  • Another tough nut to crack. I thought it'd be a good idea to put this up since Kyou's Scales are highly sought-after given the jobs that use it (BRD, GEO, COR) find themselves with a lot of cards after a campaign... but no scales to +3 their AF gear.
    Even after all this time I see group after group wiping to Kyou since they are not fully aware of its mechanics or how to defeat them. Let's see if this video can't help out there.

    pet job setup is really easy for kyou. ( or any omen boss)
    just bring 2x pup tanks and sacrifice them alternatively. have the pups hold him at 90 degree angles from each other, and facing AWAY from the the party. i
    Then you smn and bst and corsair tear him down at their liesure. Geo just keeps the bubbles up.
    f you put the pups in a separate party, then you don't even need to worry about meteor either. just make sure puppet masters are 30' away and it won't even hit the other party members.

    A silly, but effective low man strat for this NM (since trusts have a difficult time being aligned for bravado, much less surviving without trust campaign) is using tank, whm, DD. The tank just holds enough hate to keep Kyou off the whm, DD goes ham to the side, steals hate, and eats bravado solo, then the WHM arises. Repeat until dead, although at 10%, the tank can eat the last bravado if the DD can finish off the NM as by the end, any trusts are usually dead due to meteor/cursga.

    While this strategy works, and is quick. Your video puts this mob into a box that seems like it can only be killed by a 1 houred BRD and MNK. I've killed this mob so many different ways, stack, sac, puppet tanks. One thing people should also know, Diminuendo has a 10 yalm radius, but Bravado has a 14.9 yalm conal. There is a safe spot for your mages to stay in, that wont get them cursed, but can still soak up the 10k conal.

      for this particular strategy a MNK is required, nothing more nothing less, its you and others who have created a narrative that this video is demanding a MNK take a slot in every party

    Something I cant take credit for coming up with, but the Poseidon's Ring allow all jobs to summon a water spirit making bravado laughable and simpler to low-man with trusts

    It's a shame he as avoidance down. It would be nice to be able to save Invincible for anytime he uses his cursega at the worst possible moment on a Paladin with capped Parry, Evade and Shield instead of Hundred Fists.

    Never did like zerging kyou. 2-4 back to back bravados with a poorly timed curse or meteor mixed in before the whm can recover often leads to wipes. Should also mention to help with petrify to have the whm barpetra/stonra

    The LS I used to do omen with did this with two PLDs, two SMNs (sometimes replacing one SMN with SCH) COR and WHM. The WHM was actually a bot, one of the SMN’s alts. And we had two tanks because they were expected to die lol. Probably not the most efficient strategy if it includes people dying, but it worked.

    MNK is very far from "mandatory" in this fight. The easiest way is to not need to bring mnk is to remember this is not a race and you don't have to zerg it down.
    Proper use of Ascension + Divine Caress makes the threat of getting cursed minimal, only the tank has to worry about it. Support jobs that don't have proper DD sets can /smn to add extra bodies. DNC is an amazing DD here since it can double has a backup healer. Hell this is a great fight to start teaching DDs that they can cure their own ailments, something that really helps WHMs out. It's not like holy waters are expensive.
    Basically, there's plenty of much more newb friendly Kyou strats than this one, none of which have "MANDATORY" mnks or BRD SPs. And this video looks like it's catered toward newer players so I thought I'd bring that up.

    MNK is nowhere near "mandatory", I have killed this with so many setups including a BLU tank (which can also build for countering if wanted, capped rate with many diff buffs also) and a PLD tank.
    Have also healed on a SMN and RDM, which is more beneficial than WHM due to their other benefits like Dia III or avatar soaking dmg. He isn't that bad DMG wise when you have carols/enfeebles on and when you watch for % and curse. Really just makes people exclude all other jobs when it isn't necessary, they see these types of videos and demand a MNK afterwards. While it is most likely the optimal choice for tank/DD, it isn't necessary/mandatory and the setup can be rearranged depending on what you have available.

    • @SplitFinn
      @SplitFinn  4 роки тому +6

      Alright, I'll indulge you. There's some good in here.
      BLU can function yes, but it's still better used as a pure DPS with some utility spells set (BLU in this video was using White Wind after Bravado). Mantra is simply too good to pass up when everyone has to take damage, it can literally save a run especially if Cursega lands or someone falls mid-battle.
      I am having a VERY hard time seeing SMN or RDM being a better healer than WHM. Dia III is a moot point when Dia II and Geo-Frailty/Fury cap PDIF without even trying. Kyou will also be Erasing all your Enfeebling Magic often so good luck fitting that in on top of your solo healing. Besides, what does RDM even have for AoE healing... Curaga II from /WHM? You might as well bring a SCH for Regen V, Embrava and Accession Stoneskin/Cure IV spam to deal with Bravado.
      I mention SMN being a Support option as well, I've seen it done but just did not capture footage of it. I'm actually really keen to see SMN used in more of a support DPS capacity as I think the potential is there.
      This is 'A strategy' and not 'THE strategy'. I went out of my way in my dialogue to say "the ideal setup for this strategy gives you some room to move" and I meant it. I strongly suggested what has served me very well but also encouraged people to see what they can do with it.

      I agree with what you said about MNK, it's a good choice for this due to Mantra and counter but to say it's "mandatory" is a step to far. Not sure I agree that RDM and SMN would be necessarily more beneficial than WHM though, especially for this, and especially if you're killing fast as when faced with Amnesa and Unfaltering Bravado x2 in close succession RDM and SMN will find themselves unable to recoup the HP in time for the 2nd Unfaltering.

    • @ImmortalDraylo
      @ImmortalDraylo 4 роки тому +3

      @@SplitFinn Not sure why you would say "I'll indulge you", you're better than to stoop to aggressively/passive aggressively attacking any kind of opposition. I'm also a sub to your channel so no need to be defensive.
      You can time when he does his 10k needles move, especially when you have minimal amounts of DD attacking him. Mantra is mostly a moot point when you have dark carols on and perhaps an entrusted attunement in addition to most DD/tanks having Malignance. Anyone can easily remove the curse with holy water or cursna before the mentioned % that he does the WS. It isn't something that be considered mandatory by any means to have the HP boost.
      I'm not sure why you think a RDM or SMN would suffer to main heal, I have done this NM so many times and merc'd it so many times and have never used a WHM for it mostly because I find SMN to be more beneficial. RDM can also offer superior DD option and enfeebles in addition to the Dia III. I just don't see WHM being optimal use for this outside of if the party is not very good. While he will be erasing your enfeebles, a RDM can easily keep them up everytime he does a WS. If you are using only 1 DD (perhaps a SMN as additional DD) you won't be feeding him that much TP, especially if that DD is a MNK. It depends on the support you bring, if the tank is a BLU they can white wind, if the support is a SMN they can AOE heal with the avatar, there are many options.
      I understand you are suggesting what you think is most optimal, but you specifically said in your video that MNK was "mandatory" and I hate seeing bandwagon jobs promoted even more so that everyone excludes any other job. If anyone has questions about what other setups have worked, let me know and I'll tell you. I have never even brought WHM to this boss outside of the first few times doing it.

    I assume this is aimed at groups just starting Omen? I have killed this thing hundreds of times and never once with a MNK needing to mantra or 1 hour brd songs. I’m sure you can as well but should probably preface the video with the targeted audience even though more experienced players likely aren’t looking for this type of video anyways.
