Those are some seriously premium features for that price! Neck thru?! Active preamp?! Friggin’ OVANKOL?! Are you kidding me?!!! HB absolutely killing it!
The pickup angles are backwards from what I would want. Normally you’d want more definition on the lower strings and more sweetness on the upper strings
I have the older version and have been looking for some 4 string recently. Sadly nothing compares to that quality/price from other brands. Sadly, because I'd love to try some spector or fender just for fun and variety. I guess, a 4 string HBZ it is.
I bought the fretless version and it's amazing... for the money! In terms of build quality mine has a few rough bits - some bits of the wood have deep tool marks, but nothing that affecs playability and not visible unless you have it in your hands. One thing I will say is that the bridge has a really REALLY sharp corner that could easily cut your arm or hand. For the sake of just filing the edge it's a cost-cutting move too far, but hey. The nut is awful but I'd say if you budget for a really good setup and maybe a new bridge you have a very VERY playable intrument.
Thank you again for this great review, nice playing too!! Another Bass i have never seen on your Chanel is the Warwick Alien Hybrid Thinline series, it wou,d be so nice to see a demo of those very interesting basses with their just 80mm thick bodies and dual pickup’s ..😊
Well the bass came in and it looks beautiful. I have an issue with the bridge. It is very sharp and when lowering your forearm to slap, the sharp edge stabs my forearm, and is painful and uncomfortable. The bass volume is low compared to my other 5 strings, Lakeland, Spector, Ernie Ball Musicman, and Warwick. The sound is rather muddy compared. I thought I give this bass a chance, since I was looking for a 5 string Washburn Taurus T-25. Might return.
Does anyone know of pickups that would fit this? The stock ones are so weirdly shaped, and placed, so it looks almost impossible to replace them with something better sounding.
I know there is a drop in replacement for it, I saw online the other day, but it was some brand I'd never heard of. I'm pretty sure Bartolini makes one in those dimensions. You want to look for 6 string bass pickups. I have this bass, obviously. :)
A little off topic here but I've owned a Fame Baphomet 5 from Musicstore koeln in Germany for the past 20 years, have you never had the curiosity to review that brand?
when im recording a song i find no need for bass player i just use bass simulators turning my guitar into 8 string bass 12 string and sound better in the recording then with the 4 string bass i have. you have to play guitar like a bass, change your way of playing guitar, but it rocks back in the day local h Scot Lucas had bass pickups added to his strat with 2 output jacks so he could play drone bass and guitar same time there is no bass player in the band 2 man drummer guitar /bass player singer to day no need pedals amp simulators turn your guitars into bass and you can stomp back inforth from guitar to bass with pedals and loopers evven giving both at once

The difference is probably so negligible it’s not really a loss.
This channel is my happy place!
I have the 4 string version of this bass. Absolutely LOVE it!
A beautiful looking and sounding bass. Thanks for the commentary and playing. All the best.

The active ceramic pickups are a nice feature. I like basses with a natural wood finish. Thanks for the demo.

These are basically peavey grinds inspired basses which are made in the same factory the real deal is/was made afaik
I've got the fretless version and i love it.
I bought it today. No more questions. I will let you know and I am getting one of your t-shirts and subscribing. TY

J&D Have the same design of this bass, and I already 10 years using it. And its still awesome!
Aaah welcome back Rene'!

Unfortunately you won't get the quality of a Sandor or Music Man in this price range. The comparison is lacking many dollars ;)

YAY RENE IS BACK
Can someone please tell me the name of the song Rene plays? Thank you!!
How's the weight ?
It's nice. Not too heavy.
This bass looks awesome, thank you
This is almost identical to my peavey grind5👍🏽
Inexpensive basses are getting better and better!🤘🤘🤘
I'm asking for 37-34 inch multiscale 5-string.
I feel like the pickups should be slanted the other way.
I always love to start my day with a BassTheWorld video. I love to hear the way Gregor pronounces his own name. God love these fabulous East Germans !
I just wish it came in another colour other than Driftwood
I ❤Gregor, i ❤ René , I ❤Harley Benton bass .
The electronics on my were noisier than a bee hive.
I have, i play it, i love it 🎉😅

We did 1 Fame video many many years ago. Usually the brands reach out to us and ask us to demo their stuff. Haven’t heard from them ever since
Wow thats look like jnd 2100 bass
if you compare the hardware, a 800 euro cort is cheaper and cleaner
The opening jam is fabulous.
I think you are making a bad review because Rene makes everything sound great and sound like 'himself' 😂😂😂
Pretty damn sexy bass 🤟😎🤟
No one asks: Where are the Woods from, a plantation, out of a Rain Forest? How are the Work Conditions for the Builders, how are they paid and so on?
Home Depot
Ya thinkin to hard
this is the case with every product sold.
Modern people looking for problems where there are none.
The reson they can get good features for the money is because it is a housebrand belonging to thomann

let's just replace all drummers with drum machines and samples too, and guitarists with autoharps or synths. what an asinine comment
If you can just simulate bass lines in your music like that, you know what what it says about bass lines in your music ;)
👍👍👌
can this guy even play bass. Never seen him play a single note
