Honestly, this is one of the reasons why Empire is so broken. This is only possible because virtually the entirety of France is one huge region, which is absolutely horrendous from a strategic point of view. Even Britain is more suitably divided.
@@JonatasAdoM Medieval II's France is a slog to fight primarily due to it's extremely strategic position. They also have a hell lot of provinces, possibly more than HRE in the mid-game.

I love total war, but after playing Europa Universalis 4 for so long it's so bizarre to be seeing giant nations like France to be only 2 provinces big and can be annexed in just one war.
Yeah! I don't know why they decided to make France one region, but they did and that allowed this to happen. I preferred how they did it in Napoleon Total War where France was broken up into several regions, making a trick of this sort impossible.

The lack of regions was a deliberately chosen design intended to limit the amount of sieges and encourage the more dynamic (and imo more fun) open battles. That being said the entire thing backfired spectacularly.
He was doing that. That’s why he set the cannon where he did. Empire had a goofy AI that was supposed to emulate warfare of the period, so AI armies would place an emphasis on holding a line, with appropriate troops/cavalry on the flanks. However, if the flank unit was damaged, the AI would try to swap its position with a stronger unit - usually the unit on the other side of the line. So the whole army would switch sides, and back again, over and over, if you piled up units on one side and damaged the other. The only real way to do it is with artillery.
At least the AI wasn't on the attacker's side. Then they would have charged his line with their general first while the remaining army is lagging behind.
@@3st3st77 Yeah! The army has no idea how to use cavalry so 9 times out of 10 they just exhaust themselves just getting to my line, where about 3 line infantry divisions can wear them down before they even reach a melee, and my troops have ages to get into a square formation. AI is crap in ETW.
I think this detroys the essence of the game. I used to destroy all of France buildings and then let them rebel and reclaim their capital. My goal was always to dominate my enemy not make them dissapear. My most fun game was when I as Russia blockaded all of GB ports in Europe. After a while they started to starve and I was able to get every single one of their colonies for a peace deal. Made my day.
My favorite moment was burning down all of France for fifty years and having them come crawling to me to become a protectorate and having a revolution immediately after. The game then immediately crashed and corrupted because E:TW
As sweden at st petersburg i made 5 or 6 forts with full stacks and superior tech. I left the Russians to their own devices and didnt push farther south but anything that came that way was obliterated.

Just trade the province with your protectorate and trade it right back if they let you. It will get rid of the unrest. Somehow.. If they don't accept to give the province back, you should be able to integrate the colonial nation anyways.
but all the good generals will be gone and u can basicly just destroy everything in france in the one turn so it would be easyer to manage as it would become half as powerfull and the colonial game would be all yours.
one trick for the battle. you can promote one general for every unit. so you can fill with your starting army with 7 general units before the battle, it's still free battle units at an expensive cost but useful
All the little details that added depth to Europe came later with Napoleon Total War, arguably the polished successor to Empire, despite only focusing on Europe. Sort of how the native american DLC cuts out the rest of the game and fleshes out North America interior.

What I also like to do is to create huge pop corn armies with generals with Ottomans, invading Austria and then completely destroy all Western Europe, Russia and all Europe and then it also destroys colonies also. Then I destroy all buildings and cities and give some to Barbary States. So if other countries are destroyed, I stay the stronger, while I'm developping my empire by remplacing many cities that have coffees, madrasas, textile by all making them universities to increase my technology. And then I only build the madrasas in European destroyed states to produce imams to then convert the european population and I also change the buildings culture. I do that for decreasing rebellions against me. After all, I also send an Ottoman Army to Americas for destroying the US, cuz they can get powerful fastly after been independant.

Not funny at all -_- I'm a beginner so I I didnt want to lose the first 10 turns. Even if I watched a lot of videos on it. Now I'm with Russia. Only missing 2 territories. Istanbul and Vilnius. Prussia only has 1 territory lol. France just lost France to Austria-_- Netherlands has been removed for a while but are now back. The Mughal empire was also destroyed but now is back. I will try to conquer the Mughal empire to exchange the territory with the one in Turkey. I already tried with carabbean Islande and they don't want -_-. Next campaign will be Prussia but as Germany with germany's flag so a republic. In very hard/very hard world domination campaign. It will be hard it we consider that even with all the territories I have with Russia. I'm second in prestige behind marathy confederation.

In 1 turn impossible.

Wealth in the game is just net worth not total wealth... Cuba has 3 high yield plantations... When you finish the mission, of New Spain joining after invading Texas & Trinidad, you will see the silver mines... also the 13 colonies were stuck with just farms. The Dutch have a special trade ship, but the Spanish trade ship Galleon is a bit stronger. Both cost as much as a fourth rate ship of the line, but with less guns & same hull. You will see trade nodes near the barrier by Northwest Iceland & SW Morocco. Both trade ships have a high upkeep too. Trade is based on supply & demand. Silver & gold mines have set values. Modern university only in HQ. Dutch capitol have least overall towns. Modern university only available for the Capitol Hill so USA also worse off in the "Road to Independence" tutorial campaign.
In 1700 the United Province of the Seven Netherlands controlled around 80% of trade and had a navy nearly bigger than the next two nations (GB and Fr) combined. Their army qas moderately sized. Strong enough to beat Sweden 1v1 easily. The VOC was the largest company to ever exist. Think if modern China was a Dutch company. The Netherlands deserved to be stronger, at least economically, than the game portrays them Great Briton on the otherhand was number 2 at the time, and only through a Franko-British union was able to wither away at the UP through three wars.

I don't think that battle would be won on any difficulty other than easy, where the AI get negative stats on their units.
Completely agree, also mounted yeomanry cannot route that many units that quickly.
