  • On March 30, the flight test program of the Il-112V light military transport aircraft, which was built under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, resumed from the pre-pandemic test schedule. The flight was carried out at the airfield of the Voronezh aircraft building enterprise
During the flight, the operating modes of the engines, the stability and controllability of the aircraft, and the operation of its main systems were checked. The flight lasted about 30 minutes and went on as usual. According to the crew commander, the flight mission was completed.
First Deputy General Director of PJSC UAC, Managing Director of PJSC Il Sergey Yarkovoy said that quote “From the moment of the first flight, during which the main aerodynamic characteristics were checked, all aircraft systems were refined and work was carried out to reduce the weight of the aircraft, which made it possible to transfer the aircraft to the stage of preliminary tests conducted jointly with the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, production is being prepared for serial production of up to 12 aircraft per year, which will satisfy the needs of the Ministry of Defense for military transport aircraft of this type and ensure a steady load of the enterprise,”
The Il-112V light military transport aircraft is designed for the transportation and airborne landing of personnel, weapons, light military equipment and other cargo with a maximum weight of 5 tons. Il-112V will replace the outgoing fleet of An-26 aircraft.
The key advantage of the aircraft is the possibility of autonomous operation from unequipped airfields and unpaved strips. Il-112V will be able to operate in the most difficult climatic conditions. Cruising speed - 470 kilometres per hour. The flight range with maximum load is 1200 kilometres.
Il-112V will be equipped with domestic components. Most of them are manufactured by the structures of the State Corporation Rostec: the engines are created by the United Engine Corporation, the automated control system is supplied by KRET, and the chassis, hydraulic elements and the power supply system are developed by the Technodinamika holding.
The aircraft was designed using advanced digital technologies and is equipped with the most modern Russian-made onboard systems. The flight and navigation equipment will provide the ability to automatically approach categorized aerodromes at a minimum of ICAO Category II and manual approach to poorly equipped and radioactively unequipped aerodromes.
