The Sturgeon is a prehistoric fish. They are bottom feeders found on the bottom of rivers. I’ve seen pictures of some back in the early 1900’s on the Snake River between WA and ID. They’re over 20ft long 😮
Sturgeon species are found throughout the northern hemisphere. There are 25 species of sturgeon and paddlefish. Not all species grow to be giants. Some are more trout-sized. They often are associated with big rivers, but there are some that spend most of their live at sea or in lakes. The caviar industry has been predominately based in Russia, Iran, etc.; however, the natural populations there are fading. None the less, Primus' use of a Near East sound for a sturgeon is appropriate.
