I kept seeing this mushroom pulled "pork" around the internet! I've wanted to make it and try it out but I knew it would be missing that mouth feel I look for with pork... but then I ran across a recipe for Vegan Pork Belly from Full Of Plants fullofplants.c...
FAT the sandwich needed just a bit of fat and using the recipe from Full of plants would do that! Lets change the way you make a Plant based pork!

I have done this recipe a couple times....it's awesome. Today I made tacos with the mushrooms adding Mexican seasoning (cumin, garlic, oregano etc with a little smoked paprika).....baked it longer and skipped the pan saute at the end.....OMG.....SOOOOOO GOOD! Shredded taco meat perfection!!! Thanks Mark!!

This kind of mushroom is awesome, we do with that a version of a typical spanish dish, "angulas". Usually if you have a lot of money you may buy baby eels because is the main ingredient in this recipe. But the normal people buy frozen "angulas" that are made with crab sticks. The name of the mushroom version recipe is "Angulas del monte" and it has a very similar taste, but it's cheaper and vegan. Thanks for this recipe by the way! ☺️

I'm a mushroom farmer. Also vegan.
Regular oyster mushrooms shread even easier, because the caps naturally separate alongside the gills. Also because the gills are paper thin, they give very consistent results.
You can easily make then taste like fried bacon.
I know this video is old so maybe you won't read this comment. But have you messed around with semi-dehydrated mushrooms? Fro example for this recipe I think if you had dehidrated the Eryngii a little bit, maybe by 20 or 30%, they would thoughen up, acquire that rubbery texture and integrity, which not only gives them a crunch, but also makes them soak more liquid seasoning and makes them handle more cooking techniques.

I've made this a fair bit too - one thing I do differently, though, is that I fry the mushrooms initially before-hand.
Basically get a big, heavy, metal pan screaming hot, coat with a high-smokepoint oil, add the mushrooms, and toss them. Keeping them moving around, and cook until they become deeply browned and shrink by a lot. They'll start to smell really meaty after a while.
Then you can toss them with seasoning, and simmer in a marinade. The idea is to rehydrate them a bit, and get extra flavors into them while doing so. You don't want to go overboard on acid, though as that will make them more tough (if anything, a slightly basic marinade would be best - think a pinch of pickling lime).

A sizable smattering of haters can be advantageous and made quite good use of if one is wise. Instead of viewing them as mere detestable self-hating cretons and a general nuisance, one would do well to understand the algorithm on this platform promotes controversy. You can secretly inflame them video after video building your subscription base because they'll never want to miss another chance to attack you with their seething nonsensical screeds. As if that wasn't a formula for success in itself you can add to your array of foes but only high quality, idealogically incompatible enemies will do. Our revoloutionary software enables you to keep the enemies you already have while at the same time attracting the most villainous diabolical haters money couldn't buy. Let's face it, anything worth doing in this world is going to piss someone off. We at Dick Flinghammer enterprises believe this and is the foundation of our foundational foundation. After this many fantastic videos, well, you all may have a new convert.

Not always. Yeast extract is sometimes simply the leftover of beer brewers yeast. It is treated and sold as an additive. It is very high in glutamate, but is not bonded with salt like msg.
