good stuff. one more tip i'd like to add is the Artisan Moogle. every Earth day they give out a free warp scroll, which is handy if you getting around alot and the warp ring isn't ready yet. they also offer something called Mog Sack for a small fee, which is a 1 time purchase for an additional inventory bag. the size of this bag will mirror the size of your inventory, but if im not wrong you will need to talk to the moogle to increase the size if you recently upgraded the gobbiebag also not sure if its obvious but people have lots of storage slots in the form of /bank (mog house) /case (mog case) and /wardrobe1 & 2 (mog wardrobe)
@christophernoy6387 They're still up, and FFXI might have had it's most transformative updates in over a decade not too long ago. While they're slowing development down again, it wouldn't surprise me if the game still holds for a long time.

Besides sparks, you can use unity accolates to buy prize powder and sell these to an npc like the shield. If you sell for capped sparks and accolates, you can get 2 mil ish gil pr week by doing the daily and other records of emminence. So gil will be less of an issue.
Hey, veteran player here, hope you don’t mind me adding a few things extra. In my opinion one of the best home points to set is HP#2 in Eastern Adoulin (H-10). This Home Point is right next to a survival guide, waypoint, auction house (and delivery services), Gobbie mystery box and your Mog house (and by extension, your Mog garden). The only thing it doesn’t really have close by is a vendor for selling junk in your inventory. As for exp rings, you should still keep your Empress Band once you get the Echad ring as you can use this once the first one wears off. I’d also suggest using Login Points on Caliber rings if you have nothing else to spend them on. You can send them to your delivery box to get around the rare restriction and stack them up. Last thing is, while this isn’t necessarily for new players as you won’t have a lot of Gil, unlock the ‘Bank’ in your Mog garden to store excess Gil. If you play the game for long enough you’ll accumulate millions and it’s nice to store it somewhere outside your main inventory in case you have any ‘accidents’ bidding on the auction house!
Not at all, the more tips in the comments the better. I'm trying to make FFXI as accessible as possible for no players, but I'm a new player myself. So my advice won't be nearly as helpful as you vets. Thanks for the tips!
@@EyelessWolf_ Welcome back! That's awesome to hear. It's a very different game than it was, but there are so many great things to do. Thanks for reaching out and leaving the feedback!
Something major I notice everyone misses is that the game has an instruction manual. It is astounding how many problems/questions some people had that could be solved by using it back when the manual was physical. Menu button, menu button, Help desk-> Adventuring primer will bring up the manual for you.
Good video. The main difficulty for new players is to know how to make the most of their time. Going into more details about Records of Eminence might help to give insight into what is best to activate for sparks/xp. Also worth mentioning instant reraise and instant warp scrolls from the conquest point guards, they are extremely useful in the early game.
Phenomenal vid, I've played sporadically since U.S. release a couple decades ago. I was thinking about getting back into again, and this vid really pumped me up for it!

Most important tip for starting player is to not try to play this game with mouse. Its the keyboard (or pad) only game. You move with WASD and control camera with arrow keys. For veteran player like me its something so natural, that I wouldn't think about it even, but I noticed few post from starting players where they were saying, that they have huge problem with control system and after few questions it was clear they trying to use mouse.

AH, I miss the days before the sparks were capped. We used to look foward to "GAIN EXP" to where we would meet in Escha-Zitah. I would bring my Beastmaster and help AOE mobs. Cap the sparks and cash out. Rinse and repeat. That became my primary source of gil. Once they capped sparks, I had to start grinding Omen for Crystals and Leviathan Fights for Beitetsu. That's how I currently make gil.
Nice piece of work here, buddy. I must say the Chocobo traversal looks so much smoother than in XVI. I really didn’t like the mounted mechanics in there, so clunky.

I think in coming back they really have made the game a lot easier in the 1 to 99 process at least, the only thing I upgraded was my weapon, I got to 99 worrying the original armor, trust are amazing, and as I am not a big social player, it was great for myself.

Supernova is one of the best private servers. Faster exp, movement speed, exp. There’s still a grind, but it’s not going to take you years to beat the game
@@paddy1144 retail allows you to play the game with NPC characters. I’ll stick to what the game was originally intended to be played with- only other players
The big problem is the devs took too long to stop all the RMT in the early years that added billions of gil to the game that ruined the economy.Currency is never any good for a newer player because you might make more than we did 15+ years ago but your also paying 20+ more the original costs. Leveling is not difficult at all with book burns meaning you do the same book page multiple times because it increases xp the more times you do it.There is actually a problem with leveling too fast and that is your weapon skills and magic skills will fall behind your levels meaning you will miss a lot more. The Sparks system is definitely a must because you can get free gear until at least level 50 then free weapons beyond that.IMO something not talked about it to get Dancer as soon as you can which is level 30'ish because with Dancer you have free access to Sneak/Invis which is invaluable. The best trust 1-50 is actually the ranger I forget her name she destroys enemies with early use of Sidewinder a level 55 weapon skill.Yes your first Trust should be Velaineral she is the best early tank. You also want to use your gil you get by trading Sparks Archeron shields to attain the quests for expanding your backpack sizes via an npc in lower Jueno as mentioned by the video. I strongly reccommend trying your best to keep your skills up because so many people just power level then wait and skillup later which is extremely boring.
game should be back as it was in 2002-2008 and no more than lvl75 CAP with Zilart , Promathia , Aht Urghan and maybe wing of the goddess . after that the game is BROKEN !!!!!
There is a major flaw that won't help anyone that is newish to the game. The game branches out in so many directions with so little information without having to spend hours in google searches. So people will hit a wall and then the same old every time >>WHAT DO I DO NOW? The guides you can find after hours searching are sort of useful to a point but they really never cater to YOU and how you want to play or helping you make the decisions that makes you most happy they are just generalized paths. So then it gets more complicated because WHAT GEAR do I need or should I get there is tons of it.Then how do i get it more hours spent searching/reading. IMO they botched up the intrigued of the game when they went past 75 it got too big and became more of a WOW 2.0 spending all your time farming dungeons INSTANCE dungeons. IDK what they should have done post 75 but I felt the pace was fine so that any new jobs added would have some longevity but they botched that up with Abyssea and instant max level players in one day. So once the old team left the NEW direction which I also did not like in FFXIV was imo bad design decisions it began to feel more like Blizzard/Wow all about item level gear scores.
You must not be familiar with modern gearing. Gearing in modern FFXI is almost entirely horizontal, not vertical like WoW or FF14. iLvl is irrelevant in endgame to be honest because all of the gear you'll interact with will be at ilvl 119 with very few exceptions. You're right that it can be overwhelming for new players, but it's also really easy to explain to new players. To get into endgame, the first set of weapons and armor to work towards are Ambuscade gear. After that, work on one of the 5 ultimate weapons (Relic, Mythic, Empyrean, Aeonic, and Prime). For armor, work on one of the JSE armor sets (Artifact, Relic, Empyrean). To get many of these will likely require involvement in dozens of different content types from instanced to open world.
Should of added a tip to stay away from Asura lol Sure, it may be the most populated server but literally nobody wants to do anything so they pay mercs to do content for them
You sure can. I bought it off steam, but you can buy it and download it off it's own website too. Over the 20 years, Square has crafted a masterpiece here with one of the best stories of all time, a phenomenal combat system, and an insane amount of interesting things to do.
