late 60’s to 70’s is not mid-century modern. Mid-century modern architecture is geometrically pure and clean in its use of materials with a minimum of embellishments that this house has an over abundance of.
Hi Crizzy! Thank you for watching and your comment. I really screwed up the floor lol, but I do appreciate you helping me out with the info! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
Vertically laid down hardwood floor? That's called herring bone and it's laid on a horizontal surface cut at 45 degree angles.

Hi Debbie!! Its great right!?
I grew up in a late 60s home. All shag carpet 4 br upstairs and even though we were not wealthy, we had the same intercom system
Hey Rebecca! Thank you for watching and commenting. I had an intercom in the '80s too, but I don't think they were really that common for most people unless you had a new build. Thank you so much
your are right most people in our neighbor hood didn't have one. at the time we had a bigger home, but not too much from everyone else. I still remember my mom saying if we didn't get up she was going to beat our ass if she had to come and get us. this was the 70s , we waited until she hit the stairs and got up lol
Hahaha. Its great to have memories like that. I remember my friends used to tease me about being the guy that had an intercom lol. But my mom used it all the time. She had similar threats lol

I'm so fed up with developers taking over neighborhoods and wiping out beautifully, sound structured homes to save money on actually developing abandoned lots and/or businesses. I know that the family can sell, but there is always a greedy developer downwind waiting for an opportunity to tear down more trees and architecturally beautiful older homes we cannot get back once destroyed. Ugggghhhhh, I despise modern development!!!!! It has its place, but wallets over compassion.
Hey!! Thank you for watching and commenting. Im with you 100%. And modern development seems inferior compared to many of the places they tear down to replace.
8:56 Those sort of look like Hebrew letters.
Yes they are! One of the viewers said they say everything is good
Amazing explore, thank you

I wonder who the owners were and why they left. Abandoned rather than sold or repossessed.
Hi Mariam! They unfortunately passed away few years ago, that's what happened. Thank you for watching and commenting
no one to inherit such a beautiful house, such a pity.@@UncappedFilms
Really is a shame
I don’t think it’s abandoned. The lights on n that Chandelier are on
Hey Kelley. Believe it or not. It has been abandoned for a few years now! Not the first time I've seen a place with power
Near perfect tour. But I have to disagree with the camera being pointed into fifthly toilet bowls as I'm having lunch watching a video. We really don't need to see where people poop. Just the house.
Hi Dave! Thank you very much for watching and commenting. I have to apologize for that. A lot of people actually want me to show it believe it or not lol. I do have a twisted sense of humor so I hope you can forgive that. Do appreciate your viewership thank you
@daves8510 I applaud your decision to watch urbex while you eat. Really commendable and sensible to turn the blame on the people recording for your choices.
Mind watching something light when you eat if you are so dam₪ sensitive..
Hey it's ok. Everybody has a right to say what they want. No offense is taken from it.
Please don’t say, stuck in time, too many explorers use as well.🎉
Hi Paula. I usually don't but this place it rather applies to. You know I appreciate you watching so I will try to use it for special circumstances only
Isthis live?

Did you not see the chat?
We are, n.
