I thought I was on my own, loving this film and score, as it wasn't exactly a critical success. Great to read all these comments. Greetings from a Dudley Moore fan in England. The movie "Six Weeks" although less comedic, is another of Dudley's that evokes similar emotions and has another beautiful score composed by Dudley.
Little did I know back in the Spring of 1983 that when I sat down to randomly watch this movie on HBO that it would mean so much to me now. It brings back a near perfect time in my life. The music is like medicine and therapy to my soul.
Whenever I was depressed, I watched the the endcredits of this wunderful film - sunrise in Central Park with this sensible arranged and composed music.
A soundtrack that imprinted on me back in March of '83. If there was ever a score that sounded like my mood when strolling through Central Park west on a Sunday morning, this is it. The film was utterly charming to my then 17 year old self, and the score was perfect for it. I've never forgotten it, and I'm sorry that the film has been all but lost. It was one of those small but beautifully intimate films like The Competition, or Icecastles, that I cherish like a dear childhood friend seen after many decades absent. And what can be said about Elizabeth McGovern. One of the most beautiful faces to ever grace the silver screen.
My only disappointment in the entire movie was when Elizabeth McGovern put a cigarette in her mouth. It was a total turn off for me. It was only one time I think in the whole movie and should've been left out as it added nothing and (for me) took away from her stunning beauty. But then, smoking was still a "cool thing" back then.
But you know, that the dvd is still available? The US-version has a poor quality and is in 3:4, but there is a spanish one in 16:9, which I ordered just a minute ago. Best wishes from Berlin.
Beautiful music by Philippe Sarde for a movie that touched my heart many years ago.
This composer, M. Sarde. Everything he writes is stunning. 🥰 Merci, Monsieur Musique est tres belle
One of my favorite movies ever. But the soundtrack is my favorite period. Brilliant!!!

Thanks for the great comment Charles, I'm so glad somebody out there remembers this film and soundtrack besides me. Take care.

@@windsong1a methinks that if Elizabeth approached you at the time, you would have fallen in love with her even if she smoked Cohibas, lol.
