While the at home measurement process is done with a little bit of handholding and it's very intuitive there is still risk you can get it wrong. Luckily most of these companies will make it right in order to satisfy their fit guarantees. Proper Cloth is one of the better known made to measure shirt companies. They offer dress and casual shirts as well as outerwear and coats. This is not my first experience but I am interested to keep trying and get it right!
This video is not sponsored, I am unboxing on camera because I love the brand and want to share better menswear with the world. Have a product you would like me to review? Comment below or email info@thekavalier.net

I couldn't stop laughing at the lavender shirt.
There's a T-Rex out there looking for his shirt.
This has got to be the best shirt review I have ever watched. It transcends a clothing review and goes straight hilarious reviews.
I wiped tears from my eyes from laughing so much! That shirt would fit Peter Dinklage... Very nice review and the fit of the pro measured shirt looks amazing.
Congrats to your creation of the new sleeve length, lol.... great post. My greatest concern about ordering my own measurements online is what you experienced as well... but I will keep this video in mind. Thank you for sharing
I'm looking forward to future MTM reviews. I'm curious to see what else is out there.. I hope you review the Tailor Store.
Great review! I've been wondering about the quality of proper cloth. Kavalier, what's your opinion on higher end shirt mills like Tessitura Monti and Thomas Mason compared to the proper cloth and ledbury? I've been wondering if it's worth paying $30-$50 more per shirt with such a fabric?
I've got quite a few orders from them. I dialed it in myself and now they all come perfect. I'm pretty much only going to use them from now on (high clv here haha).
Wow! That in-store measured shirt looks great! I appreciate this video! Where you able to remember how the tailor took your measurements? I noticed he had you bend your arm at the elbow to take the measurement for the sleeve.
It is funny that they actually did that sleeve that short. lol. Even if you inputed the wrong measurements I will said that the should call you and confirm that there is a problem with your arms.
Every carpenter knows this rule: "Measure twice. Cut once." .... but apart from that, it's not up to a MTM shirt company to question measurements. Think how awkward it would be if you were born with short or deformed arms, how would you like to be asked if you made a mistake?
actually it is exactly their job to question measurements. It's called having a good customer service and making sure your client is getting what they want. People can make mistakes during this process and your argument is quite absurd. They aren't judging but simply double checking and if that's what you want, than that's it. not awkward at all.
@@Mr-R.R. Exactly.
LMAO! I lost it when I saw the arm on that shirt, that is way to funny. Just when you think you have seen it all lol.
I cracked up at the lilac shirt 🤣🤣🤣
Can you please do a video on the best fitting men's dress slacks? I am skinny as well and 6'-3" so I would appreciate the help!
Hahahahaha haha. I really needed that laugh! Thank you!
Aside from the hobbit sleeves, that lavender shirt's collar is fantastic! Great Italian vibes to it...
The lillac shirt is nice, which model is these shirt?
The white shirt looks really sharp 👍👏👏
That is a beautiful shirt and it looks amazing on you.
I literally laughed out loud when u showed me that pink shirt
Hey the lavender shirt fit could be a new trend, No kidding!
Thinking of buying one of these MTM shirts so your videos struck my interest. In a earlier life I was straight up and down like yourself, but the years have added a few pounds. My question is regarding the measuring since it seems so crucial. Rather than have the pink shirt experience would a person be better off just being professionally measured, and if so would you simply look under tailors in your area? Being that men add weight/pounds in the belly area are both your waist and midsection measured and if so do you have any videos on this important step in getting the process correct as possible. Thanks again, George
Proper cloth has a nice measurement engine that will show when your measurements look "out of bounds". I think you can accomplish a great fit measuring yourself at home with a partner, I've been able to do that with most companies I tried.
man, that pink shirt, that's something special.... maybe you could start a new trend with it...
Real men wear pink
Lmaoooo I can’t believe that pink shirt.
Do you dry clean your dress shirts, nothing like a crisp shirt.
I’m 6’5 and closer to 180. Also live in nyc, will try them out going in to get measured. Great video and don’t be so ashamed of the T-Rex arms!!!
