      Hey Chris. I ordered one of these mi t m rotating nozzles from the paint legend store like a month ago and just used it today..I was wondering if there is a trick to getting it to actually rotate or if it's susposed to do it automatically? Mine definitely isn't rotating...thoughts?

    An important tip is to not leave your pressure washer idling without pulling the trigger for more than a minute. You can ruin seals, and other parts. I have seen guys move ladders around to other parts of the house while leaving it running. Also, make sure the water pressure coming out of the faucet is strong enough, a weak water flow can ruin the pump.

      @AndrewBrowner 3 роки тому

      well your right.. a minute is a bit extreme, anything about 3 minutes is good to turn it off, im sure itll take in excess of 10 minutes to actually do damage, alot of pumps now will actually bypass some water out a tube on the side of the pump so it wont boil the water and can idle longer

      @@AndrewBrowner I'm a small engine mechanic and had my own shop for several years. There are many models that recommend NOT leaving them running for longer than 30 seconds without water going through them.

    Glad to have watched this! I love pressure washing. Pressure washed for 16 hours this past weekend and lost my O ring and couldn’t figure out how. Now I know after watching your video! I will def buy a bag of them to keep on hand. I live in the country and had no time to make the trip to get another one before dark. 😔

    Good stuff, Chris! Please ADD this Safety Tip: ALWAYS begin use of the pressure washer by testing the nozzle & gun connection with a few blasts aimed toward the ground or in an open direction that won't potentially hit anything or anyone. This safety checks that the nozzle is securely connected to your gun or extensions. Just like a failed O-Ring, a nozzle quick connect that isn't securely locked in place prior to releasing water pressure can potentially shoot off the end and cause damage or harm to someone! I've seen many a rookie move to pressure wash a house or a car and find the nozzle gets launched off the gun and into the house, car, windows, etc.! Also periodically check that your nozzle quick connect fittings aren't damaged from drops or worn. Damaged nozzle connections can also fail during use and launch off the gun. Always work with gear after performing a safety check! ;)

    I'm preparing to restrain a fence with the same colour that was on it already (barn red) there is a lot of algae and other crap that has built up on it over the years. How can I pressure wash it to remove all the filth without stripping all the old stain off and fraying the wood? My pressure washer is 5,000 psi but I can control the psi by controlling the throttle, i.e half throttle would be 2,500 psi... Should I use a rotary tip in this case? Or a 40? Thanks in advance !

    • @AlexKunstar
      @AlexKunstar 3 роки тому

      Sooo I don't think pressure washing a very dirty stained wooden fence with a 5000psi unit and a turbo nozzle, and attempting to keep old stain while cleaning it properly without stripping it, stripeing it, or damaging it is a very realistic overlapping combination of goals. I would first try using the 40, 25 or 15 degree tips throddled down. This is one of those things you have to just feel out once you're hitting the fence. You can try pretreating it with a strong concentration of bleach (I recommend 10% pool grade dilluted down quite a bit, maybe consult a few softwashing videos) and allow that to do as much of the initial cleaning for you as possible before you blast away the rest and possibly post treating it with bleach as well. If the wood is in very very good shape, super solid, and you're applying a solid stain over it and you're not concerned about removing the old stain, and you're comfortable using the turbo nozzle, then go ahead and carefully blast away because it can definitely make quick work of the cleaning.. But everything from your question seems to be pointing in the opposite direction.

    Could you tell me why my nozzle stops spinning and comes out directly like 0 Degrees with no rotation? My $75 dollar one wont spin anymore and i tried taking it apart. Doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it and I don’t find anything stuck inside. So strange.

    • @AlexKunstar
      @AlexKunstar 3 роки тому +1

      Turbo nozzles can be very, very finicky. Usually it will have some debris, even if it's super tiny specs, just enough to stop it from freely rotating. Flush it out really good with water, try lubricating it with marine grease or wd40 and if it still sucks buy a new one. Unfortunately not everything can be fixed but this issue usually is a quick fix and mostly avoidable. Make sure you have the debris filter installed on your water hose inlet on the pressure washer, dont stick the end of your wand in dirt or carelessly drag the ends of your disconnected hoses around through dirt (are your tips vibrating off the pressure washer and falling into dirt? My turbo nozzle acts like it's in the Olympics sometimes and dives off it's holder). Once you have debris enter the system at any point, that small orifice is where it gets stuck 99% of the time, things that might not even affect a different tip seems to bring some turbo nozzles to a hault, and every time I swore it was clean and got stuck, after re-cleaning, it worked flawlessly the rest of the day. If the little ball is a rusted up, dinged up mess, it's time for a new one.

      @@AlexKunstar thanks for the tips. I disassembled mine and cleaned it. No obstructions whatsoever. Water comes out but wont spin unless i tap it on the ground but then stops spinning right away, but even then just shoots out like a regular 0° and wont rotate. So strange. I have 2 nozzles the same and disassembled both. Maybe just worn out inside or something

      3000 is considered the "entry level" psi when it comes to removing paint, at least for myself and the companies I worked for previous.

    Rule 1 : use house soap and bleach and less pressure. You don't wash clothes, dishes, cars etc. without soap. House, buildings are No different. The less pressure the better. Pre and post rinse all vegetation before you wash and you Will Not kill anything.
    Rule 2 & 3 : Remember rule #1.

    Pro tip hire a professional that knows how to properly wash your house. Don't hire someone who's going apply pressure to wash your house. Hire someone who will softwash your house with a solution.

  • @shanepond6433
    @shanepond6433 Рік тому

    I am not entirely sure what pro's are using pressure these days. Soft wash has taken everything over since 2015 but was invented in the 90's. It is easier without the risk of disrupting stubborn oxidation that even pressure can't get off, but pressure does disrupts it from time to time making your house spotty. pressure is horrible for window seals and marking and scaring siding and clad board. i am a professional and i would never start anything from a foot away more like five feet then move toward your work things happen too quickly to go even for the best of us from time to time let alone people without any experience YIKES!!!! Nothing we can't get off with low pressure and the right safe chemical applications. this video feels like you just needed to create content while not really understanding the field you're talking about. its too bad cause i do get a lot of great painting tips from you.

    One of the most annoying things ever about videos. Is when someone has the bright idea of videoing the side of the person talking. Very distracting, and makes the subject matter less interesting, less important. If someone is serious about explaining something to me, I want it to be eye to eye and not them turning to the side gazing off into the distance with a "could care less" about me attitude.

  • @dustpanman
    @dustpanman 2 місяці тому
