The AGD Amps are Gallium Nitride MOSFET Power Stage, Class D Amps. I own a pair the Vivace monoblocks and they are the best amps I have ever heard. There are a few tricks to get the best sound out of them...

Excellent video Jay and nice meeting you at the show. Knowing how much you love tube amplifiers, I'm surprised you didn't make a mention of Convergent Audio Technology (CAT) gear that you are panning over at 6:45. To me, that was the absolute best tube gear I have ever heard. At the top floor they had the bigger amps running Magico S5 which I normally find fatiguing (too aggressive tweeter for me), but the CAT amps running them just sounded like pure bliss with an amazing bass grip.

Nice to hear the shout out for Classic Audio Loudspeakers. I own a pair of the T1.5's myself (as well as the Atma-sphere Novacrons, which you'll have to beg Ralph to build now), and I think you hit the nail on the head, Jay, when you use the term "involving," what's really says it all. Even though my turntable is not what it needs to be yet, these speakers routinely reduce my guests to tears when they're listening to their favorite music. The emotional connection to the music is simply there, and there is no school like the old school. As John likes to say, you can always chase the latest and greatest, but in the end, field coil speakers are a special world unto themselves.

It wasn't uncommon for speaker manufacturers to make clear acrylic enclosures of their speakers and subwoofers for showrooms. The most impressive of them all was the clear Klipschorn. I understand that it was extremely challenging to build.

Attended an event recently at Evolution Home Theater that had the owners of Denmark Audio group on hand showcasing the BØRRESEN speakers. It looks like for you Jay they had the Z1 series stand mount on display down in FL. I listened to the O1's Stand Mounts. Whoa! I would not have fathomed the amount of energy/sound a bookshelf sized speaker could create. It was a fun evening and the Denmark group are amazing engineers; meticulous, unrelenting in their drive for perfection and amazing in their ability to craft audio gear to the level they do. They next day I looked up the price of the 01's. Needless to say they were way. way, way above my pay grade (actually even the Z series, which are much more affordable, are still out of range for me). But product like this and most that was at the Expo I'll bet was still a thrill to see and hear (one can always dream). And when in FL, one could possibly trip over a square grouper on the beach that could help fund a high end audio gear acquisition! Thanks for sharing your FL trip with us!

Incredible! You are truly busy, and you are travelling a lot lately! I am really proud for our "Korean surpreme leader" lol...(when was this episode you told us about this) So I assume, you are doing well in your life now, and this gives me hope for the young people in our time. Someone who does passionate his work, and puts in effort and love, it would be a must to make good in financial matters. Everything other I would assume as wrong and bad or better, NOT FAIR at all.
I love it when a young handsome man is successful if he puts effort into his job. But first of all, not only effort and work are the keys to success! You must be talented too, so I mean, you better do a job that you like and have passion for! This way you are way more prone to be successful with your work, and it should be way more satisfying too!
That said, I am very glad you do your job that you love, have passion for, because this way I have the most value in my living room, while I watch your videos, and while I suck in the fruits of your Work - and this means, i can participate on your experience in audio gear, and i can learn without much pain, whats going on in the audio-business! This is truly convenient for an old geezer like me, that had to learn anything aut of these things with these strange papersheets you could flip back and forth, back in my time...those sheets with the numbers and the letters on them, you know what we called them? "YEAH! BOOKS! That´s the name of these fountains of knowledge when i was young!
Mucho expansive, and heavy to carry to school and back home too!
That was the way WE had to learn back then, when I was young.....didldi didl di doom.....when i was young....
Young men like our JAY came on the screen the very best time now! Just when i got old and slow, YOU showed up, to bring knowledge to my listening room - 24/7, and almost for free! That´s amazing! Amazing like the content you bring to us! It´s great,l and very appreciated!
Have a good time Jay! And bless you!

Thanks for a rare inside look at the audio show. One of the downers for me is not likely ever being able to hear, never mind see, most of the gear you reviewed or showcased. When you don't live in or near a large metropolis, where the population warrants audio stores to bring in large selections of products, it really limits what you can do with your system as far as upgrades or just plain changes. Having said that, It's great that you are so keen to bring so much good information to the masses - well done!

Jay, wonderful review man! I live in Ft. Lauderdale and I almost drove up there for show but didn't make it. My local friend here is what I call a "1%er" audio dealer by appointment only who starts with products like The Gryphon/Nagra/VAC and it goes up from there. He reported back to me about some highlights and one product he admired was the Acora Acoustics I think made in Richmond Hill??? We are both CDN boys and nice to see amazing new products on display from Canada. If I was able to attend no doubt I would have enjoyed meeting with you. BTW before I go I have to tell you I got my new pair of Magnepan LRS Plus speakers and....WOW....did I say WOW? Holy crap, I bought them just for a lark and I am still on my ass trying to get up. Something for many to think about before thinking of having to shell out six digit figures.

The Piega speakers appear to have concentric planar magnetic drivers?
The MC Audiotech speakers use the 40th anniversary edition of what used to be called Linaeum TLS and is now called WBLS (wide band line source); designed by Paul Paddock. They are a dynamic dipole driver, that work in a unique way. The driver is a masterpiece, in my opinion.

Goes to show how much Audio. Is different to each listening , The classical , Atmasphere Room was easily the worse sounding room at the fla Expo , 4 yrs running so very consistent flat dry and lacking anything named dynamics , this was shared by many others who heard that room ..

That AGD gear pointed out your psychoacoustic bias. You thought it was tubes so you liked it like tubes. Most of this stuff is just in our heads when it comes to high end. Power of suggestion. I’ve had clients come in and listen to the same gear. To some I’d say that I like the gear, to other I’d say that I didn’t like the gear. Nine times out of ten they agreed with my suggestion after listening.

HA! I called it, I knew I'd get comments like this and you are right about the power of suggestions and psychoacoustic bias
But, I don't think so in this case. I never go into a room with tubes and think Im going to get a tube sound. I've had too many experiences where tubes didn't sound tube-like for me and that's because many tube manufactures now chase for a more modern sound and trying to compete with solid states etc. I went into rooms with tube gear and didn't find them tube-y as explained in the video.

@@Jayiyagi yeah that’s fair too. You may very well hear a genuine difference. I just think it’s worth reminded folks that psychoacoustics can have a big impact. Also for what’s it’s worth I heard the AGD gear up at Capital. It’s good stuff.

@@lukerestlessstudiostubes will fundamentally change the way a system sounds. We have video evidence of it. Check out virtual hifi videos and NRD video he did on 4 different tube amps (though that one is far more open to bias as the whole track is played between each one). Obviously close your eyes while listening to them.

I thought the whole point of Audio Research was to make tube amps that didn’t sound like tubes!

All this new stuff is not necessarily any better than the golden era of audio stuff. Subjective of course. I personally have been through some of it. Didn’t last long. Been back to Quad Esl57 ,Radford STA15 and arc sp6E. So far 14 years and no desire to change. The only other speaker I own are the Gold Badge Falcon ls35a. Oh, pair of REl T7i crossed at 35 hz. Cost of this system is less than the cables some use. Don’t understand. To each his own.

If you listen to old and few genres, then yea, you probably arn't limited by vintage gear. Play power violence through them, and no, they won't be acceptable.

Dafuq is liquid/fluid? You need to get more precise, I know it is difficult, but please don't say liquid/fluid/organic, etc!
