This will not work with T1 Macbooks meaning 2016 and 2017 Macbook Pros both 13 and 15 inch. Reason being that you will be prompted to connect to the internet to install a critical update. I did this method in this video on a 2015 Macbook Air after finding it mentioned on Stack Exchange. I just left WiFi disconnected. 2018 and on are T2 up until M1 silicon Macs in 2020 and you will definitely not be able to get around MDM in any way at all. Hence your video title is wrong. Hi can you please help me out with my macbook air 2017 ? I did the factory reset and now it asks for password for remote management Can you please help me?
This doesn’t remove the lock from Apple’s servers, so every time you need to reinstall the OS, you have to do this process. However, when updating macOS, the hosts file isn’t touched, so you can update it as much as you want. :)
The MDM configuration has already been applied to your system, so you’ll need to reinstall macOS from a USB device to install without an internet connection.

Even my birth certificate and ss card is gone. But let’s just say this chick wouldn’t think twice about falsely accusing any ex of 9:44 hers of ANYTHING even tho she was the hoochie behind the back. Falsely accused an ex of the R word and laughed and admitted one night while out drinking. I laughed but it scared tf outta me. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Will the commands work in the terminal of the install? Sonoma has me locked out of the desktop.
can this work for employee mdm locked iMac ?
Yes, it works on all kinds of MDM locked devices. I don’t know your situation, but it’s best to contact your employer to make sure they can’t remove the lock first.
Thank you!!
Hi can you please help me out with my macbook air 2017 ?
I did the factory reset and now it asks for password for remote management
Can you please help me?
Follow the tutorial in the video, this applies to you. :)
Thanks for replying, I did but it did not work 😓
How far do you get? I assume the step you're on means that you've gotten past installing macOS?
@@MattsTech yes I have installed it and now while trying to set it up it shows the Remote Management and asks for a password
I am stuck here
And you're setting up the Mac without internet the entire time, I assume?
Hello Matt's Tech I just wanna know if its permanent fix?
This doesn’t remove the lock from Apple’s servers, so every time you need to reinstall the OS, you have to do this process. However, when updating macOS, the hosts file isn’t touched, so you can update it as much as you want. :)
@@MattsTech noted. thanks Man for the great work.
it fails to erase the physical disk any troupleshoots?
this is almost my last step someone help plz i already formatted usb and have a macOS on there
im stuck and it wont let me erase the disk in the vid someone plz help
You might have to use terminal to erase the disk, and while I don’t remember the commands to do that off-hand, google and ye shall find!
@@MattsTech i cant access the terminal either unfortunately 😅😅😅😅
If you can’t access the terminal, then your install media is broken, as all media has the terminal built-in. Try redownloading a new copy of macOS.
unfortunately they have removed the 3 option which allow to setup without internet
The MDM configuration has already been applied to your system, so you’ll need to reinstall macOS from a USB device to install without an internet connection.
@@MattsTech What if the usb install give me "Macos sonoma not compatible with this mac" even though it is?
Does it work om macbook air 2020?
Pre-T2 Macs are from 2017 and earlier (including the 2019 iMac). No Mac that is currently supported right now with macOS Sonoma, excluding the 2019 iMac, is a Pre-T2 model.
My etc file was in root, not at system/library and I am running Big Sur also
That file should not be there, that's really odd...
Not sure what's going on with that.
@@MattsTech So my hosts file was located @ /etc/hosts so I did as you said. It has lasted through am upgrade to 11.7.7 and a time machine move as well and it has so far held up! Question, If I get a replacement logic board, do I just delete all that and save?
Is this method working on m1 chips ?
I don’t think so, unfortunately.
To continue the process MacBook need a connection with internet 😢
You might not have grabbed the right installer, some smaller ones require an internet connection. Make sure you grabbed the full installer, they should be on Apple's website.
Will this work on an iMac?
Depends on the model, though if it's a Pre-T2 model, yes!
can i upgrade the OS after this ?
You should be able to, yes. Though any Pre-T2 Mac lost support anyways.
when I attempt to type commends telling me there no auch file or directory
Try cd /System instead of cd System
Not working. Help please.
my imac doesn’t have a usb port ):
Hi buddy, you got stuck?
My bypass recovery would never be successful without their support and hard work. i feel blessed to work with such an incredible and talented person like *Strategic techies* I knew they could do this…
Sorry i can’t post their direct contact, just look up the highlighted name above
I LOVE YOU
Fire 🔥 it worked
Hi buddy, you got stuck?
This is old solution which doesn’t work on latest MacBooks but i got the latest solution which can bypass any and i mean any MacBook even M3 Pro Max
That makes sense, this is an older video! :)
Why not just replace the hard drive??
No matter what drive is in the computer, when it talks to Apple’s servers, it’ll download the configuration file to the Mac, and lock it.
Hi Matt, Fantastic video… I have a question, whether this fix same for any future OS updates . Or it’s a onetime fix
I tried doing this and still couldn't get it right. Can I just send you my laptop and you do it for me? I"ll pay you.
I do not offer that service, I apologize.
profiles status type enrollment doesnt output anything to terminal... help
It should output _something,_ at least. Did you do this before connecting to the internet?
I did the erasing of the disk, when I click to install Ventura, I get an error message that says “An Internet connection is required to install macOS”
You will need to find an image of Ventura that does not require an internet connection, some are only stubs that download it with an internet connection.
@@MattsTech if I use something like Big Sur instead, will none of them require an internet connection? Or how can I find one that doesn’t?
@@bobjoro I have this same problem as well
@@leafypines i think I might have T2 security chip, it’s possible there’s no way around this at the moment
@@bobjoro dang, thats disappointing to hear
Has anyone tried this on a 2019 MacBook Pro, has it worked for anyone?
Thanks!
Good timing, one of my friends might be trying this on his 2019 MacBook Pro, so I’ll get back to you if he gets it working!
If he does, I’ll need to change the title of the video lol
@@MattsTech appreciate it so much! It’s my school computer but the school doesn’t remember 6 digit pin, and Apple won’t do it without proof of purchase which school doesn’t have either lol
Hey @@MattsTech, Did they have any luck getting it to work on their 2019 Mac Pro?
I should ask, since it’s asking you for a PIN, is that password part of the firmware? There are ways around that for those Mac models.
@@MattsTech so I can take it to a screen where it asks for 6 digit pin, or I can take it to a black screen with a lock that I believe would disable any kind of firmware lock all together but that’s about all I can do
T2 su7ks hey.
thanks!
No problem!
This WILL NOT work !!
It does
@@zackattack91000 I assure you it does not. I have been in this game 35 years and you are misunderstanding something.
All of the remote management locks are based on the machine serial number and nothing else.
The machine serial number is stored in the Apple database, which is why the machine "phones home" to verify it.
There is some software called "Checkmat8" on post T2 macs, it is only a bypass not a removal therefore you can never upgrade your OSX afterwards.
Pre T2 macs work differently. I have tried your way and if definitely cannot work at all