How would you compare this with Charles Tyrwhitt shirts?
I was fucking dying when you showed that purple shirt. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the video. Helped me make up my mind as to trying Proper Cloth.
What other companies were you considering? I want to make sure I cover the most demanded ones
For custom shirts, I was also thinking of Suit Supply and Knot Standard.
I laughed to death when I saw the pink one. 🤣
lol TK, their computer system should have prevented you, that way both you and them would have to check. funny tho. you could still wear it custom rolled up sleeve look haha
Did they do like the shoulder to cuff measurement as the entire sleeve?
They did as entire sleeve. Looking at my measurements I was somehow 10 inches short but most of the companies I have sent measurements in usually do a "fit check" if something looks askew. Guess I was just expecting too much handholding!
The Kavalier I mean an inch or two but to be 10 inches....I mean that warrants an email for confirmation, minimum! Like anything outside a 31-39 inch window for total length should be confirmed imo.
😂🤣😂🤣 that first shirt
I received my oxford shirt today. Wow, the quality just screams. I’m going to buy more.
Dude what type of physical are you if you don't mind me asking!
have you ever ordered from Ratio Clothing? I have a few of their shirts and I'm curious how you'd compare their quality to Proper Cloth.
+Meag Media should have my shirt by the end of the month!
Lol. Purple shirt man. Roll those sleeves. That should take care of the shortcomings.
I buy my husband proper cloth all the time, he loves it!
Have you tried Amazon's Goodthreads or Buttoned Down shirts yet? They seem like an affordable way to quickly build a wardrobe, just not sure if it's too good to be true.

The Kavalier thanks for the reply. not sure how I missed that video, I thought I was diligent in my video watching on your channel.
Hahahaha....thats so funny. Ive watched it few times also...
I have a tailor. He’s agreed to take all my measurements and fill in the questionnaire. Seems like a logical solution. 😊
I dont understand this review. He measured himself and ordered the wrong size and then compared it to a in store measurement/purchase.
Videos on your different clothing collections?
Yes I want to do some capsule style videos. On the slate for fall
Ever try Modern Tailor?
+Jared Adelson should be here by the end of the month
Any chance you could do a video where you review all of these guys as part of a MTM shirt round up? I'm really curious how Deo Veritas fared against PC.
+Evan Bosco yes just waiting on a few more to be delivered
The Kavalier did you ever do a video of all the MTM dress shirts? Could you do a updated for 2018? Great content btw!
Last a few wears? How many times do you wear a shirt before you're done with it?
Most of my shirts last 5+ years. Dozens of wears and many washes
@@The_Kavalier Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. That helps me understand what kind of quality to look for.
LMAO!
I work a front desk at a museum and run into people who have degenerative arms all the time. It's not crazy to think the system just though you had a condition where one arm is shorter than the other and needed a custom shirt because of that.
Yes very true! but inputting height and weight most companies have checks for unusual measurements like that just to verify.
That is the beauty of MTM, everyone can get the perfect fit!
lol thats lavender shirt its ridiculous
You want shirts that last a few wears? What's a few in your opinion? 10?
6'4 at 170 lbs? Yeah, it is difficult to fit anything on a stick
Why is that band collar shirt really baggy on you?
That's an "off the rack" shirt I had just opened...didn't go get it tailored yet ;-)
I love Proper Cloth, I won't buy off the rack anymore. My shirt was perfect, why waste time and money? I'm now a believer, you get what you pay for
Unbelievable. That is hilarious. Maybe you just invented the next big fad!
the neck of your shirt is too big
😂😂😂
Why are you wearing that shirt.
Did you lose a bet or something
Still way to much cloth bunched up with in store measured shirt. Shirt stays to the rescue again.
The Tailor Store emailed me because they felt I provided a sleeve length that was 2 inches too long. I took their word and went with the recommended length they calculated based on the other measurements I gave them. The shirt fit perfectly.
I can't believe Proper Cloth didn't reach out to you prior to making that shirt. Ugh. That's enough for me to disqualify them.
